Today we are staying in the cheapest hotel in Orlando, to see if it is any good and worth it for a budget holiday stay in Orlando. The hotel is the Palazzo Lakeside hotel in Kissimmee, Orlando, and we give you a full tour of the hotel facilities, the hotel grounds and surrounding area, our hotel room, show you their hotel breakfast, and give an honest review as this hotel has received some very bad reviews!

Watched a video of a gator being scared by a dog barking. I have never seen a gator move that fast. It was hilarious. The wriggle! Yeah, they sure can move!
Gators can run up to 35 mph, but tire quickly.

Not all hotels have a resort fee. I just stayed in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee got our honeymoon last week. We paid 78.00 and there was no resort fee but there weren't amenities like a pool. They had a full breakfast with make-your-own waffles and such. So that wasn't a bad deal with all the amenities you get. I agree they should include the resort fee. It's very expensive in Las Vegas and Reno Nevada. Often their resort fees are more than the hotel fee.

That's interesting to know about the resort fee, thanks for sharing. After this hotel we did stay in another that was higher priced, and that didn't have a resort fee so it could be that it is more commonly done by cheaper hotels, who knows! 😃

Gators are actually very fast when they want to be. If you ever find yourself having to run from one, running a zigzag pattern.

If you come to the beaches of NC, unless it's something new they've just started doing, I've never encountered a "resort fee" here.

Best thing about hotel breakfasts is our family always wakes up at 6Am and goes down first thing when it opens. Then we eat, and go back to sleep for an hour or two before getting up for the day lol.

Alligators are no joke!
If you look at hotels and restaurants there should be coupon books every where to help you also save even more money . I hope it helps . Enjoy your stay .

Extended stay America. We just checked. Jacksonville FL. They charged us $100 deposit. Good to note everything & record room prior. ;) we are paying $365 a week. Locked in for 6 months. Love the kids hangout.

Floridian here who can use a Florida resident discount. I didn’t think any GOOD hotels could be that affordable. Right now I can book this same room..for $0. Yes, ZERO DOLLARS lol. It’s on Expedia for $0 a night for the room, I’d just have to pay $30 in fees.
I’m really surprised you had to bring your own milk for breakfast! That’s one thing that seems to be getting more common in places is alternative milks! 🙈
It’s so interesting to see this we had a similar situation in Puerto Rico we stayed in a budget friendly place that was residential and €30 a night which is so cheap! But we couldn’t get it for our whole stay so we said we’d try one of the hotels for a few nights and it was around €140 a night so major difference but there was definitely pros and cons to both places.
I agree even here in Japan in the economy business hotels they offer a selection when I go and stay with work. I think it’s because a tourist resort.

This cheaper hotel was the only place that either didn't have a plant based milk, or even know about it, or was willing to get one as that usually seems to be the response in most places. Everywhere else has been fine though 😊
I enjoyed when I went to Florida, the only thing I found slightly difficult was getting any vegetarian options, always a salad 😅 My hotel was attached to a large steak restaurant and even going to universal studios there were limited options, but you get creative lol Would still go back as I enjoyed it! Hope you all had/have a good holiday ☺️🏴

Yes, the availability of meat free options is less than the UK, so it takes a bit more work and as you said - creativity! So far we've been doing ok, it sometimes depends on what restaurant or store you're in and the person you speak to, as some are more familiar with meat free options than others 😃

Everyone, if you’re gonna stay anywhere in Orlando, expect to not just pay a resort fee, but also parking fee! Which can range from $5-$30 a day. I stayed at a resort that had a $10 parking fee daily. Now? It’s $30 a day. Imagine someone staying for 14 days! You’d think they’d waive it for longer stay guests but nope.
I am fascinated by your vegan lifestyle. I would like to hear how you came to that decision. It seems to really limit the foods that are available to you. Thanks for the video and response to my question.

Enjoying these holiday videos! The hotel looks really lovely, love the outside area and the Lego area even as a young adult looks so cool. The extra cost is a bit cheeky with them not adding that into the price or info.

Katy needs to go to gatorland here in FL. Lol gators can run fast. Run in. Z PATTERN😂 ZIGZAG 😂.. But really normally they won't bother you. Just be aware when getting close to waters.

resort fees are cheeky, we had no idea they existed until we went to Vegas, we stayed at the Vdara which is really really nice but it had a high the resort fee which we never knew about and we go the hotel on a cheap deal. Once we got over it we really used all the facilities... like free newspaper by the pool, towel service, the pillow menu, turn down service, like the resort fee ended up included so much luxurious stuff we wouldn't even think to ask for... we had a great time 🤣 they really need to make it clear resort fees exsist tho and how much per night!!!! it really catches you out and if you didn't have budget for it it could throw a spanner in the works... we just put it on the credit card and paid it off later so we didn't ruin our holiday, but it's not great.

