Amazing later composition by Britten in an absolutely scintillating performance by the much-missed Richard Hickox with the Bournemouth SO. Great recorded sound as well. The Suite, by turns high-spirited and sombre, is one of the best treatments of the English Folk Tradition I've ever heard. Certainly, for me, one of Britten's finest compositions.

A very special thanks to Sir Adrian, Sir John, Sir Charles, Vernon, and of course Richard Hickox for exposing me to so much beautiful, wonderful English music.
My soul is better for it😊
