Brilliant match. I'm loving these 1000 level and major tournaments the last year +. Such a high level of play consistently. This is about as strong as I could expect these two to play vs. one another. Thanks to Sabalenka and Rbakina!

Wow! Can’t believe Elena lost the match, up 5-4 in the second set, she should of never lost., I think her play and confidence badly dipped at that point!
Not sure if she 'should of' never lost. Maybe she should 'have' played a bit better on those game points.
Sabalenka is the best under pressure
Elena suffered a dip in energy during the second set, and that’s what allowed Sabalenka back into the match. Notice she was making more errors in the second set, and her sparkling serve was off as well. Add Sabalenka’s ferocious hitting on her ground strokes, to force errors also. After Rybakina lost the set, and took a brb, both women held serve comfortably. Rybakina had more energy to give one last push. She needed to win it in 2 sets. Good news is that now she has about 3 days to rest before she starts practicing for Rome. After that RG. Hopefully she will defend her title at Rome.

Russian and Belarusian players can't say any thing about the war. They have families. In These two countries...!!!! Theur families could suffer..
Sabalenka should be expelled from the tour for her views (or rather absence of views on the war in Ukraine) and being a coward not willing to speak up against the war. There should be consequences. She can play in Belarus and Russia (possibly China) but not elsewhere.
Quel rapport la guerre et le tennis on va exclure tout les sportifs? Au JO on accepte Israël c'est mieux? Arrêter de parler de politique et de sport ?
Not an easy matter. Belarus is a dictatorship and not to support the war is already better than nothing. Means: she has probably family there and her actions could harm them. It is easy to call for civil courage in a free world we live in. I think, as long as she doesn't support crimes she would be treated as everybody else.