@@FamilyFreedom Resort fees usually only exist in vacation type areas. It's not everywhere across the U.S.
I might be wrong, but when we've stayed at a hotel, we've never had a resort fee. I wonder if it's just for foreigners? We're going to Disney in October and I've not seen this fee, unless it's included in the price over here. Enjoy the rest of your vacation and keep making the great shows.

Last time I stayed in Orlando I stayed at the hotel kinetic which is now the hotel Landy. I highly recommend it. HOWEVER they charge a daily resort fee and a daily $30 parking fee, plus parking isn’t even guaranteed because they let non hotel guests park at the resort and pay the fee. So once you park, you’re not really supposed to move. Which sucks if you’re not just doing the Disney thing. I think for the 11 days we stayed, there was an additional $500 in just fees from the resort fees, parking, etc.
Gators are super common in Florida. Seeing them on the side of road is not out of the question

I have to say that i dont think I'd fall asleep on one of those hammocks a) cause if you had your arm hanging out it might not be there when you wake up amd gators can jump quite high so b) you might not be there at all when everyone else wakes up 😂 Anyway hope you're having the best time. When I went to Orlando in 2006, I bought the City pass and found it saved me money on many local attractions. I took full advantage and it was worth it. I ate my first deep dish pizza there…so good. I hope you make it to Legoland.

You are correct. That resort fee is ridiculous. They never charged for that years ago. I had worked for a major Airline for years, traveled all the States, and Europe. Then I can't recall what year it was but I had checked out of the Hilton, and see all these fees. I questioned them, and they told me that's a new policy. I asked why was this not disclosed to me when I booked the room, and checked in. The response was I don't know. After that anyone I booked with, I asked about any fees ahead of time. It's really a rip off.
The money is worth it for the kids room alone! 😍
Resort fees are resented everywhere they are charged. Lawmakers at the state and federal level have instituted investigations (politicians!) but the hotels are resisting providing any info on what the fees are based. Resort fees are illegal in some states and individual cities.

Look up palmetto bugs (still cockroaches), very common down there. When I lived there, we would spray every 6 weeks to get rid of them.

the resort fee isnt fair if you use the pool you shouls get a band and u get a towel if you have one and then the charge is added to your bill

It’s Florida. I’ve been in 5 star RESORTS and have seen palmetto bugs and roaches lol. We pay sooooo much money for pest control, and still, you get the occasional roach or palmetto bug inside the house. I woke up one night to one on my bedroom wall. Told my dad to get a shot gun when he said he was getting a shoe lol. It was massive. Hadn’t seen one in months but still couldn’t sleep that night. I’d say I get 1-3 in the house per year. It’s terrible lol.
You also need to check for bed bugs in these places. They’re pretty rampant in the States.

For £12 a head including breakfast (resort fee, should be mentioned, though) it was a bargain. You are in the tropics. They need to control roaches, mosquitoes, etc. and sorry to say it, but if prices are low, you run the risk of attracting visitors that will get tanked up and trash the place!

They will probably put the key charge on your bill at the end of your stay

A lot of British holiday parks have a extra charge for the entertainment with is the same as the resort fee you were on about but I think the same it should all be one price

We rented a property which worked out a lot cheaper for us, I have heard some horror stories bed bugs, etc… some motels are not very safe. I would agree I would sleep in the car my anxiety is would be off the scale. You should have come to Japan your getting more for your pound at the moment!!!
The resort fee piddles me off... iv just got back from Vegas and we stopped in thr excaliber that was 39 dollars then had to pay 150 dollars for deposit that's refundable xx

Totally should be included, if you're on a budget and yiu think you've got a good deal and suddenly theres over 20 quid extra every day. I personally wouldn't be happy about that.

The parking is free (I think that is what the resort fee covers too), and yes, the breakfast was vegan friendly enough, as we were able to get more than enough food to fill us up! 😊
If staying longer, we'd be covered for breakfast each day, but would have to eat out for the other meals. There are plenty of places nearby like Taco Bell so we'd be fine 👌
What does the resort fee include so you pay it but at your hotel what did it get you for paying extra
Good question. In general a resort fee tends to be for 'additional things' to the that are on the resort such as a pool, parking, certain facilities and activities. Personally, we feel it would be better to have it all included in just 1 price prior to booking 👌

We don't make our own mayo, we usually buy it. For healthy fats we eat avocados, a variety of nuts and/or seeds, coconut to name but a few 👌

Fruit look yummy I am in hospital as needed emergency surgery after car accident with wife I cant get luck as this is second one in a year. We was away just for week just us family had kids we started yesterday. Now we both stuck hospital. We happy we on same ward the nurse just said this morning it was the first she had to have a married couple on the same ward older kids 3 and they auntie is coming to see us tommrow. So can have two on her bedside two on mine make it work. Lol as two per bed .
