When I was ignorant I thought that this was cosa nostra but,I was clearly wrong. Salsa is for everyone! It is a pleasure to see you teach everyone how to play this music. Thanks for all your great tutorials on Salsa montunos!

Very well explained. I've just found this 9 year old video and it's taught me exactly what was in my head. I hope people keep liking and subscribing and you get some reward for putting tutorials like this out for free for people. I can only imagine how long it takes to create this content. It's extremely appreciated. Respect
Thanks. I'm glad to hear my videos are helpful for you! If you want to step deeper into the art&science of Latin piano, you can support me by taking my Latin piano course at Udemy via digital4marketing.ezpage.com/creativepianoarts-latin-module1 You might also be interested in my "Let's Play A Salsa Piano"-playlist: ruclips.net/video/LzHzNZp8yQ0/видео.html
As with everyone else, I am very pleased with the results of this video. Woke up this morning and decided to learn this riddim, went on youtube, found this gem, three hours later I got the first progression down! Give Thanks piano52weeks !
I think that your teaching style is one of the best I have come across. You break it down in a very easy format....you teach very well. I am looking forward to more of your videos as I have now seen Salsa Piano Montuno 1, 2 and 3. Excellent instruction. :)
Muchas gracias, I don’t read music, but know just the basics of piano. You explained it very slow and easy and this was a great first lesson of salsa. I really appreciate it. My hands are very small, so I will practice it without the octave! Thank you very much.🙏
You are the best teacher I have ever met. I'm from Argentina and this rithm was impossible for me to learn so far I saw your tutorial. Furthermore it is so kind of you to take all that work of writing the notes by hand....That's what really helped me. God bless you...and a big hug from Argentina!!! (Sorry my english...)
Thank you for taking the time to do this. These videos are really well done and have inspired me to start practicing this sound; a desire that's been nagging me for a while now.
Hello and greetings from Aruba. I enjoy your montuno stuff as I am just starting to learn the piano. Many thanks. I used to play Latin rhythm in salsa bands in Europe, and I admire the dedication of various German musicians I knew on mastering this difficult and to them foreign type of music. Now I put my congas and bongos aside and try to move on to the piano. Thanks for your help :-)
On my previous comment below please forgive me for the stupid spelling mistake. Bare in mind this guy makes it look easy, I've had a go myself and the key is to take it SLOWLY, use a metronome ,( I'm using a garageband loop from the computer ). Playing dead slow is a grind but it is SO important to get it right, then I notch up the tempo a fraction and start again. Many thanks for posting this lesson.
Super simple and concise. Perfect for a total novice, como yo. I'm going to work on the very first step, C major. With luck, I'll be able to add in the pinky.
Thanks so much for this! I've been playing Brazilian samba & bossa nova rhythms for years but the exact timing of the salsa beat eluded me -- thanks for breaking it down like you did!!
Thank u so much for helping me to get closer to where I wanna get!! I love SALSA & all latin music that has the rythmn. U are a GREAT help in getting me clsoer to my goal
very god..azuquitaaarrrr...ese man tiene tumbaoo.que bien explicado....desde la capital de la salsa en medellin colombia...unos manes de la salsa brava te felicitan..
I don’t play piano, but I tried this and it was so logical (plus I’m a percussionist) that I think with some focused effort for a few months, I could use the piano to write some tunes, although a real piano player would have to perform it of course.
I am ready for your 3rd video Sir!!! I got the flow of tumbao vid 1 & 2 and am ready for ur next lesson(S) plz let me know when you do this Sir!!! May "God" in Heaven Bless you and thank you So-ooo Much!!! 10/26/2011 Your Fan always!!!
Thank you ! I just discovered for adding the octave in the chords, you have to change from 135 to 123 ! Not very common but now it's ( almost) feasable 🙂
Great when can we get more tutorial thanks, for those who always have something negative to say, first it looks like this instructor it's not just any wanna be instructor like we find a lot in you tube, it seems like he went to music school who knows his material, second how about we getting this classes for free when every other pro seems to always charge or selling his knowledge. There, so all I have to say to this instructor is thank you. I appreciate it. And keep it coming with those tutorial. And those negative ones, how about you responding a negative comment along with your video showing us how it should be, I guess you can't. That's what I thought.
Hi! I just wanted to let you know you did a fantastic job with teaching! It really helped me understand and finally a teach that shows it slow. I also wanted to ask you, where did you get that from in the background at 7:54? It sounds really good with the song!
If you search Salsa 135 bpm you can find tracks like this one ruclips.net/video/vYrngyGYpZY/видео.html. Btw I’m trying to learn the top piano pattern from Twice new song Alcohol Free, and this Montuno sounds pretty similar but not exactly, so if anyone knows what that pattern is called please let me know!
your lesson is awsome my friend!!! Thank you..thank..thank you!!! May "God" Bless you for teaching me!!! I am slowly pickin this lesson up bcause of you!!! Your great Sir and again...I apreciate what u r doing for me and many many more novice players like me who want to learn Salsa and how to play it and be knowledged in it!!! Thank you Sir.

Cool video! I gotta know that that chord at the end is though! Looks like a Gm in the right hand but you have some kind of Eb maj 7 goin on down low. Mind sharing what it is?
Major triad with minor 7. Not seeing that with what OP answered me. eb, a, d, d, d over a c. Wouldn't the first mode of a melodic minor be Dorian b2 or b9? How is that major-minor?
Hi teacher, Great video. I'm improving a ton by using your teachings. I just have a question regarding montuno, guajeo, tumbao, what is the difference between them, if any?

Great Job. You build good confidence by starting with the basics. Thanks for posting.
This type of music has always really interested me! I play drums, but I want to learn piano just for this.
I play piano but honestly afro cuban music is so great on drums. You don't have to switch instruments to explore it. Check out Horacio Hernandez! ;)
Thanks you explain concisely, clearly and cover enough to keep me entertained while practicing. Thanks for sharing Sending you love.
Super simple and concise. Perfect for a total novice, como yo. I'm going to work on the very first step, C major. With luck, I'll be able to add in the pinky.
You got one pattern, start practice now in all twelve keys. Thank you for your great tutorial!!!

en un comienso pense que no era lo que buscaba pero al final entendi como hai que comensar para llegar a tener ese estilo..graciass

i love you. thanks so much!
Cool video! I gotta know that that chord at the end is though! Looks like a Gm in the right hand but you have some kind of Eb maj 7 goin on down low. Mind sharing what it is?
Yes: It's a Cm6/9 (from left to right: eb - a - d - d - d); the bass is playing c. Not a very elegant voicing, but it works for this purpose ;-)
Major triad with minor 7. Not seeing that with what OP answered me. eb, a, d, d, d over a c. Wouldn't the first mode of a melodic minor be Dorian b2 or b9? How is that major-minor?
***** True, thanks! Didn't know m6/9 was interchangeable with the minor-major chord. Rock on.
Perfecto compadre, gracias por tu paciencia, chido por ti!!!
Yeah!:)
Very helpful, thanks!
Hi teacher,
Great video. I'm improving a ton by using your teachings.
