  • This is my second video on the Flat Master 150 and if you haven’t seen the first I do recommend that you watch that first. I decided to revisit the subject due to comments and requests that I got from the first, mainly regarding mounting the panel inside the observatory and using dynamic brightness in the N.I.N.A Flat Wizard. In this video I will show you how to mount the panel to the wall in the observatory and point to it with the observatory park position of the mount and then use dynamic brightness in the Flat Wizard to automate the flats letting the Flat Master 150 adjust the brightness for each of my 7 filters.

Just finished watching all of your observatory building videos. You did a fantastic job! 😀

Wow, That was a super quick implementation! Great stuff! Keep up the good work!

Goood tutorial Martin. I still place a folded white t-shirt over the lens dew shield before I place my art tracing LED board on the top. I think I need to lower the light level as my flats are exposing at around 0.25 of a second, but, even at that, I am getting some clean images after applying the calibrated flats and dark flats to the stacking routine. I take only 20 calibration frames for each type. Again, it seems to work. I need a bigger storage drive as those calibration frames add up. I always take new flats for each session if there has been any kind of change to the light train.

It's very handy to be able to control the panel and the brightness from inside, but as you say, all the frames take up space. I have everything saved, but might start deleting the calibration frames when the master flats have been created.

Did you try to make master flats in Sharpcap? It will do everything for you and give master flat for each filter. These files will be ready to use for calibration of light frames and you don’t need to go through zillions steps, as you do in Pixinsight.

I haven't tried Sharpcap for that, might give that a try. I really like the steps in PixInsight :)

@@frosthastrophotography Making master flats or darks take very long in Pixinsight. It just drive me mad.
By the way, I like that Pegasus gizmo. I will get it.

@@anata5127 You can reuse darks and even dark flats for some time.
