I love Colors so much because I have amazing memories playing it back when it first released as well as even today with Ultimate. I don’t mind the story being more chillaxed than previous entries, even though certain elements overstayed their welcome in future entries (ie lost world & forces). All in all, I just straight up love the game to death regardless of it’s faults, and even then I still have a great time playing it even today. Now go for the red rings & game land levels 😈
My thoughts about Colors personally: It's a fine platformer but a 🐕💩 Sonic experience, cold take I know. The script is bad and doesn't flow well AT ALL, the humor is cringe AF and not in the charming way Heroes or SA2 or ShtH were, voice acting is legitimately the worst in the franchise causing actual physical cringe (again, older games have worse performances in quality but come off way more charming and fun, they're kind of byproducts of their time, 2010's Colors doesn't), Sonic is at his absolute worst in terms of characterization here imo and the tone Colors set-up paved the way for the rest of the Meta Era (2010-2021), a tonal shift that I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE as a fan. Gameplay, visuals, level design and concepts, OST, performance, the Wisps, yeah those are all OK but I'm just not feeling it as a Sonic game, it doesn't manage to land. Touching on what you said in the last part the game ABSOLUTELY has "Oh THIS bad level and gimmick" moments 100%. The level where you run on some automated beam through space is long and only cool the first time, when 100%ing and replaying it's soooooo boring, as well as the level where you're just doing circles over some structure and quickstepping Motobugs for like a thousand years and there's literally nothing else in the level. Plus all the boss fights, they all suck. Colors DS is better overall, Silver, Blaze, Shadow, Omega, Amy, Cream, they're all in it and the finale where you're freeing Mother Wisp is canon but completely absent from the console version so if anyone's interested in the full Colors experience the DS version is also a must 100%.
I respect your opinion Personally I think it's a good game and a good Sonic game but there are bad aspects to it Which the biggest aspects being the awful dialogue and overuse of 2D but everything else is pretty good imo
i think the humor being bad is actually great for this. Don't get me wrong its bad but its atleast not taking itself seriously like lost world and even a moment like the blackhole doesn't seem serious.
@@ThatSmolChild Lost World is tonally all over the place but to be honest I'm the opposite of you, I appreciate the glimpses of arcs and elements of serious moments. Lost World Tails and the dynamic between Sonic, Tails and Eggman as a trio in Lost World is very hated but I honestly find it pretty engaging, Lost World Eggman especially is one of my favorite portrayals of the character post-06.
