Been there several times. Most trips no one bothered me except scammed. But one trip I did have a guy try to steal my wallet and me and everyone I wqs with on same trip had to leave a huge banquet as they said gun men were trying to come in from front.
But I've been there several times in a year and most times people have been amazing. Nice fun helpful kind. I love Haiti.
I wish it wqs better and the people safe. I've only been to the capital port au prince and delmas. And I felt safe to be honest. Even with that one back 3 day experiance
It needs more people going there. And we as a world need to help them
@hakuten Since you are a frequent visitor to the country I must ask whether you have a personal relation to it: family, friends or business or all the above? Asking just because might be different (the experience) of someone who had never been there vs. someone that knows quite a few people in the area. I hope the country will improve with a help from outside. It is a pity the level of crime taking over the whole life and economy development there. I was thinking whether it was a wise idea visiting it, since I travel with a small child and a husband and maybe as of now is more like a : wait a few more years.
I only know 2 people there. I went for business and pleasure depending on trip.
