I don't think that it's a privilege to be vegan. In some cases, sure. As you pointed out, in certain climates. But for the most part, you can get enough food cheaply to support a vegan diet. Having said that, from a Christian perspective, there is nothing wrong with eating meat.

This topic is rarely addressed in the church. However, the Bible actually has quiet a lot to say about it when we dive deep into verses on God's will and the role of animals. And understanding God's perspective on this topic then gives us the ability to make choices for ourselves with purpose that we can really stand by instead of just following what our group or the culture is doing without giving it much thought.
