I LOVE how long your guys' videos are. I can just make a pot of tea, sit in bed with a bowl of popcorn, and just watch your videos. Thank you so much for uploading!!!
+Kyde and Eric Are you kidding me? They can never be long enough. I'm always bummed when the videos end. By the way, you guys have inspired me to visit Japan. My wife and I are going to Osaka/Kyoto in May. 🏯Your videos from those places are going to be our guide. Woohoo!
Had a bad day today. Thought to myself after cooking dinner for the family, i need to take a warm bath, cuddle up with a blanket and watch some of kyde & eric videos to relax. Thx for helping me unwind guys!
Hey Kayde & Eric, I just wanted to say that ever since me and my husband got married 2 years ago we've been faithfully watching your channel and we actually spend every Saturday night catching up on your videos. We actually want to move to Japan one day in the future and find these videos so inspiring and helpful with visiting places. Thank you for uploading regularly and being apart of our family
+Ashley Engelby Wow, awesome to hear! Thanks so much! Wonderful you are enjoying our videos together, it means a lot to hear things like this! Thanks! -Eric
Las night I was so exhausted after gaming for 8 hours, at around 2 am I decided I would check for an uploaded video from you guys, I ended up watching 2 minutes of it....and falling asleep on my taco I was eating. Needless to say I now am fully awake and have watched the whole video with no tacos hurt during the process.
I've been enjoying your vids for years and am so happy that you guys finally got my hometown Nagoya. Be back again to experience some more unique Nagoya dishes!
Really loved your videos. You both come across as two, good, normal people. I am going to Kobe next week and staying for eight weeks, so it was great to see things in Japan that I would normally miss. Thank you both so much, an hour well spent on my couch.
Thank you. I've been coming back and forth to Japan since 1990, working at sea, on merchant ships. I absolutely love Japan and always enjoy any shore time in Kobe. I've done most of the touristy spots but have missed the little things that you and Eric have shown. I love your food trials and will definitely be sampling one or two. Enjoy your time in the Philippines. One more thing, I've noticed that both your appearances have improved as you've lived in Japan and can only guess it's through life style and diet, you both look really well and healthy.
B.J. Martin Oh, goodness, I had to start doing this too! I thought I was the only one. It's never anything nearly as interesting as what they're having, but it's gotta be something!
An excellent video loaded with all kinds of information!! Thanks for sharing your experience!! Sounds like a place if I ever get the chance would love to visit.
I just rewatched this vlog and it's really on point. Your vlogging skills have really stepped up to a professional level. You two have got to submit this to the Travel Channel; you really have talent that shouldn't go unseen by the masses.
dmuze Haha, thanks! I do have concerns that if we were responsible to a production team of some sort if we'd be able to produce things in the same style. Something tells me not. -Eric
I just found out about all your videos by accident but within the past week I've probably watched almost all of them and they are great. I really enjoy the attitude you guys have towards trying new crazy food.
Chris Lee Nice! Not sure if it's possible to watch them all in a week though, makes me wonder if you might be missing a chunk. Check out our website, it's the easiest way to see stuff in proper chronological order. kydeanderic.com -Eric
Thanks a lot, I will def check out your website, I've been watching the vids on YT. I've been watching while working at the same time. 50-80 work week gives me plenty of time to watch the vids......SHhhh dont tell my boss bwahaha ^_^
Thanks for sharing. I just took a job with Mitsubishi in Nagoya and this was a nice introduction to the city. I look forward to viewing your other Japan videos in the future. I don't speak any Japanese but the work is all in English its should be an adventure. Good luck in your future travels.
I'm going to Japan soon to visit my friend whose now working there and your videos have been great to watch to learn some interesting things to expect when I go. love your style of filming :)
Kyde and Eric Great cant wait, its even better now. Im lovin all the vids in between and its funny to see kyde's hair in the Vietnam vids and then ones from last week. The doo is lookin good, some people cant rock short hair but Kyde makes it look gooood!
I love the "eye shadow" Eric was wearing during the Spaceship scene... lol. This video makes me want to go to Japan for an extended vacation! ♡♡♡ the video
Im off to Japan in 12 days!!! Ive been watching you guys for ages!!! Love it! Loads of insight and ideas for things to do when I get over.Great job guys. Love and respect from Perth Australia :D

