My first AR rifle is my DPMS and there seems to be a world of difference between them. I must say though that when I first loaded it up I struggled to unload the round in the chamber. Im also needing to hit my foward assist a little to help load my first round in. If you have any pointers it would be appreciated. Thank you.
Well that isn't normal operation for any rifle new out of the box. I've never used the forward assist. Try this-remove the magazine, pull the charging handlle back, and lock bolt in open position. just picked up my Colt SOCOM a few days ago. To my disappointment, there is a little wobble on the upper and lower receiver. I've owned several Colt ar15 and they didnt wobble, several Bushmaster ..no wobble, Daniel Defense...no wobble. Am I being too OCD? I can expect a wobble from a $500 ar15, not from a $1500 ar15. What do you think?
Being in the army and doing tours in Iraq, my m4s had wobble between the upper and lower. With this rifle, you are paying for a clone of a grunts military rifle, not fit and finish of a high end commercial rifle.
@@Cacklingkameltoe I see your point. I served in the Army too from 1988 to 1994. My beat up M16 had a big wobble. Don’t worry about the wobble. Every colt I’ve ever shot or inspected had some. It’s kinda like slide rattle on pistol. Really not a big deal and will not affect accuracy. In fact will most likely enhance reliability. My 2 cents, lol.
A E, there is some wobble between upper and lower. May be due to the size of take down pins or just loose tolerances as the cause. Can be corrected with a wedge that can be fitted in the rifle. These rifles are mil-spec and not ballroom Cinderellas so if it does not affect the safety or accuracy of the rifle I would not worry about it. That is my opinion. Thanks for the comments.

