For discussion, what would I add to my list. Patchouli is easy. Nicolai's Patchouli Intense. Alternatively, Chanel's Coromandel. For mint, the first that comes to mind is Acqua di Parma's now discontinued Colonia Club. Vanilla is a little harder since I don't have any vanilla dominant fragrances. Floris' Bergamotto di Positano has a nice vanilla that comes out in the dry down that is mixed with a very nice spiciness that is there. Eight and Bob also has a nice vanilla that comes out in the dry down. Again, I wouldn't say that it is really a vanilla fragrance. As for amber, we could add another Jeroboam to the list (Ambra), or there's Chanel's Le Lion. For incense, maybe Guerlain's Encense Mythique.
Those are some really lovely choices. Patchouli Intense is a nice fragrance that has been in my shopping cart for some time now. I really need to pull the trigger on that one. I have never tried the Eight & Bob vanilla fragrance that you mentioned. Do you know the name of it by chance? Thanks a bunch for sharing your list.
@@CurtisNose The Eight & Bob I mentioned is just Eight & Bob. It is sometimes referred to as Eight & Bob Original. This is the fragrance with the JFK story. It's not a vanilla fragrance, but has a nice vanilla note that you get in the dry down. It's a very lovely and versatile fragrance.
A little side note (if I may add my two “scents” 🤓), while you’re exploring Nicolai Parfumeur, I’d highly recommend checking out Caravanserail Intense!! It’s an amazing spicy, slightly sweet coffee fragrance that deserves more attention in my humble opinion! Cardamom and cinnamon are the stars of the show (with the coffee of course), but there is an added touch of fruitiness coming from plum and raspberry! And surprisingly this one is pretty versatile as far as seasons go. It’s a solid performer, but it has an airiness that keeps it from being heavy or cloying, even on warmer days. I’m actually wearing it today (temps in the mid 70s), and it has been an absolute pleasure! It sometimes gets compared to Xerjoff Starlight, but I don’t find them to be that similar. Maybe the way the cardamom comes across, but aside from that they venture down two different paths.
Hi Michael! Thanks for mentioning about Caravanserail Intense. I have never sampled that one before, but your description has peeked my interest. I will try and score a sample of it. Thanks for sharing about it.
Oman luxury….. I had my eyes on Royal Incense, and Oud Aquilaria. Incense: check out Amouage Interlude Black Iris. Patchouli. Rosendo Mateu No.7 It’s stunning. Cheers
Fragrance is an emotion and expression of one's personal style, mood and personality. With that in mind, why can't we obtain a bit of critical thinking, develop our sense of self worth, personal style, and stop smelling like every other man? Fragrance as a personal memory of a time or of someone. It is also an instrument for seduction. But only when you wear it and it doesn't wear you.
Ambra Calabria is not one of the best niche fragrances for men. It is one of the best for everyone! It is actually one of my most worn fragrances! So good and versatile 😊😊😊
Hi! Thanks for that recommendation. I do not mind feminine leaning fragrances at all. I will try to score a sample of it. I appreciate you mentioning it.
It has alway surprised me when I go to fragrance store and I ask for a fragrance, the consultant immediately tells me: "these are popular for men". Why would someone want to smell like "every man"? I ask myself all the time. Is this how you guys all think? Am I weird to ask for an actual consultation and something different?
Hi Svyatun! I completely agree with you. Whenever I go fragrance shopping I personally do not like to be bothered by staff. I enjoy just going around freely to smell and find something that resonates with me. For fragrance enthusiasts, we are not looking to smell like any other guy. It is not weird at all to ask for a different consultation, but it might be even better to be left alone so that you can explore everything that you want by yourself.
