Some notes from mine I did, the rear can be pulled out using a pry bar it will not shoot out as they are uncompressed and it is safe. You can remove the upper and lower rubber mounts for more of a drop. I saw about a 1/4 inch more of a drop on top of the 1.3 inch drop in the rear.
A good and helpful video, thanks for the info. My wife's Z3 had about 3 inches break off the bottom of a rear spring. She has never taken the car over 70 mph, so I found a pair of OEM Lesjofor's rear coils on Amazon that I feel confident I can replace. I might as well do my shocks back there while I am at it. I haven't found ANY already spring-loaded front strut assemblies, so will have to figure that out later. I am going to keep all the springs and shocks I get OEM to maintain the ride and handling as is. It should improve in any event since it has 175K miles on the original parts.
Your yellow Koni's are adjustable, what setting do you have yours on ? Koni sells them at the softest setting, with their provided separate knob you can counter clockwise rotate to stiffer wants.
I own the same car, at high speeds on the expressway even an illegal 100mph the steering is not "twichy" at all, but my car is properly aligned, it has more stability then full size cars. As good as my prior Porsche 911 which had a whale tail yet the little Bimmer does not. Remarkable.
Good Morning This is a very good video I just completed installing the rear shocks and I have exact set up as you have. I want to know what preload did you set them? I have mines at 50/50
Well done video. Would have been awesome to have some real world lateral g comparisons of before and after. Maybe before you do your next mod. I liked and subscribed us low subscriber folks gotta help each other out. Keep up the work and don't give up. Maybe add some bg music faint while talking and slightly higher during fast forward parts. I really liked the explanations I think you can make it big if you keep it up.
I've driven coil over equipped cars, and they're great for racing but they will beat you to death on the street even when you turn them down to their lowest setting.
I received contact from H&R and they only make them in red for the Z3. Any input on how to make them black without peeling off the red powdercoat is appreciated. Thanks in advance. FYI, I wanted blue because my other 2 bimmers have blue.
K B obviously you don’t need to unzip. I just always wondered why put a zipped in window in a soft top and realized what it was for. Germans always over engineering lmao. How do you like your hard dog?
K B honestly I don’t like the lowering springs. I got a set of BC br series and they are really nice. Gives up some comfort. But makes up for it with the quick response. Definitely recommend

I’ve been deciding between cheap coilovers and stock shocks with lowering springs and this video had all the info I needed!

Is wise to take care of the rust that you find on the parts you find.

I’ve heard that the rear drops more than the front. Has it been a noticeable difference aesthetically and does it affect the handling in any way?

Which bump stops did you use? I remember on my e36 I used the e36 m3 ones because they were shorter? Did you use the stock z3 ones and trimmed them?
Your control arm rubbers looked perished so it would be even better with those changed
Did you pick the red? I'm about to pull the trigger at Turner's and they show theirs in red. I want them blue.

Are you going to go racing now with those brakes!?
Heavy duty tie straps work
what springs did you get ? what size ? thanks
Nice video!!!
How do you get to the top of the rear strut tower
Ya I figured that out. I also realized why the back window zips in. You unzip it and it makes getting to ST much easier

If it was M car you will have change of mind 😊
How did you fix your camber
Need a correction kit welded onto the rear subframe. Ireland Engineering is one of many companies that sells a kit
Will I be able to camber the rear
When you lower it, the rear cambers by design
@@thetumanshow you add the spring perch pads to regain normal camber, or weld in the adjustment tabs onto the subframe for camber and toe adjustment
