biggest hurdle is that inference is slow, and calling those api's responsible for text to voice makes so that it will speak over the speaker. I have worked on similar projects and just listening to the loudness to determine if the human is speaking or not is not enough. You could use a bart low latency small model to check for words to understand if the current output should be interupted.
Robots are becoming more hilarious as they get better lol crazy how it made its own conversation of the rockets and sound like trump was saying it but without the voice, that moment really impressed me and gave a good laugh. Slough it did seem like it mid understood the preferences of the questions in parts it came real close
As amazing as this is, I thought by now Ameca would have mastered bipedal walking. You already mentioned it a couple of years ago, she can emote, she can talk, she can use her arms, we need bipedal walking!