Love your videos! My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Japan, and are thinking about finding a way to live there for a year or two. Such a cool place to be!
So excited to get a response;) We currently live in Italy, but gotta say I just keep watching videos of Japan while I'm here. I'm craving all the Japanese food.
:D its quite lovely to have a nice lunch and watch you guys!. btw nice camera, on here it seems to run at 60FPS. ^___^ you guys take care and keep the travels!
Also, I know I already commented, but I have to say, you guys are probably my favorite vloggers on youtube just because you two play off of eachother naturally and don't seem to filter yourselves. No offense to any other j-vloggers meant by this, but it seems like a lot try to filter what they're saying and such at times. You guys just seem extremely honest. That or you're both really good actors and it's all been a ruse this entire time.
According to what I've heard you trade the money in the card for random objects then you trade the random object for money in an adjacent building Fun fact: In the original Pokemon games you could exchange pokedollars for points to play games with in the arcade and with the points you won you can exchange for loot in the building beside it!
I re-watch your videos all the time, they make me feel at home with you guys! This one is so comfy!! One thing I've always wondered but never asked is: Kyde, how tall are you?
Another awesome video! I'm totally going to be adding Nagoya to my list for next year. Also I had no idea that the Toyota museum would be that amazing O_O I could probably spend all day there myself! lol
I think they put the butter along with the strawberry jam on that thing you ate at 30:49 because a lot of people from different countries put jam and butter together on toast, bisques, and sometimes on English scones, that's how everyone in my family eats toast :)
Love it when you show us what you're eating and explain the taste/texture/etc.! I've felt let down watching previous vids when you say you're going to eat then don't take us along even if it's meat (although I'm a vegetarian I love to cook and watch recipe vids and try to adapt them to my diet).
Ricky Martin Getting around was super easy! It's basically a grid with a excellent subway/train system. A bike might be fun too, if you can afford it! -Eric
There is a running gag of sorts for nicknaming skyscrapers in London. There is the Gherkin, and others called the Cheesegrater and the Walkie Talkie (which reflected sunlight and melted a car when it was first built.)
HI guys, have been watching your vids, fantastic I might add, I lived in Matsuyama Ehime prefecture working for four years 2000-2004, nice to see Japan through your eyes, Eric.. you are so hyper critical of Japanese food.. live a little..
Haha.. fair enough, I guess there are a lot of things that are and seem strange to foreigners in Japan. I give credit to both of you for being there for that amount of time.
Just walked past Shachi-ichi, the curry udon place, today. I was pleasantly surprised to find it looking more like a coffee shop than a noodle shop from the outside. Had lunch at Solo Pizza which is also located in Osu and it was by far the best pizza I have ever had in Japan and perhaps in North America as well. Wonder if your book mentions that pizzaria.
+masaegu Don't think it mentioned that pizza joint. We have found a really stunning place in Shinjuku called "Pizza Slice" though that does really good NY Style pizza. -Eric
LOL @ Eric... the "spinning wheels" are called a spinning wheel..!! ;) This video was fun and educational to watch.. I can never get bored of watching you guys! My bf and I would love to visit Japan one day and I would be honored to have you guys show us around. (If we can ever afford the trip) Btw, Toyota also makes sewing machines too! a few months ago I wanted to buy some new colored pencils so I went online on Amazon and found Mitsubishi Colored pencils... I was very intrigued so I bought them... I think it is funny because the Mitsubishi symbol is on the box, at times I wonder if they will start driving away. lol The mochi udon looks amazing...! makes me want to eat udon curry now! Edit: apparently Japanese car companies also make sewing machines, looms and produce other products on the side.
Bluulotus tea Oh nice! I hope you get a chance to come to Japan. If we are free we try to meet with people when they come, shoot us a message if you get a chance to visit. -Eric
Is there more of a 'smoke-free' movement happening for public spaces and establishments in urban areas of Japan? Or no? I'm studying Japanese at a lingual institute in California and CA is so great about non-smoking laws. I find it very interesting that the Japanese culture is very much about not inconveniencing others, yet the prominence of smoking indoors and in public space is so great. I would love to visit Japan to see if it has the potential as my next home, but this is a major drawback for me. I like to be able to breathe clean air without some stranger taking away that choice for me. Any thoughts on whether change is happening or not?
hiiiimymelody Good observation. It's something that boggles our minds, you are dead on about how important it is to not fuck up other people's shit in the culture here, but then smoking is accepted in the way it was in the states in the 90's. Granted, it's not the 50's here in that sense, but it is certainly behind the times by American standards. Most chain restaurants places have smoking and non smoking sections, but often smaller mom and pop style shops allow smoking inside. They do tend to ventilate the places pretty good, but I agree, it's a huge annoyance. If we go somewhere that has standard food but smoking, it's our last visit. If the food is something special, sometimes we will tolerate it. People do not tend to smoke walking down the street or standing in lines though, so that is easy to avoid. The funny part of all of this is that in some larger parks they have built little glass buildings people have to go INSIDE of to smoke. Like seriously, they aren't allowed to smoke OUTSIDE at a park. So, it's clear there is an understanding that it is annoying but the legislation just isn't there yet to ban it in restaurants and bars. No idea how long it will be until it is in place either. That said, if you want to come to Japan that is not something that should be the deciding factor, haha. -Eric
Kyde and Eric awesome response. As long as I am able to decide when I would like to avoid it versus when I would like to tolerate it, I am okay. I saw your video where they had sectioned off places on the beach for smoking! Ha, crazy.
The Pachinko game looks so fun! I'd probably have to wear ear plugs or something if it's so loud. I can't handle that. Kyde is such a good explainer. No wonder she's a teacher!
I am really enjoying your videos! I would like to see some full length shots of the two of you, to get a feel for just how tall Eric is and your height difference! Great stuff!
If you go back to Nagoya you should contact Rachel & Jun who are also RUclips vloggers, but they live in Nagoya. I'm sure they have lots of inside information. Plus Rachel is from the U.S.
Would be amusing if Rachel & Jun or Gimmeaflakeman just wandered around in the background while they were shooting. Gimmeaflakeman actually did that in a Rachel & Jun video.
Eric you should try an india pale ale beer. its not your typical every other beer. its carmely, hoppy, floral, bitter, fruity, tropical fruity like pineapple/mango, minty, piney .. its like a gourmet meal in a glass. I think you'd like them if you've never tried one give on a try. It taste nothing like lagers like budweiser or asahi etc.
I’ve read things about Nagoya that seem to suggest that it might not be the funnest of cities to visit. It looks like it might be the Detroit of Japan, in more ways than one (sorry Detroit). Kyde and Eric’s review at the end seems to concur with that assessment. Though, given the choice, I’d probably pick Nagoya over any North American city, except perhaps for Mexico City.
+Kyde and Eric I should be there in January. Don't want to intrude but maybe we'll cross paths. You both seem like nice people. I'll keep watching your videos.
Cafe au lait guy was amazing! (And cute.) I must have one of those elephants! And oh, POCKY!!! I first discovered it in a Japanese store in Chicago. (Sadly now closed.) But I've seen it sold all over in regular stores. I just didn't know it existed!
I LOVE how long your guys' videos are. I can just make a pot of tea, sit in bed with a bowl of popcorn, and just watch your videos. Thank you so much for uploading!!!

