Seriously, thanks for just watching the video. Hope you enjoyed these redone reviews, I'm pretty proud of them and feel like they do a much better job at showcasing my current feelings on the games and represent the quality I strive for on this channel. SO LIKE THE VIDEO PLEASE!!!
yes, i saw the trailer you don't have to tell me about it please XD
Now GV's enemies can suffer the wrath of Red Guy.
@@themythicalgriffin385 I’m so dead just like red guy.
What trailer? 😆
Came back here after GV3 out and I just wanna say. No side can escape Red Guy 😂
10:33 If you know that this game takes place in an alternative universe, the bad ending of GV1, his model of prevasion and stellar spark are incomplete which is why it is nerfed and in the universe (the good ending of GV1) his models but Gunvolt's skills are very much more perfected. It's like because Gunvolt died the adepts took over with their new leader Asimov FOR MANY YEARS it still remained incomplete.
I think IX is a great game, I replay it every now and then along with the other entries.
But I think Ix's storytelling is strong but not in the way of telling, but showing
multiple stages in Ix are revisits to old locations from Gunvolt 1, however these locations are now decrepit and broken down.
As well as the fact, during the final boss, the first phase you can barely see the quill symbol in the background. But the second phase when Copen/Acura's camera eye is busted
Pictures of Mytyl(?) or just pictures of Copen/Acura can be seen flashing amongst the static covering the screen during the boss.
The little details, makes it feel like Ix 1 is a celebration of Gunvolt's progress so far, while also being a platform of which Copen/Acura can tell his own story
and despite general opinion on Ix2, I love Ix 2. As a Mega Man Zero fanatic, it really mixes what I loved about MMZ and Gunvolt. It's trying something new and when you get around to covering that, I think it would be cool.
Granted, during my first playthrough of Ix 2, I was hot of the heels of a recent Mega Man Zero re-playthrough.
Ix is something I could say is,
Gunvolt's... sister, in a way. Very similar but trying to do different things.
"By the time I'm writing this, Luminous Avenger iX2 has been already released. So perhaps that game wil expand on the ideas brought on the endgame's twists and make for that a more interesting story from the get go..."
Oh boy... I feel iX2 review is gonna be wild.
Not only is the story a let down, but they also had to cripple Copen's playstyle.
@@themythicalgriffin385 I do enjoy Copen's new playstyle. It's just need time for you to get used to it. The tech there is really impressive!
There is actually a reason why the iX series doesn’t have much stuff in it compared mainline and that’s because it has been stated the series exists in order to hold over fans until GV3 was able to make any sort of progress. They’re filler at the end of the day, not the next big entries in the series and while that doesn’t excuse the problems both games have, it is the explanation.
that makes a bit more sense but it does kinda sting hopping from the content-stuffed gunvolt 2 to something like this. i get the reason but like you said, it's not really an excuse at the end of the day. nice to have an explanation tho
@@ZaffreRevolution yeah, although imo there’s a bit of difference between both iX titles. iX1 feels like a super duper safe, bare bones filler game while iX2 on the other hand feels like it was trying to be really ambitious and be a proper/more complete feeling experience but ultimately feels really… unfinished. Although in iX2’s case that’s mostly because it seems that the game had almost everything stacked against it but that’s a theory I can get into when you release your iX2 video (looking forward to it btw!)
Honestly ix is a really fun game and i like the villains in this because over half of them are not even bad guys they are just blackmailed by sumeragi into fighting copen, for better or for worse
and the reveal of what the butterfly effect was....well it shook me up a bit
however......
the next game left me sorely disappointed
while it won't be for a little bit, i am working on a video for ix2 i have some topics about it i'd like to bring to the table
you've been putting out a ton of videos lately, and since I honestly believe this is one of the best and most refreshing gaming channels on RUclips, Im loving it! Keep up the good work!
thank you so much! i think i'm gonna start making videos in batches like this and put them all out once they're done, so i appreciate you and many others liking that
This is the 1st & only Gonvolt game I played & I really liked it! I want to play the 1st 2 games since I tried a demo for the 1st Gunvolt years ago & it was what me interested in this IP. Great video as always 👍
With Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 coming out in July, now is the perfect time to give those games a shot.
Good news, though, Gunvolt 3 brings back dialogue.
And now they're dubbed in English, too.
I do enjoy Luminous Avenger iX more than Gunvolt 1 as a game, but neither compares to Gunvolt 2.
Oh and BTW, 7:18 I've come to deliver some very sad news.
yeah... :(
I'm a bit surprised to see the unanimous distaste for iX2 in the comments. The Razor Wheel were certainly not the most interesting of mechanics, but I personally loved the challenge that the hard mode brought to the table and thought it was neat that the game integrated the mode into the story (Even if said story doesn't really get anything done until the end, just like iX1).
Great video my man, hyped for your IX2 review.
Also if Kohaku's ingame design was the one featured in the official thanksgiving wallpaper it would be so much better. Really like her as a character but that's too little clothing for a 15 year old.... They could've at least made it into a seperate outfit.
Hey Zaffre, have you ever played a game called "A Dragon Marked for Death" ? It's a 2D action RPG by inti creates, mostly gameplay focused and with a pretty good multiplayer mode. Really hard game tho. I don't expect you to review it since you changed the focus of your channel, but I do think that you'd enjoy the game, specially playing with friends
yeah i have it but i didn't care for it too much. i thought it was kinda boring tbh haha. maybe it'd be more fun with friends but i didn't like it that much
Funny how you mention the bosses aren't as memorable since I remembered them like the back of my hand, probably BECAUSE they didn't have much of their backstory told to us, thus leaving me wanting to know more about them especially since most of them aside from Crimm and MAYBE Isola are a bit more sympathetic (yes even Bakto, the actual criminal).
