But you never claim that the connection was actually there. So, thanks for your comment because know I want to take a second look at that Lebanese belly dancing and entertain your idea. On a lighter note, it would be great to one day have a fun gathering of Lebanese belly dancers and Rapa Nuis where they challenge each other to the dance floor. What do you think?
Hello PhoenicianGoddes By looking at the video, one could see what you are saying about the similarities between Lebanese and Rapa Nui dancing. But I would be more inclined to say that the similaries are coinsidential. Guille87 is on target as to the account of where the Rapa Nui came from. But you know, Hips are for moving and the fact that there is a similarity between them does not necessarily make the connection between Polynesians and Phoenicians.
Having said that, none of us were here back in those days when they began to dance in such manner. So....who knows? Maybe the Phoenicians made it that far in their journeis. But, according to all the archeological and anthropological evidence that we have, the connection is not there. On the other hand, there are those that have tried to make the connection between Phoenicians and the native people of the Americas. Specially Mexico. Again, did that actually happen? We don't know.
At a personal level, regardless of all the evidence out there, I think humans have been very movile for must of their history. There so many things we don't know about our ancestors and where they have been. With a bit of caution I entertaing your idea, but only within the realm of my personal views. By the way, I don't think you are a fool for making that connection. Reading your posting, you are only stating as to the similarities and posibilities.
