This is the very first song I ever heard from Phil Wickham when I was a baby Christian, and I’ve been a fan of his ever since. His music always sets an atmosphere for worship. And you can feel that passion in every song. Glad I came back to this song today as a mature Christian. Full circle moment
I walked down the aisle at my wedding to this song almost 12 years ago!!!! Still such a great song. (So glad I got to experience his songs via his sister my friend at Bible College when he came to lead worship for the school and then shortly after that released this album.)
I lost my sister to suicide 22 years ago this month. Back then, I believed in God but His Spirit didn't really move in me (yet). I was still listening to commercial artists, and there was a band called Ours that had an album out that I listened to over and over again. It was dark and loud. Something that I'm not attracted to at all anymore! But, I have so missed the lead singer's beautiful voice. I've been a fan of Phil Wickham's music since his still-sends-my-heart-and-spirit-soaring song Your Love Awakens Me was on heavy Christian radio rotation in 2016. I'd just become fully alive in Christ a few years before, and I recall one of the main things that changed in me nearly overnight was my musical taste. That song was my favorite song that year; whenever I heard it on my bathroom radio as I was getting ready in the morning I would close the door, turn it up, and sing with utter and pure joy to the Lord for saving me!!! But, I never associated his voice with that of the singer of Ours...until hearing this song today. (I'm only now looking further back into his catalogue and am so blessed to be able to take such a deep dive in all that I missed prior to his work from 2016!). Thank you, God, for such a beautiful voice returning to my life in an ever higher power and such a more grace-filled package. Sending out a prayer for all tonight that you be embraced by Christ's tender care...no matter what you're going through. This life can be very difficult, but I cannot imagine having to make our way without the presence of God. May Christ pour out His Holy Spirit on more of our beleaguered planet, and allow this beautiful man's voice reach them and comfort them in his spectacular praise of our Most Glorious Creator! A special prayer for Phil, his wife and family -- may you be protected and feel God's presence all the days of your lives!
