Frog, I don't know anything about this planet, but it's a Rasselhague world with one of the best names in battletech. Pomme de Terre. Apple of the Earth, or, less literally, Potato. Planet Potato. I MUST KNOW THE SECRETS OF PLANET TATER!
Given that my Merc company is called the P.D.T Ranger Corps, I second this. Would be interesting to see what an expert could bring out on our little Kurito-Rasalhagian farming colony!
This is exactly the sort of lore that really improves things. So many talk about some machine but the worlds and epic stories laying there in wait like a hungry Wendigoid pack are interesting in much deeper ways.
The planet Ishtar in the Tauran Concordat would be an interesting planet to learn more about. The write up in the Periphery book leaves me wanting to know more .
I suppose no one invading Rocky had orders to "get moose and squirrel". Poor Rocky, it sure lived down to its name, but I suspect there are many worlds like it scattered throughout the Inner Sphere and Near Periphery. But I can dig any planet that has yetis living on it.
If nothing else, the place seems like it would make a great staging ground for a small unit trying to keep its head down. Or for a game campaign that wanted access to a lot of places in a hurry. 2nd planet of a K-class star, so it's presumably close to the star, and being a smaller star, wouldn't be as great a distance to the jump points. Just turn up the heaters, pack some winter clothes, and get cozy.
i like the new overlay for these survey videos. feels right. Rocky seems to be yet anither battletech tragedy. people just want to keep their heads down and live a quiet life while everyone around them squabbles over them, seemingly without asking the locals what they want. and if the would be overlords cant have it, then it may as well die again, locals be dam-ned
Its interesting that this is one of the first planets we spotted, I wonder what system its in, and its a fascinating one that survived into the Battletech universe. Great vid as always.
Nice lore video on the world of Rocky. Given everything that world has been through, one could say the locals have fallen on... HARD times! I know that was too easy, I'll see myself out XD
I'm still enjoying this series on the planets of Battletech. I don't know a lot about the individual worlds, but of the ones I do, Tukayyid could be interesting to hear more about.
Finally got a chance to sit down and watch this! Thank you so much for all the effort you put into this video! I can’t wait to get a chance to read the Hunt for Jardine books! I genuinely enjoyed learning the history of this word, it puts into perspective how cruel the Star League civil war was and how genuinely mindless the Succession Wars got. And once again at the risk of jumping the shark, how much of a betrayal it was for Kerensky to take the SLDF and fuck off into the deep preiphery rather than at least trying to protect and rebuild the ruined worlds of the old Terran Hegemony. I know it would have been a Sisyphean task but still they were effectively left to be die and have their bones fought over by the SLDF.
I'm enjoying the content about some of the worlds of Battletech since the setting has so many of them. And it's nice to talk about some of them that aren't the commonly known ones like Tukyid, Terra, or the various capital worlds. Keep up the great work!
heres me hitting ALL the buttons. the nonsense must flow, and the only way to ensure it does is to ENGAGE!! To the buttons fair viewers! All the buttons!!
I hadn't heard of Rocky until watching this, but loved the video! New background is dope too. Big fan of this kind of lore - though maybe that puts me in the minority? Eh whatever. I'd love to see a vid on New Dallas. I know plenty of source material exists already but who has time for all that reading when you have The Frog available. Keep up the awesome work!
It didn't occur to me how common it was for systems and planets to just dissapear off the map like that. One can only imagine the tragedy of the population on these forgotten worlds. But, it does validate the existence og my homebrew systems including one I made as the origin of my homebrew merc unit and minor noble house. Also now that you'e done about I'd like to say 3 Planet Primer videos, you gotta check out the Bob system. Such a strange world
I really prefer these being about the lesser known planets rather than the famous ones like Solaris VII or Hesperus II. This is one I have never heard of, but damn that is a sad ending. I wonder if there are any worlds in battletech that were terraformed to be somewhat more habitable after taking a beating.
Great video.Hope you do more on the planets.Maybe Samantha won vehicles drop ships.Jump ships and anything going on in the dark age.I like the dark age about everything except the destruction of my lovely beloved nova cats
I know it's rather close to home, but I think Venus would be a really good choice for the next planet due to its proximity to Terra, and seeing how it steadily fell from grace since the Amaris Civil War.
Thanks for this, never heard of it( Sven may have mentioned it in his First Succession War video, but I don't remember). For our next one, can we get someplace less depressing, like Twycross or Out Reach?😂
Piles of planets are out there like this , you have to goto the end of the star league map to realise just how many planets like it there are ............ Tikonov , StIves or Chesterton next pretty please , as you know though I got a list
A friend of mine named his Merc company the "Rocky Wendigoids," and used that term to refer to men's genitals far longer than someone his age should have.
@@MechanicalFrog Sadly true, and sadly it is very common. Rocky is by far not an uncommon occurrence in the BattleTech universe, much less all the other SciFi universes.

Moons are called russet and Idaho

True that.
Since this is rocky, I am going to assume of course that within a single jump is also a corresponding planet called Bullwinkle 🙂.
The only university in the capital is called Whatsamatta.
Wow. Now I want more stories about the marginal and wretched remains of the succession wars. They could be endless. Thank you 😊

First off all hail the glorious nonsense. Second background is amazing an upgrade from the macintosh 🎉. Lastly I vote Taurus for next planet primer.
