1월 14일 예스 24라이브홀에서 '여자친구'(GFRIEND)의 컴백 쇼케이스가 진행됐다. 여자친구의 이번 미니앨범 'Time for us'는 2년 6개월만에 발표하는 정규앨범으로 컴백을 앞두고 Daybreak, Daytime, Midnight 세 버전의 티저를 공개해 많은 관심을 받았다. 타이틀 곡은 '해야'로 좋아하는 사람을 떠오르지 않은 '해'에 비유한 곡이다. 이번 앨범에는 '해야'를 비롯해 'You are not alone', '기적을 넘어'(L.U.V), 'GLOW'(만화경), '비밀이야기'(Our Secret), 'Only 1', 'Truly Love', '보호색(Show Up), '겨울, 끝'(It's You), 'A Starry Sky', 'Love Oh Love', 'Memoria(Korean Ver) 등 총 12곡이 수록됐다.

One of the things I love about Gfriend is they incorporate not only complex choreo, but choreo that suits the precise theme of the song. It's not randomized movements, they open the song with a sun formation and continue that through varying hand motions, positions, orientations. As the song builds, the choreo becomes more powerful to really convey anguish, loss. I know there are ongoing interpretations of their MVs but Gfriend really uses dance as their medium, the stage as their canvas. It's so beautiful to watch and their vocals get more and more powerful as well.

Gfriend is not just a group of idols dancing and performing on a song. They are actually performing an aesthetic art that uses choreography to express one's feelings. But it's not just the dance, cause their dance and synchronization sometimes overpowers their vocals but if you listen to them you can clearly hear how they care to perfectly hit the notes. They are trying to deliver what a real artist means.
And even if they're part of Bighit now, they never uses it to increase their popularity. It was so rare to find a grouo who cares about the artistry more than the popularity and Gfriend defines it perfectly. Thank you source music for trying to sustain their longevity and not just popularity.

GFriend definitely never fail to disappoint me with Sunrise! In my opinion, this whole vibe of the choreograpy and the music itself takes me back to Time For The Moon Night: the beats of the instrumental, the graceful and swift dance movements, same exact beginning and ending pose. But this is whole new level! What a great way to start 2019!