Got one too. I was going for the FN but after taxes and background check it would of almost been 2200 for the FN. Both beauty’s are the same apples for apples mil-spec from the barrel to the stock.
Both are great looking rifles. I added Carolina Laser Works custom UID tag to the lower receiver. Both the FN and Colt are overpriced IMO but I picked the right one. Thanks for the feedback.
Can someone care to explain why the standard A2 pistol grip is so common? Is it cheap for manufacturers to save money? Is it ergonomic for people where it's not for me? I just want answers ;( Also 223rd comment :P
@riiddisbuk2496 I appreciate the feedback, and thanks for the 223rd comment. As far as the A2 pistol grip goes, maybe it's just nostalgiac or familiar, and that is why it keeps appearing on different rifles. Maybe the Marines wanted something different back in '83 as they were the first to adopt the rifle or maybe it was the weight or better stability who knows. Someone for sure knows, but I can only guess. I'll search some forums for a better answer. Appreciate the question.
@asad61065 - the rifle is a clone of the M4A1 sold commercially for civilian use. It is not a US Government issued M4A1 but has similar markings. It is marketed as LE6920.
Considering buying one of these, but I have a question.. Is there much deflection in the point of impact if you lean the barrel on something when firing?
Not sure of the question but if the optic or iron signs are sighted in anything holding the barrel still during firing will improve point of aim and point of impact
@@404tactical7 I'm asking about the point of impact shifting away from the point of aim if you lean the rifle against a barricade. The handguard is not free floating, so I would expect pressure applied to it would influence the muzzle.
@@jacksquat2067 I sighted the rifle in using a bench and handguard rest with various sandbags all coming in contact with the upper receiver and barrel or RAS. I generally get the same accuracy but only shoot at 74 feet distance at the indoor range or on occasion an outdoor range that I can get out to 100 yards. Surely at longer distances accuracy would be affected more. A rifle with free float hand guards (some term as free float barrel) will give better accuracy but other things affect accuracy as well such as barrel length or the barrel being thicker or thinner. Barrel whip is different with longer barrels or thinner barrels etcetera. I will be trying out a BCM upper with 13 or 15" free float MLOK or KMOD. I haven't decided yet. Chrome lining on a barrel and cold hammer forging also affect accuracy as well as right grain weight projectile for your specific rifle and barrel twist rate. It's all a bit of trial and error. Thanks for your feedback.
This rifle did not have a cage code on the trigger guard. 13629 is on the receiver, the sling loop and the top of the barrel. I have seen other videos where the cage code was on the trigger guard though.
At 4:47 min I see what appears to be a Crack in the upper receiver between the charging handle and cage code. Maybe it's some fiber or something like that...
Good eyes. I checked and the forging is rough right there but there was also dog hair from our hairy 4-legged beast in that spot. Cleared now! thanks for the comments.
@HectorRivera-dj1oh Well, that is just Colts' lack of consistency in manufacturing and using different vendors and specs, I guess. When was your rifle manufactured? The one in the video was May 2022 production. Aside from the markings, how do you like it? I appreciate your feedback and comments. Thanks-Doug.
Maryland has many restrictive laws regarding firearms and accessories. You would have to check the wording of those laws. Sorry, I'm not much help on the question.
That rifle is not an LE 6920, it's a CR 6920. I know it says so on the box labels, but look at the serial number. Original LE 6920s as made by Colt before being bought out by CZ had serial numbers begining with LE. General consensus is that CZ Colts are not made with all parts manufactured by by Colt but rather outsourced from various vendors. Big difference.
Yep I am of the differences in mil-spec, quality control, outsourced parts and all of that. The older rifles produced prior to 2012 were all manufactured by Colt with Colt parts. Not saying anything about the quality now just know they are different but a lot of changes occurred after the M4 contract went to FN. I knew what I was buying before I made the purchase, and I liked the rifle because it had parts and markings other rifles didn't have. Check out some videos from a former engineer at Colt here: ruclips.net/video/CNXD_LUT61M/видео.html. Thanks for the feedback.
@@404tactical7 The new CZ Colts are still top quality. I have the gauges, knowledge and TDP specs and these Colts are still some of the finest AR rifles being made today. The new Colt Bolt carrier groups are right smack in the middle in the TDP tolerance, which is outstanding quality. The Colt barrels always pass the function gauge and true go head space gauge of 1.4646.. Out of spec chambers are not uncommon in the market today, but I have yet to find any Colt barrel out of spec.. The upper and lower receivers are always in tolerance, which many other popular manufacturers receivers fail.. Colt is still the standard others need to be judge by..
This one is marked 4U486 which is the cage code for P&S. There are some with 13629 and 4U486 on the same stock. This one was has the generic round medallion on the side. It is very plasticky feeling. I replaced it with a B5 Systems Enhanced SOPMOD stock.
