They are pulling back a 90s post punk sound, vocals kind of remind me of Dianogah, which I think were insprired by Mogwai. Maybe they are trying to remind us of a better time 25 years ago...

I'm not arguing at all with you because music is subjective and what you think is their best song is likely to be different from me and the same as others. I really enjoy this song a lot and it's a big (and bold) departure for them but for me I don't think it's their best. Editan su décimo disco, si no contamos sus bandas sonoras, evidentemente a estas alturas no van a cambiar su fórmula musical, ellos siguen recreando espacios sonoros que oscilan entre el sosiego y la furia, como en un tobogán sin fin. En esta ocasión es verdad que los escoceses han jugado con nuevos elementos, como modelos de sintetizador no empleados hasta ahora o algunas cajas de ritmo, pero ellos siguen su propia senda.

I'm 50 , I have seen mogwai LIVE several times, and if I'm being honest... there's not much better at delivering a live performance! Every fuckin time they out perform themselves from the last time.❤
A hymn of my 2021. The year I experienced a tremendous loss which changed my life forever for the worse, but it is precisely in this period when Mogwai showed me how it's important to have songs like this. After all these losses the memory is all you have left, and songs like this precisely guide us to our memory. I think "Cody" is about that. They stayed with me through all of these tough times.
I like how predominantly optimistic chords go on par with sad lyrics, and I think this contrast shows exactly what real optimism is. It is possible to cry, to dream and to laugh to this song equally.
The sense of despair in this song is uniquely comforting, partially maybe because it goes on par with acceptance
I listen to this on repeat, whilst I sit in my room and cry because of how horrible I’m made to feel because I’m autistic.
This song makes me feel better because it helps me to get the sadness out.

@@chrispearson8163 In addition to the fact that Mogwai had been releasing music quite some time before Silversun Pickups started to do so, I don't really hear Substitution in there. I'd sooner say that Silversun Pickups were influenced by Mogwai's sound, as was the case with a lot of other bands.
