  • Kintaro suddenly cried loudly. Momotaro, who had been taking a friendly break with Gentaro in response, was about to dash over. Kintaro was not injured in any particular way; it was just that Kintaro was unhappy about something and cried.
Momotaro showed some behavior of his own in walking up to Genki, Gentaro, and Kintaro.
Momotaro was relaxed in the same box with Gentaro.

Kyoto City Zoo / Western Lowland Gorilla
    MOMOTARO & GENKI Family
    Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
    MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
    MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO.

    Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
    she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
    GENKI's father is MAC.
    GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
    First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
    Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

It seems as if these gorillas aren't taken care of very well. One has a sprained foot, and another one is having trouble chewing her food and she also has an open wound on her shoulder. Somebody needs to be reporting this zoo to animal welfare and demand that the place has investigation done on them. 😡😭

    • @daisysunshine1324
      @daisysunshine1324 Год назад +16

I don’t like zoos at all. But the ‘wound’ or little cut on the shoulder looks new. And we have no idea if they have put antiseptic on it already or if they will do it during the evening lock down. The treatment for a sprained foot is… nothing. You can put the foot in plaster or a bandage, but that doesn’t do anything to prevent the toes & small bones/muscles from moving. The only reason humans get those things for minor foot & ankle injuries is to make them feel psychologically secure. They don’t aid in healing at all. Besides, the Gorillas would likely have casts or bandages off in seconds.
Zoos are less than ideal habitats for any creature. But they are what keeps the money coming in through the gate, so popular zoos like this one, don’t usually mistreat their animals, ignore health issues or let them suffer unnecessarily.
And also sadly they do have a place in conservation. For example, there are more Tigers in captivity in the US than there are in the wild world wide. A huge proportion are in private and public zoos.

      @TheFlashyWeasel Год назад

@@sharonwoods5825 yes... Because mankind is wiping out our animals and their habitats. There is no choice. Mankind will always want power and greed-and nothing will stand in the way. It's a sad fact. The animals born in captivity have no knowledge of their wild counterparts if that makes you feel any better.. they have food, care, but yes, they are enclosed. Zoos are getting better at getting more room
and natural housing. But you'll always encounter some that can't do that due to expense and space limitations. Care is perhaps the most single important factor..
Most zoos perform yearly checkups, I do not see that here, especially with older animals. But we only see a small part of their day. I hope I helped you to understand. 😊

Here, their life is too calm. They are protected from everything and they don’t worry about predators. In the wild, many things would prey on their young from the ground and air. But they are alive here because in the wild, man would also prey on them for their hands, feet, skins etc.

As I read the comments I can't help to think most ppl don't understand that the natural habitat for these majestic animals is mostly gone and the wild gorillas are being hunted to near extinction, the Kyoto zoo seems to take very good care of the Momotaro family. Instead of feeling sorry for them, maybe donate to the zoo so it has more funding to build bigger nicer inclosures for my beloved freinds. In a perfect world they would be out roaming free, but humanity has ruined that for them, I thank God for these vets, and zoo keepers. I love this family!! Gods blessings to all ❤

It is so very sad that these Gorillas have to live in captivity like this and I am definite that they don’t get the care that they are to get and the area they live in just doesn’t seem clean and so small for such big creatures. The one Gorilla that has a bad foot should be cared for by the humans or he could get a very bad infection and get sepsis in the blood and end up dying cause I had that and almost died cause it isn’t something to play with or even ignore too. If the animals are “ACTUAL RESCUES” that’s good tat they are there but if they are ONLY being USED for SHOW so the people who run this Zoo can get money to put into their rich pockets then it’s absolutely wrong. You need to give these very intelligent Gorillas to a Rescue and even if it’s to another Country too then they would get their spark back in their eyes and be very happy creatures and be able to live as a Gorilla should live.

Truly beautiful animals. Animals need to be respected and protected. And though i generally disapprove of zoos, i think there are definitely situations where Humans should intervene to protect and take care of animals. And there are some horrific zoos out there, who have absolutely no business and no right being near any animal, let alone house and care for them.
THIS, the kyoto zoo, is very clearly NOT one of those terrible places. And these gorillas (and id imagine all the other animals too, if i make it to Japan like a plan to (i live in America), i will be paying this zoo a visit. They deserve the support. These are well cared for, happy gorillas who get to live out their days, just being themsleves (and being safe). And zoos also help us learn about animals, and everything we learn can help us better understand and protect them. When it comes to wildlife in captivity, it is much better to have EXPERTS care for them.

This is incredibly sad. These gorillas should be living in the wild. Zoos and other places that cage gorillas, elephants, bears, giraffes, etc., are cruel. No matter how much people try to make the animals' habitats resemble their natural habitats, it's still a cage. The behaviors these animals exhibit are not normal. This isn't how they behave in the wild. I'll be glad when the day comes that people as a whole understand and accept the fact that these animals shouldn't be caged for our amusement and/or for profit. Humans have to be the worst species on the planet.
