Santa Is Retiring..... The Final Episode - Designated Santa Of The North

This is it! The final episode, its been a really enjoyable journey making these films. I’m so grateful for the feedback we have had on them and also the process of going over all of the old footage with the memories that come along with this.
It’s difficult looking back on work you have done in the past, its easy to be critical of the techniques or methods you have used, especially when the work your analysing is over 14 years old and shot by a student.
Initially it was interesting to look at the way a student me approach film making, there’s no substitute for experience and i would have loved to film this item now!
That said overall i am very happy with what we have done with the films, this final episode is longer than the previous and concludes the journey of Stan and his Grotto.
We see Stan at the Lord Mayors parade in Liverpool City Centre, this is a huge event with thousands of people coming to welcome Christmas in the city.
This event is pre 2008 Capital Of Culture and its great to look back on the city during this time. I don’t believe these parades take place any more but its incredible to see the efforts that have gone into it, camels, floats ex Brookside stars!
There’s a section in the film where the police turn up at the Grotto, in all honestly i cant remember what exactly it was over, but i believe it was to do with the traffic flow on the street. There was some history from the previous year where there were restrictions put in place on the street by the authorities.
Stan however used his charm to sort the situation out and as far as i am aware it was never a issue in the operation of the Grotto.
Thanks for watching these films, its been a real blast to put together. Hopefully its brought a little cheer in a otherwise challenging 2020.
