I worked on season 3 of penny dreadful... The American actor who played Dracula used a James Mason accent. We spent two days on one of the last scenes, when he was being himself I thought he just sounded like my brother in NY. But everytime he did his speech to us in his James Mason voice.... It sent shivers down my spine.... Even though by the end I knew his lines off by heart .. I still got the chills.

Even though Gary Cooper when he was young, was easily the most handsome of them all, there is always Clark Gable and Marlon Brando. Don't take my word though, I'm a straight man, you're a woman, you may judge better. Just take a look at pictures of young Gary Cooper, you won't believe how handsome he was!

Decidedly ahead of its time. Imaginative and well paced between the discussion of the 3 film ideas and producing them. Incredible staging and excellent filming. In context, the US was involved in the Korean War so not much has changed with K. Korea still being an issue. It’s nice to get away from external nuisances and immerse oneself in these tasty dramatic and comedic shorts.

This film is a vanity piece. I suppose I should watch it first.

I’m not finding it at all a vanity piece...at least this first short story. Quite enjoyable and a lesson about what can be made with almost no resources. You piqued my interest with the info on Pamela Mason’s talk show. Was it a radio talk show? Do you recall the station or name of the show?

    • @Larkinchance

Larkinchance your comment did raise my curiosity on their relationship....doesn't seem he was any more of a rat than she was since she had a reputation for having numerous affairs, seemed a socialite type in the end. Rich father. Still took James for a record breaking divorce settlement at the time. Ah, the lives of the rich and famous. Nevertheless, James remains one of my favorites. I suppose another actor could have pulled off his role in Lolita, but I can't picture who.
