i’m pretty sure they have their OWN immersion tactics that the PDs only think about instead of game immersion like clipping thru stuff
Interacting with objects in VR is still clunky.
Even in tripple A titels like Alyx they simplify these interactions in a useful way for a game, but that would not be suitable for a simulation. The tech isn't ready for a perfect simulation, developer can not just program around these restrictions.

Hope the NYPD and other police departments will be able to use this and continue to use it
This is pretty awesome even if it's 2 years ago. I believe that if they practice every type of encounter once then have randomly set up scenarios where the police don't know what the suspect can and will do it will better help them for when they encounter similar scenarios where the suspect can do any number of things and are better prepared for the randomness instead of simply practicing the same thing over and over will inevitably just make them treat every encounter with similar descriptions the same way "I didn't mean to kill the suspect but the simulation always showed the suspect with a gun so that's what I prepared for I didn't know he was actually unarmed"
Same it is some good training and it has already been 2 years why do you think they are keeping this on the downlow?
If I understand right, they can tweak scenarios as they need and have instructors take the place of NPCs when they need to be more dynamic.
Course you’re always gonna run into the “this wasn’t in the training” problem as it’s hard to capture real life in so many scenarios

The government should pay game creators to create these whole scenarios that are smooth and not buggy and just plain perfect. And how would they pay them you ask? With tax money!
Yeah since they are good at creating scenarios in real life
Imagine Tom Clancy games being VR like Rainbow Six with the map House being the main place to train with 5v5 actual people playing matches against each other with only certain realistic operators
They don't really need that level of graphical fidelity since it's not what matters here. Commercial games use it because shiny graphics get more people to buy the game, but profitability isn't a concern with government training simulations.
@@significantharassment he's talking about a game with good code.
@@significantharassment the models are buggy, improving this and graphics would greatly increase immersion and the idea is to make the simulation as immersive as possible. So they should do it, theres no downside to improving graphics and models so they should just do it.
