    So he costs himself his own trade value and he's mad? Lmao

      Yep! Could have pitch in October and made himself a legend and then got paid! He overplayed his hand.

      @@1TightMinute or, pitched more innings than he's ever pitched and blow out his arm and make no money.
      Can't blame the guy. The way teams "control" players and how little they pay them is ridiculous.

      @@babybison2881Guys are going to blow out their arms. It’s a matter of time. They all pitch again. He overplayed his hand expecting a desperate team to bite and he’s mad bc gm aren’t stupid and no one is getting saddled with a bad contract for a pitcher who hasn’t proven himself yet.

      @@1TightMinute he's still under team control from being drafted a few years ago. They can't negotiate contracts. They can only go into arbitration in the final 2 years, which is still well below fair market value. Guys don't hit FA until like 28-29.
      Should read up and learn about this stuff before speaking so flippant about guys blowing out their arms as if it's some casual thing that evey guy can bounce back from.

      @@babybison2881 name me SP in the last twenty years who has made it through his career without shoulders surgery or TJ. You might find one or two guys but my point is that’s it’s an outlier. On the plus sides, the surgeries have gotten a lot better than when they started and the recovery plans are worked out to a science. TJ isn’t a serious as it was 30 years ago. They maid major advancements UCL and there is the new stint surgery using a collagen mesh that Gerrit Cole that might actually be better. He’s going to blow out his arm bc guys put to much stress on their arms now and he will come back. Maybe he won’t do either but odds are way better that he does both. This has less to do with protecting his arm and more to do with leveraging the situation to get a payday. He’s been a SP for one year. No one is taking that chance. I don’t blame him for protecting his investment but these teams don’t owe him anything. Especially, the white Soxs. So he shouldn’t whine about the situation that he created. Is that enough knowledge for you.

    I think it’s ridiculous to ask for an extension when you’ve never been healthy & it’s your first year as a SP. Especially when it is contingent on the post season. He made it clear he’s not so much a team player, but money grabbing

      Smart move. Never pitched more than 50 or so innings. With bbc a playoff run he will be well over 200 innings. No GM’s think that is a smart use of his arm and will wear it out thus lowering his value. Get what he can get us smart. Teams always stick to the player. Glad it to be other way around.

  • @Kong-kg6ij
    @Kong-kg6ij Месяц назад +5

    He did it to himself. He's a WS because his agent put out he had to sign an extension to play in the playoffs. So no team would want that.

      This is what happens to these guys when they listen to a guy who only cares about his commission. He screwed himself, not just this year, but I guarantee other GMs saw this as a major red flag.

  • @teambigv
    @teambigv Месяц назад +4

    Let's be real teams don't want a reputation of not taking care of a pitcher not to mention the money they would have tied up in him. His agent should be fired and his character looks questionable now.

    This kind of reminds me of Rocky 2. Rocky won’t agree to a fight and Apollo wants a rematch. So he agrees to be the bad guy and humiliate him in the media to get Rocky into the ring. His people say, “If you take this humiliation tactic you’re setting yourself up to be the bad guy” and Apollo responds with “Whatever gets him in the ring man”. So Crochet had to know how this was going to look and he felt the rewards outweighed the risk. Give the guy credit for having the guts

  • @ddt3831
    @ddt3831 Месяц назад +1

    Although I certainly see Crochet's concerns, my feeling is if he's under contract, he's a over a barrell and needs to do what he's told - EVEN IF it causes him to blow out his arm. He's under contract to the Sox or anyone he's traded to. When he's a FA, he can add stipulations to his contract - until then, he really should have no say. He hasn't earned that right yet.

    When compared to Glasnow case, there's a huge difference: with Tyler, the TEAM conditioned the trade to the extension, not the other way around. Crochet is in a contract and should honor it. He wants more money? players in playoffs get a bonus AND with his arbitration coming he would surely get a raise according to this season performance

    To repay the favor I would send him out to the mound every 5 days for 100 pitches no matter what. Sure, he could claim to be injured but it would reflect poorly on him come contract time.

    Crochet picked the wrong sport to do something like this. This ain't the NBA, he has no leverage to force an extension or a trade. He and his agent need to keep their mouths shut and hope for a trade in the off-season if he wants out of Chicago. White Sox should shut him down this season because there's always a chance he'll get injured. That outweighs building up a little more resume.

    Who wouldn't hate it on the White Sox, all the players who did get traded couldn't wait to run out of the White Sox clubhouse fast enough while leaving town. They are 27-85, at this time and have lost 18 in a row, no one is happy to be on the White Sox this year. Until Jerry sells the team, management and coaching changes nothing about this team will change. The White Sox will continue to be the second worst franchise in MLB with only Oakland narrowly taking that crown..

    @DrewRitz Месяц назад +3

    There's nothing wrong with trying to protect your future, with all the factors surrounding him a deep playoff run is a major career changing injury potential and the guy hasn't made the lifetime money yet and I don't think the extension will be necessary in an off-season trade with a 2nd full season with a starter's workload under his belt, I think people really need to actually look at the factors around him this year. If a team gets him and use him to death and he needed and second Tommy John he's screwed, he's in arbitration for 2 more years, those are the 2 years he'd be out recovering. He's a human not a robot
