- What is the best Starter Pokemon? The best Starter in Kalos is Finally Here! But what is the best starter in Pokemon X and Y? Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie all are beloved within the community. But which starter is the best? Choosing a Starter is always the most important and pivotal decision to make for your journey. Of course there is no right or wrong decision on what starter to pick, but there is definitely a BEST pokemon to pick that would benefit you the most. So today I and Truegreen7 will help you guys make the right decision on what statistically is the best Kalos starter. At one point I reset Y and tried out Fenneking just to see if it was really that terrible.
And holy crap, that thing is a MONSTER. She could decimate anything on her way with a psychic of fire blast/flamethrower, outsped almost everyone and was surprisingly bulky.
It became my favorite of the three.

I really struggle picking the Kalos starter, I love them all.
I struggled between chespin and froakie, but i chose froakie in the end.
For Kalos, I would immediately pick Froakie... To me he is the coolest...

Correction: Chesnaught CAN do super effective damage to Electric type Pokémon. Chesnaught actually learns Mud Shot at level 41.
Although that is true, it isn't necessarily a great idea due to Chesnaught's mediocre Special Attack and Mud Shot's low power
Chesnaught can get Dig, Bulldoze and Earthquake, and all these three moves are much better.

@@Wreckbot_ GEN 6 is very easy even thou i off the exp share and I do double run.First with Chespin then Froakie i litterly oh ko everything with Greninja and Chesnaught but i pick my Chespin with Sassy nature so it was a pure bulk and My Greninja do OH ko every thing but when he got a nutral hit it always be down to half or In lower pinch hp it really sucked at gym battle so i didn't bother usuing in there.
Conclusion:I do really see difference between them but both were solid and if you used Protean greninja you can easily sweep anthing and at last Pokemon games are very eaily done but with a exception of complete (Gen 5 and Heart Gold and Soul silver) And picking starter is your choice you choose whatever you like people may Don't like your ones but 𝒀𝑶𝑼𝑹 𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒀𝑶𝑼𝑹 𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔

I mean even without the poison types its 2 stab types plus shadow ball make it useful for 5/8 gym leaders and 1 of the elite 4. Plus there are plenty of water options in Kalos.

My Delphox was actually a total beast the whole way through. He always had my back, and he will always be one of my absolute favorite starters. Fennekin, Braixen and Delphox are all just stunningly beautiful pokemon. 😍

In my first play through of X, I taught grass knot to my delphox and completely obliterated the late game.
lex 546 Cool greninja can learn grass knot aswell, it doesnt need to because it gets better moves but hey the though counts,
When I played pokemon Y, it was my first game. I chose Fennekin because I thought it was cute. I had absolutely NO idea what I was doing, but Fennekin actually gave me an easy time. The team flare grunts were easily taken out by the Hawlucha and Krookodile I had picked up, and along the rest of the way, Fennekin just became overleveled and swept the game. Fennekin still is and will always be my favorite Kalos starter.

My favorite starter is Fennekin, and while it didn't win, I watch these best starter videos because I want to see what other people think when it comes to battle. Also, with all 3 starters you just have to build up a good team and, no matter which starter you pick, except for walls like Korrina, Lysandre and Diantha, you are practically going to be UNSTOPPABLE. ;)

I chose Fennekin cause I thought a Fire/Psychic type would be pretty cool and since it's the only one out of the 3 not to be killed by Fairy types,
though looking at Froakie's move pool, it can learn Bounce to cover its weakness to grass, fighting, and bug types (cause bug types are strong against dark types) and Extrasensory to cover its weakness to Fighting and also take down poison type PokeMon, and also Smack Down to take kill not only Fire type PokeMon but also Ice, Flying, and Bug types.
Chespin actually can learn Bite to counter its weaknesses towards Psychic and Ghost types as the game goes on, and then Chesnaught can learn Mud Shot to counter its weaknesses towards Poison and Fire.
most of those are only learned by either tm's or move tutors (what are not in XY).