Re-watching this one and according to Google the cafe you went to is still going strong 7 years later, which I am glad to see.
Yea, I actually got curious and checked in on them recently on google too! -E

Ha, crazy.
keandric 2 clean-ish air is right! I'll be prepared for the smog at least :)
I love watching videos even 6+ years old.. I’ve lived in Nagoya now over 7 years… and I actually live in Osu.. funny seeing you both in my hood! Lol..
The Pachinko game looks so fun! I'd probably have to wear ear plugs or something if it's so loud. I can't handle that.
Kyde is such a good explainer. No wonder she's a teacher!
Yesica1993 Haha, she's not a teacher anymore! -Eric

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! I really hope to go to Japan some day!
Robert Lewis Thanks! It's not a difficult trip, good luck! -Eric
I am really enjoying your videos! I would like to see some full length shots of the two of you, to get a feel for just how tall Eric is and your height difference! Great stuff!
Mark Swarthout Thanks so much! This sorta shows our height difference, but I hardly ever stand up straight. -Eric i.imgur.com/fHvLyJm.jpg

If you go back to Nagoya you should contact Rachel & Jun who are also RUclips vloggers, but they live in Nagoya. I'm sure they have lots of inside information. Plus Rachel is from the U.S.
IKR!!! Around 21:30 Rachel and Jun were standing in almost the exact same spot in their Oasis 21 vid
Would be amusing if Rachel & Jun or Gimmeaflakeman just wandered around in the background while they were shooting.
Gimmeaflakeman actually did that in a Rachel & Jun video.
+ikaruseijin01 wasn't he dressed up in a reindeer suit or something?
Yeah he was actually. It was a lark to see if anyone would notice. Many folks did, like me.
Kyde and Eric seem like nice people. Stay away from that drama.
soooooo what's up with the Miso?
Eric you should try an india pale ale beer. its not your typical every other beer. its carmely, hoppy, floral, bitter, fruity, tropical fruity like pineapple/mango, minty, piney .. its like a gourmet meal in a glass. I think you'd like them if you've never tried one give on a try. It taste nothing like lagers like budweiser or asahi etc.
Ipa is the worst kind of beer
hey i love your video! planning to visit nagoya next april. do you guys use JP rail pass for train? (tokyo to nagoya) thanks :)
No, as we aren't on tourist visas we can't use a JRpass.
Wicket : N. Amer. an opening in a door or wall, often fitted with glass or a grille and used for selling tickets or a similar purpose.
Not enough practice in the wind tunnel in preparation for the West coast of Scotland, I think !
That Boosh reference made you both that little bit cooler.
branshomey1 Haha, thanks. Love the Boosh. -Eric
Never been to Detroit so I can't confirm. -E
great video
Thanks! -E
The toothbrushing made this worth watching to the end - every moment was fun!
Wait what kind of stuff was in Kyde's curry soup? Mochi? The rice cake?
Fresh diapers like unused? Also isn't a diaper an asstray, so not far off from an ashtray.
A wicket here in the UK are the 3 sticks you try and hit when you play cricket. So I have no idea why they would use that word haha!
Emma Hallows Hahahaha. -Eric

+Official Kon Haha. -Eric
+Kyde and Eric I should be there in January. Don't want to intrude but maybe we'll cross paths. You both seem like nice people. I'll keep watching your videos.
Cafe au lait guy was amazing! (And cute.)
I must have one of those elephants!
And oh, POCKY!!! I first discovered it in a Japanese store in Chicago. (Sadly now closed.) But I've seen it sold all over in regular stores. I just didn't know it existed!
Yesica1993 Yea, I think I have seen Pocky in Walmarts! -Eric
