Hey guys, so this video is so so so hard for me to upload. When I tell you that I have been racking my brain over this for the last 24 hours, I mean it. I Really REALLY like Jaclyn Hill and am so excited for her in her endeavors, but unfortunately I have a less than positive review to give these today.
I bought these myself on Launch day and also received PR. I bought all 20 of them and the total was $330
When i was unboxing and looking at each of the lipsticks, I noticed that what people were saying was true, that there were some issues with the outer appearance of the actual lipstick themselves. Upon further inspection, I noticed fibers, hairs, beads, and pitting in a bunch of the lipsticks. I decided to put them under a microscope to see what everything looked like up close, and I was SHOCKED. The colors are all stunning and wonderful, but unfortunately my review doesn't contain much in terms of the formula and colors, but more of the issues that people are experiencing and showing my personal lipsticks at length and detail. I also melt down one of my chunky lipsticks and break it apart to see if the chunks run all the way through.
I KNOW this is FAR too in depth, trust me, I don't ever want to be the person to go THIS in depth with LIPSTICKS. But because of the amount of complaints that I have seen, and confirming the quality (or lack there of) with my own personal lipsticks, I thought it would be good to just say "whatever, lets do this" and go SUPER nitty gritty into the formula of these.
I do NOT think that Jaclyn was aware of the quality of these before them going out, I think that these lipsticks are either OLD OR the lab has ZERO quality control and that they are contaminated (which is what I truly think happened) I really feel like the lab did Jaclyn dirty. I think they released less than poor quality products and now she and her brands reputation are paying the price.

Exactly. If Maybelline released lipsticks to stores looking like this all the youtubers would be all over that issue! This is their job: reviewing products.

Naomi Pena they cut the middle man. They have their own lab and factory. They are SEED. That’s the name of the company. They make Kylie’s products as well. Because they don’t have to pay for lab time , set up fees , plates etc because they own it they cut out a lot of cost others have to pay for.
Bingo!!!! But their lab/manufacturers is there own. The whole place from production, to shipping/fulfillment/customer service, is in one place Oxnard, CA. Southern California. It's their own. Not someone else's that they use. So that's why it's so easy for them to produce so much at an affordable price... My top 2 favorite brands, are colourpop and BH cosmetics. Also both are truly cruelty free... Jh is not. Which is something else she lied about.
I’ve seen a great report on makeup products. The bullet of the lipstick costs only a few cents to produce, and the packaging prices can go up to $7 for the nicer ones (fake leather textured ones like Guerlain’s).
And after conducting tests it was proven that the nicest lipstick were $2 from China because there were less heavy metals than in those from Italy.
Anyway, I can’t believe she’d make her fans pay $18 for a packaging that looks cheap af and poor quality

Moony Iliyassou At the end of the day Jaclyn is just a girl who started filming make up tutorials and was old enough to do it before most other people - she’s made money through brand affiliations obviously, however she simply doesn’t have the formal education or natural business acumen to pull off expanding her brand into other sectors. She just doesn’t get it, and doesn’t have the talent/experience to put together the right team or act as an operations manager. She just hands her name off to different manufacturers, crosses her fingers for the best, and it just doesn’t work out because that’s not how business nor life works.

It's wild rewatching this in February of 2023 now that we know the truth behind it all finally. The lipsticks weren't old, they had been produced so wildly fast, there was no way to do any quality control; this was not JH's brand, it was Morphe's and she took the credit; and the hairs were, in fact, animal hairs and that was a known problem with that lab.

thats literally bacteria and fungus... like the bacteria put in swiss cheese to make it have holes. and the hair isnt hair its another type of fungus. those lipsticks werent stored properly.

The decaf shade, the most harry shade, it's definitely mold. When you put it under the microscope, you could see a greyish green tint/hue right where the hairs were.