It's pretty much charizard/greninja or Delphox/venusaur when fire sweeps most gyms while the other takes care of anything else while venusaur for some reason gets 120 power petal dance at level 32 what is just op as all heck at that point of the game

My opinion on the Kalos starters:
Chespin: Cute. I love it.
Quilladin: Less cute, less spherical, and Generation 6 version of Rowlet. I personally like it.
Chesnaught: Too much of a change from Quilladin, but looks cool.
Fennekin: Less cute than Chespin, but still good.
Braixen: Not sure where the branch comes from, but looks pretty good.
Delphox: I seem to like it far more than everyone else.
Froakie: I love frogs. Also, I had a female Froakie as my starter in Pokémon X. So, I love it.
Frogadier: See Froakie.
Greninja: Would have liked to see it retain its Frubbles, but it was my go-to reliable Pokémon for most of my Pokémon X playthrough. It's grown on me a lot. Definitely my favorite Kalos final-evolved starter.
My summary of quilladin:
Grass type pignite.

I realize that complicates all of the work, but this game does put a big emphasis on mega-evolution and you do get the second starter relatively early.
I can agree froakie is the best kalos starter...

The thing about Pokemon X and Y is that you also have to factor in the Pokemon you are handed throughout the game; and yeah, you could always choose to not use them, but how many people can honestly say they chose to store Lucario after getting one? And Lucario is part of why one might want to choose Fennekin; since Lucario can obliterate Greninja and other Dark-Type Pokemon.

I remember beating the champion with my Chestnaught. Sure, Mega Blastoise did most of the damage towards Mega Gardevoir, but Chestnaught was able to withstand an attack from her then dishing out the final blow. RIP. I had a good time with Delphfox as well. But I couldn't get enough of my Greninja. Hell, I might even switch out the normal Greninja with my Ash Greninja

Another factor with choosing a starter in X and Y is you also get a Kanto starter: Bulbusaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, which all get mega evolve forms. So here's my opinion on which Kanto Starter to pick with your X and Y starter. Something else too is once you beat the Elite Four, Shauna will ask you to trade a PokeMon for a certain egg which would be one of the starters. Example, if you pick Fennekin you get a Chespin, If you pick Froakie you get a Fennekin and vice versa. So overall, here's my opinion (feel free to disagree)
If you choose Fennekin, I would pick Squirtle since you'll get Chespin that way you have a Fire starter, Water Starter, and Grass Starter.
Froakie I would pick either Bulbusaur or Charmander, even though you get Fennekin after the Elite Four Mega Charizard in PokeMon X becomes Fire/Dragon, unless you'd rather get a Fletchling which its final form Talonflame is Fire/Flying.
Chespin I'd definitely pick Charmander that way after I beat The Elite Four I can get a Froakie since Froakie is the best starter.
If TMs are included, Fennekin would have won. Delphox can learn dazzling gleam. (TM)
Delphox doesn't learn dazzling gleam in xy but in oras and gen 7 while greninja NEEDS TM's to have good reliable moves in main game because it has one of the worst move pools by level up any starter has even seen with 60 power water pulse being its main water move and 60 power feint attack as its dark type move until end game if you don't give it surf/scald and dark pulse with TM's.
mywlan2 true but greninja can learn night slash by move releaner and water pulse should be good to help you out until you learn hydro pump and greninja can learn excersencry for fighting types
night slash is still only a 70 power physical move on a pokemon with below average attack stat but lets be real here that nobody uses move relearner unless they accidentally replaced a move they didnt want to be replaced while 60 power moves like water pulse dont do well at all in mid/end game where everyone uses moves that are around 80-100 in power while at the time greninja learns hydro pump your ether already won the champion or are so over leveled that it doesnt even matter

protean is NOT an ability greninja has when you get one as a starter while life orb is only used in competitive scene and not in main game while nobody uses waterfall on greninja anyways when its attack stat is a weak 95

Great analysis, it's even making me consider restart the run I'm currently playing and try Chespin, I started Y recently because I stopped caring about Pokemon for some reason after Black and White and suddenly decided to keep playing the main games, I started with a Froakie, reset until I got a Modest nature, super trained it to max SpA and Speed, decided to not use Exp Share because I heard it breaks the game and makes it too easy so I just trained him the old ways and keep him at the front of my party most of the time.
And somehow found myself having a Greninja as the weakest of my team, most likely for not having the right moves, but I just can't find useful TM's for him and I end up just switching to my also Modest Charizard, Mega Evolve and oneshot anything with a Drought boosted Flameburst/Flamethrower, it's kinda nuts how OP it is, even Pokemon that resists Fire get oneshot most of the time and don't even get me started on how Aegislash never dies and cleans any Pokemon left if I somehow manage to get my Charizard defeated, I don't really want an OP team (since those 2 already are) but having my starter being the least useful of my team doesn't feel right.
By TM Greninja can learn, ice beam, cut, grass knot, and aerial ace.
