For me, this was more about the concept of what's actually happening than the mod itself, really interesting! Make sure to check out the Clapton Interview : waylonmcpherson-shop.fourthwall.com/supporters/video_embeds/91082

@@WaylonMcPhersonGuitar oh yeah it's interesting for sure. It's just the way people fawn over Clapton being the 'inventor ' of woman tone when all it was, was winding the tone off lll
The woman tone was more revolutionary because of the gain from Marshall amps, prior to that, turning the tone off typically just made your sound dull and less vibrant. Clapton wasn't near the first to fiddle with a tone knob, but was certainly one of the earliest and most well known to combine the setting with proper gain. To the first point, why not link to the original video in this video's description? It seems unsavory to copy the publicly available video just to upload and lock it behind your own site's registry.
Could have just tacked the cap from the ground lug of the pot to the switch and saved a wire, half a switch, and some crucial control cavity space. Also a great way to tie the lug to the case without the stress from bending over. Leo Fender was the king of letting the capacitor companies pay for his hookup wire and ground busses with excess capacitor leg.
That is so cool! I love how you do this and explain how you work it out, well done 👍 I saw that interview on one of those coca cola music weekends on tv in the 80's and it's always stuck in my head id never seen him play an SG/Gibson will jave to check it out again thanks for the share/info! 😎🙏🕊️✨
I guess I have to put it down to this kind of thing just being a fun hobby for some people, but it really makes no sense to me to do a wiring mod on a guitar to achieve something you can achieve just by rolling down the tone knob. (Nothing against mods in general, I’ve done the 50’s Gibson wiring mod on a couple of my guitars, but that was just because there was no other way to achieve what that does, without modding it).
My first thought after watching this video was... "but, why the push/push when you can just wire in a 22 cap and roll down the tone?"... so yeah, I'm right there with you -- this is an absolutely cumbersome mod. It's taking an unnecessary long way to get somewhere. Is it really that difficult for someone to roll down the tone pot and switch pickups when they're ready to solo? I mean, sure, pushing a button could shave off about 500 milliseconds, but yeah, nah! This mod is the equivalent of modern chat abbreviations with people too lazy to spell out words.

I found you about 3 epi's ago. You are very correct and easy to listen too.
Amazing. Clapton was the first person to roll his tone off ever
I would like to have heard the 15nF cap. The smaller cap surely would be less muddy?

I love this, I have never seen a video or read a comment about anything like this! 🤟🎸😏 😄
I was giong to say the same!

Your video channel is always an inspiration! Great sounds!
Is this just a convenient way of rolling the tone off, or does it sound somehow different than rolling off the tone?
Brilliant analysis!
Awesome mod Waylon. Cheers!!
I go the other way. No tone knobs on my guitars. If i wanna roll off high end(i don’t) id do it with EQ

@@Phil_TrujequeThe mod is done because it can be done, and also doing it teaches people why the tone is as it is.
@@michaelvarney. • Fair enough!
I too think that, Clapton use just the stock 22nf capacitor. I have tried both and my opinion 22 sings more.
Would there be a simple way to sweep the resonant peak across the whole spectrum vs just rolled all the way down?
That is a Wah pedal :)
It sounds like he is also going through a wha wha backed up to the sweet spot
For some reason I''m fixated on the fact that the cap was used on both poles instead of one.
It looked cooler :)
Electro-Harmonix Cock Fight Talking Wah Effect Pedal
I just roll off the tone or use a cocked wah.
The tone is great, but I’ve always hated the name “woman tone”. 😖
I second that
What’s in a name?
then call it the Clap tone
The notes do seem to "woo" to my ear so we could go with WooMan tone.
Why would one hate on something with the name “woman” in it?
Nano farad? Not 22 micro farad?
22nF is the same as 0,022uF
We”re working with audio, not filtering ac ripple on DC 😂😂
Clapton may be evil,
Ask George.
❤🔥
Chick it out 😊
Clapton was, is and always will be nothing but a One Trick Pony.
It's just my opinion, but I don't think he should rank beside Hendrix and Page in the "best guitarist" lists the way he often does.
@castleanthrax1833 He shouldn't even be on the list.
Clapton is nothing but the punchline of a shitty joke.
@castleanthrax1833 Hahahaha, kid,you know nothing.
Where's your music? That "one trick" as you say, has made him millions and a 50 +- yr long career. So I ask again, Where is your music?!!!!
What have you been smoking 😂
Interesting but pointless.