Also, I'm happy you (somewhat) remembered Stella since she's also my favorite due to her weapon, design..... and yeah she's rather sexy (and I can say thay confidently because she's 20 years old)
Glad they tweaked Copen's gameplay with the flight controls. I'm interested to play this one & the sequel eventually.
hop to it! can't go wrong with gunvolt imo
6:03 Well now we have it, in iX 2.
From the sounds of it, it's a good time killer.
A cool idea would be to have lola in her idol form auto pick up coins though the rank system actually having meaning other than a pat in the back is also a good idea
Also IX ost > 2
While iX's story is overall more simple than the first two games, the final hurdle more than makes up for it. Luminous Avenger iX gets really fucked up near the end, and that's saying a lot given how the mainline Gunvolt games already had their dark stuff here and there like Elise and Stratos. Even when I was already somewhat spoiled on my first playthrough, the reveal of the Butterfly Effect still made me go "What the actual fuck?", and beating Asimov felt so much more satisfying here than in GV1 because of how much more personal it felt, and that's saying a lot when his original boss fight in GV1 was already personal.
Have you tried the 2nd game in this spin off?
This one is my favourite, as the bosses actually provide a challenge, without the player needing to get some post-game equipment like the Broken Necklace or Lethal Lavaliere. In GV1 and 2, no HP caps just makes these bosses a joke most of the time.
I think Copen deserves an OVA in the Luminous Avenger IX version.
I had no idea Copen’s hovering ability was actually changed. Does it keep the changes in the Striker Pack?
no, gunvolt 2's copen plays just like he did in the 3ds original. not to say that it was bad before just laix brushes it up to a freakin t
I chose this game over the mainline because it got the Copen that I played from BMZ2.
Also, my favorite stage is the one with flying crates and idol boss. Isola and Rebellio are my favorite fight.
isola was one of my favorite bosses as well. the fight was really frantic and her moves were super satisfying to figure out and dodge
4:04 Actually, there is one who is in this game...
But we wish she wasn't, and not because she's unlikable, but because we just end up having a new reason not to sleep at night.
Too bad for u . IX-2 has even less story and even shorter , it also come with significant issue in gameplay balance and lock true ending behind "Dark soul mode"
15:13 ya got it
Well before I say anything I would like to mention that this was my first gunvolt game yes I started around a day after Luminous Avenger ix 2 came out I beat it the same day but I didn't regret it I also didn't know a single thing about the gunvolt games when I think about it I wasn't even sure what I expected from this game but I got nothing in terms of references from gunvolt 1 and 2, well it feels like a good place to start I don't know but some of the songs didn't feel right I'm gonna go back to it very soon again but it just wasn't as good as gunvolt 2
Not to be that annoying guy but I've recently gotten into Tales games and found this channel through your reviews and I enjoy all of your reviews in general. Do you have plans on a Tales of Arise revo review soon?
I like the sub series but they really feel like side dishes. Especially the new one.
i really gotta get my thoughts on the new game out soon, have a lot of things i wanna bring to the conversation. seen it get a lot of hate from the fandom haha
cuz they are intended to be filler
@@LTDLetsPlays even filler can be good. The second one is worse than filler
@@apukami3643 agreed even that was a disappointment the 2nd game
First ix game was enjoyable
@@LTDLetsPlays I like first one because the mystery of the situation and its final stretch. The 2nd one is the definition of pointless.
U got any thing to say on xi2 And gv3?
I am curious is this a reupload or something?
7:57 Actually, she's fourteen.
And at least Copen has the right mind to take notice of how she dresses.
now i wonder if you think IX 2 is bad
I gotta be honest, for much praise you give GV 2 and it's bosses, I think it has the weakest selection of bosses out of any Gunvolt game, and I think that IX was a considerable upgrade.
Sure, GV 2 has some really cool ones like Gibril, Teseo, and Tenjian, but it also has really forgettable and boring ones like Desna and Midas. Not to mention it has the only boss that I'd consider straight up bad in the series, Ghauri. The fact that it's the only GV game where I didn't love every single boss, their design, and their personality makes it the worse in that regard for me. The fact that I barely remembered that Zonda was in the game outside of two annoying boss fights doesn't help on the Villains department.
While in IX, I personally think that the bosses are much more interesting, in design, personality, and backstory. It also helps that most of them aren't even bad people at all and are only being forced to fight and die for Sumeragi. Hell, some of them even have connections with each other that you can see in game, which you can't say for pretty much ANY of the bosses in the previous game. And I also think that Dezemel/Asimov is the best final boss in any Gunvolt game simply because of how much of a despicable piece of shit he is, removing a little girl's brain and using her power to enslave all Adepts and wipe out most of humanity over the course of a century while keeping her conscious for every second of it.
Personally, Copen prefers the air.
I don't now if the game is good but... the pedo bait definitely puts me of! In the gunvolt series it isn't really a problem cuz its barely there, don't get me wrong its still a bit weard but in iX it feels almost illegal the whatch!!!
The two things I REALLY didn't like was the loli s!$= and the fact this game follows the bad ending of gunvolt 1 (seriously I thought this was following gunvolt 2 with the way it ended but no another youtuber "CliffCaps" who reviewed it figured this out by READING THE FREAKING ARTBOOK.......) without ever really telling you...
The game shows you that it takes place after the bad ending of gunvolt 1 during the cutscene before fighting Demerzel. There are other hints too like Lola's eye colour, Copen's new gun, Demerzel himself, Blade being similar to the Sumeragi ninjas, etc.
...The game litteraly shows you the scene where Asimov shot Gunvolt and Joule in GV 1's bad ending?
What the hell are you talking about?
