There is one old Chinese saying that is:
"Once you understand one key idea, you may discover 100 answers".
This thing usually applies to learning things including martial arts.
In fact, this saying perfectly applies to Wing Chun.
In Wing Chun, we don't learn by copy the techniques, we learn by understanding the ideas.
The reason I make a lot of videos and share with everyone. It's not I want you to change your Wing Chun, follow my style or copy my techniques. I want you to learn one key idea and to discover 100s answers.
Then you can start to develop more techniques
Teach yourself and create your own style of Wing Chun.
Let's Create Your Own Wing Chun Kung Fu Style!

Superb instruction! I can't believe I just found your channel!? Subscribed. Thank you for what you do for Ip Man Wing Chun! Please continue to pass on the system!
Contrary to many "teachings", Wing Chun does have a "box" [& base]. So, the "center"/spine Man Sao is definitely required BUT there is also a "clearing" action [Biu Gee downward Man Sao]. Clearing is "opening" the path to "spine". This means "clearing" the Box [just inside shoulders & hips]. These are "borders" to "cross" [1st section of Siu Nim Tao]. So, we strive to "drive" [THROUGH] "center/spine", but we CROSS [X] the "borders" [determined by knees & elbow placement within our "table/box: immovable forward elbows or knees].
I also view "Center" differently than most openly proclaim [closed-door student of a direct closed-door of Duncan Leung]. Spine to spine "becomes" the line. "Center" & "line" are 2 concepts brought together in my experience. "Center" means we find the point an inch or more forward of the lowest vertebrae. This is the "seat" of the soul [where an opponent cannot escape forces applied]. Line is driven from elbows & knees [& also spine in more advanced applications].
I often teach [privately]: the best place to be is BESIDE the line [of force], then to spiral [feed back] to the opponent's "center". The END of the line [fist] IS the end of the line. Our every touch should disrupt [& displace "center"]. Position permits Opportunity; balance allows response.
That said; true Wing Chun targets pressure points. Biu Jee/Thrusting Fingers [as I was taught] is to elongate [sharpen the "spear"] & disable the opponent. There are many pressure points along the collar bone & neck; I have never had them fail under true duress [whether using "seizing" behind the neck or "burden" just a finger to the spine/center just inside the middle of the collarbone]. In my experience [many life-and-death fights, including multiple opponents & knife/weapon disarms], I've never had an opponent re-engage after bridging/contact.
I know many speak of targeting the eyes, but we need to UNDERSTAND "intention" [NOT "tension"]. These are specific in nature. Though this is not a truth I expound upon to everyone.
God bless you & your work. At 7 years old I had to save my baby brother from a gang armed with clubs. To this day I know for certain I would be dead many times over if I had been taught a different art.
What you do truly matters. Have faith.

Thank you for sharing Sifu! I used to train under the late Sifu Bart at the Colorado School over 15 years ago. I took a break and explored other arts and trained in Kuntao under one of Uncle Bills students. I also tried another version of Wing Chun under Cheung Sifu lineage but I found I really prefer the Wing Chun I learned under Sifu Mann. So after more than 15 years I have recently gone back to further my studies and honor my late Sifu. I love everything Wing Chun and it has become part of my everyday life and It has made me a much better person. I really appreciate any information on not only the physical aspect but also the historical and spiritual essence of the art. I thank you again for sharing your knowledge with us Sifu!

I am glad you like Wing Chun. You are right, it will become a part of your life. I always tell my students, that Wing Chun is in their blood. Wing Chun will become your lifestyle.
As I said in the video, I am not trying to make people change their style of Wing Chun. I am trying to pass all my knowledge so people can utilize and build their own style of Wing Chun.
Remember, Wing Chun is an Art of Fighting. It is an art just in a different format. If arts like music or painting... you need to have your style to make yourself unique.
