If I have a difficult task to do or I need to be more creative I always now walk away come back to the job in the morning when my mind is fresh. I've learnt over the years that this works well for me. Once you start working in a panic or a 'must get it done' mindset, that's when it all goes wrong. Lovely dress Lucy.
Just beautiful Lucy…I love it 👏 ….thanks so much for sharing your issue re back seam alteration, makes me feel better to know even experienced sewers have these hiccups. Can’t wait to see the next one 💕🧵
The dress is beautiful. I have also learned over the years to just go ahead and take it out and do it right. I have also come to the conclusion that it is way more productive to set it down and come back later than to rip it into the tiniest little shreds I can manage.😄
Gorgeous dress! That fabric looks perfect. I didn't notice the waistband was narrower until you pointed it out. When I am almost done with a project, I push myself to finish it and that's when I make mistakes. I've finally learned that's when I need to put it away and come back to it the next day.
Hi Lucy, What a beautiful dress, you look absolutely stunning in it! I find it really helpful to see what people have made from patterns because, as a beginner sewist, I sometimes find it hard to visualise alternative colourways/details to the pattern picture. For example, I think it would have been overkill to add lace to your lovely Fabric Godmother fabric for this dress. Thank you for sharing! Kind regards, Jill x
Your dress looks lovely Lucy! Thank you for sharing your mistakes. It helps to show that we are able to do work- arounds and come out with something that looks good. The walk away and come back tomorrow is good idea because you come back with ideas on how to fix your garment 💡 ( even if it's undo).🙈
Totally agree, I often find the answers when I leave it and think about something else and like you say the answer is often just unpick it and redo it Lucy 🤣
It's a pleasure, i think it is so much better to share what goes wrong too in order to help people build their confidence and realise everybody makes mistakes in sewing.
Your dress is gorgeous. Could I ask you about a different make, the Roscoe. I loved your blouse but I’m making the dress. Did you size down as it’s a full dress or just go by your bust measurement? I’m always nervous will make the shoulders too tight. Many thanks. Ruth 😊
I made it the size suggested on the pattern, but I made the blouse and tucked it in. If you wanted to choose the right size on top for the dress, but then taper the side seams in to make the body of the dress less full you could always do that without fear of the shoulders being too small.
I have this pattern, but I haven't made it yet because I needed some fabric inspiration / suggestions. Thank you for this video! If you make this again, can we have a sew-along? 🙏
I like your dress in that bold print, Lucy. I might shy away from the pattern if I'd only seen the pretty-pretty print and lace trim on the envelope but your fabric choice is stunning.
I have this pattern and I would never have envisioned this beautiful dress you made. Maybe because of all the lace. I love it! Lucy you make me look at patterns completely different than what I see. Love that. Doesn't even look like the same pattern. Could you tell me where you put the stretch lining? Bodice only or all? Great price on black lining and the fabric. I don't think ive ever felt a viscose twill. 🤔

Thanks Elizabeth, oh I definitely do have hiccups, how many usually depends on how tired I am 🤣

Hahaha totally agree, sometimes you have to step away from the sewing lol!

Aaaah thank you so much, I'm really glad it is helpful to you and you like it without the lace
Love the dress! And the bold colors are perfect for that style! Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you so much, yes I was really pleased with the end result.

I love the heavier viscose twill fabrics used by manufacturers. They move beautifully and look expensive.
Beautiful dress! I have to step away sometimes when it gets a little difficult and then when I come back it all goes well!
Beautiful!
Thank you so much

Enjoyed this and liked the patterns and the fabrics.

Can you tell me the pattern details of the red dress in the video please?
👍
