I lived in Riverside and San Bernardino counties but I worked at LAX so I would occasionally drive through these hoods especially if the 105 freeway was too congested. Most of the homeless are on drugs so they choose the street. California we get a high amount of transients as well. Rundown don’t make it dangerous. A lot of people make the mistake of going to South LA thinking it’s not bad because it’s not run down. That’s until you start seeing graffiti on the walls telling you what neighborhood your in and then some guys looking to press you because you got the wrong hat, wrong belt color, wrong sports team clothes. Unlike in the east coast where it’s just a bunch of off shoot gangs who really are more in it to hustle, in LA they gang bang. It’s just more dangerous. Don’t believe me, look up a Los Angeles murder map and you’ll see an area with over a hundred dots then look at a murder map of Chicago and find one area with the most murders in it. You’ll find that they are about the same.

That's a fact. You haven't seen the sun set until you visit LA. It's absolutely gorgeous, particularly with the mountains. I'm from NYC. I see the sun set on a full horizon maybe 20 times a year.