Cerro Fabricated Products makes the raw forging with this keyhole mark. This raw forging is supplied to companies, like Colt, RRA, DPMS and Bushmaster who actually finish the receiver. There are generally 3 companies that create the raw forging. They all do quality work. The upper receiver forgings are all essentially the same, they simply come from different forging houses. The quality of the upper receiver ultimately comes from the manufacturer that CNC machines the raw forging into the upper. The company that applies the anodizing is then responsible for how well the finish of the upper becomes. Hope this helps
You have an Eagle eye. I tried using the golf course, but they kept asking me to leave-something about a membership or something. LOL. Thanks for the feedback.
It is not even as good as a Palmetto State Armory premium rifle or kit with FN CHF barrel. It is only valuable because of Colt fanboys. It will definitely hold value because of fanboys but the performance and specs are quite average.
The price I would say is mostly Supply versus Demand. I wanted it for the Property of U.S. Government markings on the receiver. The KAC rail is a $300 option, the SOCOM barrel is more $$ but not needed for civilian shooting. Thanks for the comments!
@@mattmurphy7030the rail is $300 alone, the socom barrel goes for about $300 and is one of the most accurate service rifle barrels out there, markings are there.
@@4150CHF No, if you had the gauges, knowledge and TDP specs you would understand why Colt is still the rifle others are judged by.. I love to put other peoples AR rifles on my bench and then give them my report card after gauging their master pieces..There is more to an AR rifle than a roll mark..
Yes. I found this one at MSRP. Good score. The same website has them listed at same price but hasn't had them in stock for 5 months. I've seen them for $2300-$2700 now
Considering what a knights rail, front grip and the matech flip up rear sight would be going for (its been extremely hard to find knights rails recently) you're not really getting that bad of a deal for $1500, Considering that it is a colt. Once you go up from there, you're paying too much
Colt needs to learn branding. You come out with an historical rifle and you can’t spend a couple bucks on the box? Palmetto State Armory has really cool boxes. The Chinese AK is so good you want to keep it. Some people don’t care, but it helps build a company’s brand. Apple is successful because they understand design and branding of their packaging. Cool gun nonetheless.
Agree on the marketing and branding. They need to learn some lessons. I haven't seen the PSA box but the FN SOCOM box looks really nice and the FN SOCOM looks like it has better fit and finish but in the end I just wanted to pay for the Colt name. Thanks for the feedback!
Its the same style box that would be shipped to military units which goes with what purchasers of this rifle are wanting. When i was a seabee and we got new FN M16s they were in plain brown cardboard boxes in a clear plastic bag just like this.
@@americanmilitiaman88 True on everything you stated. My purchase was based off what was in the box and not what the box looked like. I'm pleased. thanks for the comments!
The new and old colts are junk in my opinion. The receivers are great if you want to make a clone but other then that I wouldn’t buy one. Hell none of it is probably made by Colt anymore, they’re one of the reasons nothing got improved on for so long. I’ll take my URG-I any day over colt
The Pony is dead..its been probably 15+ since Colt was the Benchmark not since they lost their Government contracts..they farm out practically everything nowadays and they do not have the same Quality Control Standards as years past. They don't require MPC on their bolts..no thx much better choices nowadays out there for a much better rifle and better parts. Colt is a shadow of its former self.
@aldo-228-For sure they cannabalized their rifle manufacturing line in the last decade. I have had ZERO issues with older Colts when everything was made in-house and ZERO issues with ones made in the recent era with everything contracted out. Agree that there are higher quality rifles out there for the $$. S&W, Ruger or FN rifles are no better or worse for the price. I have a PSA15 that won't cycle Steel case ammo and an IWI X95 that gets really inaccurate after 50 rounds (but only sometimes). I have no concerns on the Colts I run. May not be all put together by the Old Pony Rifle maker but they aren't asking $2-3k for their rifles anymore. Time will tell. Thanks for the comments.
I have keyhole with C on upper receiver and one keyhole mark on lower receiver next to to the trigger its M4A1 full Auto series W kindly tell me which year its built?
The forging marks will only tell you the forging house that produced it. Cerro Forge = Keyhole. Other widely produced receivers have the Square or A. There are many other forging houses with various letters or symbols. The serial number is the way to identify the year that receiver /rifle was produced. If full auto, it was later variation and an upgrade from 3 round burst variant.
So I’d tell rail throw on a ris2 cutout sopmod stock geissele h2 buffer and geissele trigger would be accurate upgrades to that except buffer I just mention them cuz they work so well compar d to a lot but I run caleane gas ports so gotta use high power ammo but range works just 4ish high power .223 ejects at 3 o’clock like .223 Speer 75 grain sp (great stopping power) ormk262 smk

