Very helpful! I'm in my 1st season practicing and we start getting autumn waves here in Turkey in October, I just struggle with launching through them((
Thanks for the tips! Good vid, it took me years of training to get in at my home spot - on some days it is similar to Hove but dead onshore and sandy...also sometimes underpowered. Has been easier to ride 4 meter waves than to get in that thing :D
Legend has it that a PWA event came to Hove one year - they launched at high tide and half got mashed. Pro or not, Hove shorebreak doesn't care, it will eat you if you get it wrong!
Yeah the PWA event ran for a few years in Brighton between the piers. The shorebreak was bad one year and it took down a lot of people. Us mortals can avoid high tide on days like this and still get a.good sail. But the Brighton - Hove shorebreak can be very tough on big days at high tide. All about timing ... timing of when you sail ... timing to go at a falt momnet and not make a mistake...

Well done - you are so right the getting out in onshore rough days can be so tough.
Great tips!
Very helpful. The shore break on that beach looks very nasty!

And, how with heavy board and sail? Thangs

Don't faff about in the shorebreak at Hove - you'll get destroyed.
