    Hear the power of this organ's foundation of 16ft ranks rather than the more usual 8ft, same pitch as a piano.

    This was the hauntingly beautiful piece of music that was played at the end of the Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Absolutely beautiful! Magnificently played. Well done!

      It was also played earlier at the end of the funeral of her husband Prince Albert. Absolutely stunning. In the end they decided to leave this earthly realm in the same way, together.

    Holy shit that organ sounds so powerful

    • @peteacher52
      @peteacher52 2 года назад +3

      That is because it is built on a foundation of 16' pipes rather than the more usual 8' foundation, which is piano range; 16' an octave lower. If you can locate it, listen to the Chandos CD of Piet Kee playing here, especially the Walther partita.

    As this was one of the first organs to have a separate console, while still being a tracker-action, the trackers ran under the floor. I read once that it wasn't fully sorted out until about 25 years ago!

      True. Gabler was not in the class of the Schnitgers, Silberman and Batz dynasties, and he couldn't finish the Weingarten project, to the chagrin of the church authorities, who had to call in other builders to sort out the problems - which were on-going for some time to come.

    Lovely but apparently the builder botched the 32ft Bombard reed and so had to convert it into another 16ft. A thunderous 32 in that acoustic would have been amazing but it still sounds amazing.

    Eine wunderschöne und klangvolle Barockorgel, bin mir nicht sicher muss aber die groesste Orgel in Baden-Württemberg sein

    • @michaelmartens7728

      Wenn man die beiden Glockenspiele mitrechnet, hat die Orgel 65 klingende Stimmen - die größte originale Barockorgel Süddeutschlands, gehörte in ihrer Erbauungszeit zu den weltgrößten Orgeln. Ulmer Münster (Bj 1969) hat 98, Mannheim Christuskirche (Bj 1911) 96, Stiftskirche Stuttgart (2004) 81 Register.

    Ist das peinlich, dass ich bis gerade geglaubt habe, es gäbe solche bedeutenden Barockorgeln eigentlich nur in Sachsen, Thüringen, Norddeutschland und den Niederlanden?

    Koopmans Spiel ist überzeugend, aber - auch wenn ich historisch vielleicht falsch empfinde - mir sind 14 Minuten Dauerplenum einfach zu viel.

      +Ammersee75 ich bin fast der gleiche meinung. Ich wuerde fast annehmen das er so langsam spielt dauerplenumbedingt.. die luft maschine shaft das nicht ...LOL

      @spiritussanctusband 4 года назад +2

      @@seanmarshall9764 ich glaube, da ist ziemlicher Hall, wenn er schneller spielt, verwischt das alles nur noch. Eigentlich spielt Koopmann meist sehr schnell. Das ist eine der wenigen eher langsamen Aufnahmen.

    He never changes keyboard ? Or registration ? Quite monotonous like that. And I find the Fuga quite slow and heavy.

    • @MitchBoucherComposer
      @MitchBoucherComposer 3 года назад

      There is a section in the fugue where he changes manuals, I think. A bit of an 'echo' effect somewhere.

    • @williamlewis4318
      @williamlewis4318 3 года назад +2

      Changing registration wouldn’t be period-accurate. First of all they didn’t have pistons then and the instruments were tuned in unequal temperaments, so the change of key would be enough to satisfy rather than changing dynamics. With equal temperament that effect was lost. Changing registration or manuals or both when moving onto the fugue would be perfectly accurate, depending on how the fugue was intended to sound dynamically in the first place.

    ..qui koopmano è palesemente contraddittorio..
    quando si esgue Bach si deve mantenere sempre la stessa scelta interpretativa..
    ..questa composizione è .... ma se eseguita non sapendo da dove ne dove si va'...
    è bravissimo, ma non lo capisco...Bach è coerente sempre...gli interpreti noh,
    ...perchè? no all'appiattimento, tutti uguali,ma adesione al pensiero e alla concezione dell'ideatore della composizione dovrebbero guidare...e poi ricordarsi di essere interpreti... e non Bach!
