I've worked on roofs replacing shingles, so I understand why they aren't wearing them. But even I would wear one 2,3 stories high lol; a broken rib from a harness fucking up my footing would be better than splatting.
As someone who has been in the trade i have almost fell more times when i was tied off from the tie off equipment getting hung up and making me almost lose my balance. I agree with tying off but do not agree with 100 percent tying off. As it becomes more of a hassle than good.
No safety choker or safety cables (yet)!!! Just like it used to be!!!! Good video.... should have whipped a bolt at the crane!!! He’d put down his phone then....Operators need to be just as focused and alert as the connectors if not moreso...
You Men have Balls of Steel you could never get me up there on those Beams you have my highest respect I will stick to driveing truck and Hauling in to the Iron Workers
was outta work and landed a job tying rebar. after 3 hours i was going to quit when the gf asked if i could do bolt up. anything but tie rebar. by lunch some wiry dude asked me if i was afraid of heights. for the next 10 years i was a redline connector. live hard, coon steal.
i wish i didnt get hurt on the job i miss this so bad i hope i can come back one day i miss you local 433 i wish i could find a good foreman that would work with me
I see you haven’t uploaded In quite a while so it’s definitely a long shot but if you happen to see this I am trying to get into the field and do work like you do in the videos I have been welding for about a year but don’t have any construction experience so are there any pointers you could give to a young guy like me on getting out there
Don’t listen to the trolls that don’t know what they’re talking about. I’ve been a union Ironworker for 7 years. Which is what these guys are. Ironworkers. Welding is a HUGE part of ironwork. Just not during connecting typically. It does happen occasionally while connecting but not very often at all. If you want to learn this trade look up your local Ironworkers union hall and go apply to the apprenticeship program. If they have any openings and you’re willing to test your ability and gumption go for it. It’s hard work. Very demanding. But also very rewarding. Especially because it’s not a job that anyone can come do.
if they let me move like this i would never live that job slow job are great to learn on I don't think these guys are as bad as everyone wants to stay on here everyone just has a different way of doing things even though I know that's not how I was taught when I was going through the apprenticeship but you do you bro
why don’t y’all use impacts while you’re up there to tighten the nuts onto the bolts? Seems like that would be faster but I also have zero idea what I’m talking about
They have to make sure its plumb become commiting to the bolt. They are just connecting. The plumb guys will come in after with their equipment and make sure its level before tightening it all down.
I've no idea what I'm talking about either but why don't they have ratcheting wrenches? It's not like they are tourqing them down to spec yet anyway. Seems like it'll be easier and quicker.
Connectors make the beam connections they usually aren’t the ones to bolt every hole and if they are they usually do it later. They put 1-2 bolts each side and move on.
The bolting up gang comes later and stuffs all the holes and torques them to spec. These guys are just connecting, there job is to hang as much iron as fast as they can.
Yeah cuz no other connector in the world would.. high end the other side.. stuff a spud in the high hole on the connection side.. and then go and make the other side?? I don't know I only did it for 25 years up and down the East coast.. and you learn something new everyday.. these guys doing awesome job they are very very good at what they do..🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫
I was a connector out of 401 me And my partner would have connected 2xs the iron w/ out teeing! He can't single for shit "boom up hold load swing left " and you should have spotted the boom for operator then you have to single until final connect and cutting lose! Back TO THE HALL
The guy recording this says every other pic he's on his cell phone...😳😳😳😳.. the guy recording this is showing a tag sign boom up of the load...never mind I'm just going to leave it alone !!!!I only connected for 25 years.. nice work stay safe let's all work together 🥱🥱🥱🥱
Ironworker my ass why can't you stand up not to mention wrong hand signals why boom down when you're supposed to Cable down and suck it up by hold the load boom up make it hard on yourself
15 minute time stamp..🥱🥱🥱🥱.. you girls are so cute 👍👎👏☝️👆👇👉👈😂😂😂..how many Ironworkers.. connecting bars... and Spud wrenches ....does it take to make a knife connection???🤑🤑🤑🤑.. stay safe my brothers!! 80' columns with no grout?? If these kids don't know ..I'm not going to try to explain it..
Need to be way more faster...and put some fuckin bolts in your bolt bag would ya...start putting some bolts in the holes while you're waitin on the next piece geez...unreal lol
Timestamp 17 minutes.. we're going to need like two more connecting bars.. a 3/4 ton come along.. a beam shrinker and a beam stretcher.. just give me a minute cuz I got to download my GoPro video that shows how totally inadequate of a connector I am 🧐🧐🧐🧐.. 1200 lb beams on tube columns.. whiskey tango foxtrot.is this guy going to do when he gets a 20 ton. Header..🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔👍👎👈👉👇👆🥱🥱🥱🥱😢🤑🤑🤑🤑
One sad part of life is some people think Thay are the best at what Thay do?!?! This right here proves that mentally.i can put this on at bedtime to put me to sleep.and rest knowing.ill wake up tomorrow and have something too laugh at.i love the bolt part you only carry 4 bolts then ask your partner for a bolt .if I was his partner I would not want to be on camera.prowd injuns down sad but true this shit happens every day.
Having this video recommended reminds me of how old RUclips was, no flashy thumbnails, just people doing cool shit.
2017 is still the "viral" youtube. we know similar today. For OG youtube you wanna go back to before 2012
This wasnt even that long ago lmaoo
I like how they are wearing safety harnesses but aren't even using them.

they're more of a hindrance than a help

OSHA feeling a disturbance the whole video. No use of fall arrest here
Hahaha.

Low key looks fun as hell
Job is I do this for a living I’m only 25 with 6 years experience never changing careers love it!
I remember when we were still allowed to hang load under load. How does OSHA specify rescue from a height like that?
dude I would fumble catching those bolts like you wouldn't believe. Good catch.
респект мужики из россии!!!) вы красавчики! работаем!
That bag you have your water in should be hanging on the hook full of bolts since you only carry 10 at a time?
Thanks for these videos man. I'm trying to get in local 7

What happened?
The thing that scares me most are the tandem loads that are overhead.
The rigging that’s holding all the steel has a 5x safety factor on the weight
did hess send you out?
I crave the strength and certainty of steel
thats 051 baby!!! Listuguj!
i can imagine that working on a place like this means that you can not act like a child here, especially for the safety of them
Awesome
Awesome. I thought the end of last video was funny when you left an asshole in that choker, but when I saw that pick I totally lost it.
What's that guy spitting up osyters.
Why don't you use wireless to communicate instead of hand movements? I wonder.
No safety gear is stupid af
