I am a 30 plus year fan of Steve Earle and met Kelly many times after shows. I found him to be very generous with his time and sharing and a delightful person to speak with, his death really shook us all, he left too soon and even now, five years later, I miss him at Steve shows. I can only imagine how Steve felt and all the people who loved him so dearly in his life, but I am grateful I said thank you to him when I did, for his gift of music given to us all.

Holy fucking shit I didn't know Kelley Looney passed away! Damn. I shook his hand in the lobby of the Old Town School at a Dukes show recently. A few years ago I shouted "Looney!" at a quiet point at the same place, and he looked at me, threw a devils horn with his hand and said: Just for that I'm going to rock twice as hard on the next song." Jesus. Sorry, Steve and all of the fans and peace to all who love Kelley Looney.
