  • This Logan model 210 11 inch lathe has been one of my most used tool in the shop. I replace the A/C 1hp single phase motor for a 3hp D/C motor and a speed controller from a treadmill. I hand fabricate all the parts needed to install this variable speed control.

    Very neat boxes made with your diy finger brake. I love seeing projects piggy back like that. Thanks for sharing!

    I'm blown away by the level of quality you turn out and the durability & strength, function and fit. Wow! That finger brake work was so crisp. Your lathe is now so nice it deserves a nice cleanup. Easy for me to say, but maybe we can crowd fund the effort and hire someone like Dennis Turk to do it. Great video, and I learned a lot.

    Hello there! I have a solution for the problem about switching from one side or another. Make your switch arrangement, but the actual switchingdo it with solid state relays. So wherever electricity is still generating because the motor hasn't stop. if for some reason you did change direction, when the electricity is going back, it stays back in the solid state relay. Which has no spikes, or anything.

      Ok I'll look into this suggestion. Thanks for watching

    great craftmanship but the easy solution to your accidental swith operation is to use a 3 way centre stop switch made for this type of situation. It will flip to the middle position and cut the powere but needs a second flip to get it into reverse

      This is the type of switch I installed. However, if you do not wait until the motor come to a complete stop it will overload the speed controller board. So, even if you stop at the center off position and then switch into reverse while the motor is moving this will happen.

      @@MrFixit1 That sounds like an on-off-on type, the one I mean had a mechanical latch, move once and it latches in the off position then you have to release and flick again for it to connect to the other position

    Nicely done Mr. I like the boxes well made. How much power at low rpm's?

    • @MrFixit1
      @MrFixit1  Год назад +1

      Enough power to slip the belt if I stall the chuck

    Nice project. How did you connect the pulse generator to the motor controller?

    • @MrFixit1
      @MrFixit1  Год назад

      I used 4 of the I think 8 wires that come from the console to the control board. The Pulse + (BLUE) Pulse -(BLACK WHITE) and the ground (BLACK and 12v source (RED) wires.
