On the strength of DRG, this is a day one purchase of four copies for my team. If this drops as early access, I doubt I'd be able to stop myself from buying it. Here's hoping for a 2025 release.
It looks like that since it's not even in alpha. A lot of models will be replaced, polished etc. Ofc it looks similar since it has the same unique style
It started off as an expansion and gradually became its own thing as they had more and more ideas for it and didn't want to be tied down by the drg gameplay loop
This looks incredible. Unlocking weapons and skills as you progress can make for some really fun games, I can’t wait to see what variety we can see in the team!
Im just a bit worried because even though this is a separate genre it feels way too similar to DRG, and the last time a franchise I loved competed with itself (PAYDAY) it turned out really, really bad in the long-term... Also worried the playerbase will split. Other than that looks fantastic.
This is my issue, it feels like it should have been a seperate gamemode tied to some weekly assignments. I mean, IT IS a Roguelite like Vermintide 2s Chaos Wastes gamemode and that was not a seperate game to split the community up. I love GSG but this feels like a weird misstep.
They tried that at first, but it was too limiting. Everything had to be balanced with main game in mind, and systems had to work in both. Now in rogue core, since even the story is completely separate from main game, they are free to do whatever they want. They already have plans for more classes than in drg. And loads more weapons. No enemies from the main game either. This is very different from Chaos Wastes and I hope you will see that when the game hits early access late next year
This is a concern of mine as well. Has been since it was announced. But nonetheless I am hopeful it'll be a solid standalone title, and heck, I know I'll be throwing money GSG's way regardless unless Rogue Core REALLY flops, which I doubt will be the case.
GSG, I love you guys, but this honestly feels like it could have been an alternate Gamemode (Such as how Vermintide 2 has the Chaos Wastes mode as its Roguelite) instead of an entirely different game. It seems like it is just going to end up splitting the community.
This trailer does not do Rogue Core justice. The dev stream gives you so much more info, including a bunch of new enemies, 5 maybe 7 new classes to play as. Also the dwarves will have completely new armor. The armor shown now are all placeholders.