I just want answers ;(
Also 223rd comment :P
@riiddisbuk2496 I appreciate the feedback, and thanks for the 223rd comment. As far as the A2 pistol grip goes, maybe it's just nostalgiac or familiar, and that is why it keeps appearing on different rifles. Maybe the Marines wanted something different back in '83 as they were the first to adopt the rifle or maybe it was the weight or better stability who knows. Someone for sure knows, but I can only guess. I'll search some forums for a better answer. Appreciate the question.
@@404tactical7 No problem.
At least I can put a rubber grip on the A2 that makes it surprisingly better than "standard".
Nice Acquisition.

How could this be a Colt M4 A1if it's only semi auto?
Kindly clarify.
@asad61065 - the rifle is a clone of the M4A1 sold commercially for civilian use. It is not a US Government issued M4A1 but has similar markings. It is marketed as LE6920.
How's the fit of the upper and lower? Mine had a little bit of wobble. A little disappointed.
Absolutely beautiful.... Enjoy brother

Did the colt M4A1 have the cage code on the trigger guard Thanks Bill
This rifle did not have a cage code on the trigger guard. 13629 is on the receiver, the sling loop and the top of the barrel. I have seen other videos where the cage code was on the trigger guard though.
10-4 Thanks Bill
Charlie's custom clones has some in stock now I just got mine with cage code on it brand new in sealed bag

@ragnarok5056- thanks for the comments and feedback!
I bought mine back in 2013 with a true 16' barrel but I've made some cosmetic modifications. See thumbnail.
nice
Love the video !
@OjaiPunk thank you for the feedback!
@@404tactical7 you're welcome!
mine doesn't have the 13629 cage code why is that?
@HectorRivera-dj1oh Well, that is just Colts' lack of consistency in manufacturing and using different vendors and specs, I guess. When was your rifle manufactured? The one in the video was May 2022 production. Aside from the markings, how do you like it? I appreciate your feedback and comments. Thanks-Doug.
Great video hitting all the details. Is your trigger guard cage code marked underneath?
@lasermaker5- no it has no markings but other years the SOCOM rifles did. Go figure. Thanks for the comments.
Is this the civilian version 6920?
The civilian model 6920 is the civilian version of the Colt M4 Carbine used by modern militaries. The 6920 is semi-auto.
Colt Haters: Its just a mediocre mill spec rifle.
Same Colt haters when introduced to a new modern AR with innovation: Its not mill spec....
13629 is not Colt. It’s the outsourced one. I’m not saying it’s bad.
Definitely will check into one
Que belleza de carabina. 😮 saludos

Just bought one . My first rifle.

This is not legal in MD, correct?
Maryland has many restrictive laws regarding firearms and accessories. You would have to check the wording of those laws. Sorry, I'm not much help on the question.
How did you put on the grip
Hello? Thanks for the question. Do you mean the fore grip or the hand grip?
Actually no difference
Cr serial number does not indicate expanse model. There were cr serials on these guns before colt sold.
@@Sl-oj2bb True- after reading more think the CR serial numbers started on certain Colt models in 2018

Question on waffle stock cage code on the stock 13629
This one is marked 4U486 which is the cage code for P&S. There are some with 13629 and 4U486 on the same stock. This one was has the generic round medallion on the side. It is very plasticky feeling. I replaced it with a B5 Systems Enhanced SOPMOD stock.
What does the keyhole mean??
Cerro Fabricated Products makes the raw forging with this keyhole mark. This raw forging is supplied to companies, like Colt, RRA, DPMS and Bushmaster who actually finish the receiver. There are generally 3 companies that create the raw forging. They all do quality work. The upper receiver forgings are all essentially the same, they simply come from different forging houses. The quality of the upper receiver ultimately comes from the manufacturer that CNC machines the raw forging into the upper. The company that applies the anodizing is then responsible for how well the finish of the upper becomes. Hope this helps
Barrel length and flash hider?
16.1" overall length with 14.5" SOCOM barrel with the extended flash hider pinned and then welded together.
Price in the market??
Still going for about $1k. One of the most popular AK platform rifle.

Without crucifying me, what makes this carbine worth $1500? I can't find detailed specs anywhere.

Saw them advertised on Atlantic Firearms yesterday in stock for MSRP
Msrp? $1500?
If you shop around they go for about 1200
Once you go up from there, you're paying too much
I’ve built a CHF 20in from PSA for less than $700. I like the history with colt, but not for $2000+
Nice
Thanks for the feedback- 404 Tactical
How to order sir
That's not a typical A2 flash hider
I'll check the length, but it may be extended to get to 16" in length with the barrel.

Congrats on your Urgie Purchase. Doesn't that rifle have colt part like the Upper and BCG?
This isn’t an le
Colt assault rifle are better.
Love Colt rifles
You are wrong.
