Keith Haring in Milan painting live on Italian TV show 29-may-1984

Keith Haring was a guest in a live TV show Mister Fantasy in 1984. During the telecast Keith drew a work live, and It was honored as graffiti street artist from Italian Rai TV.
The broadcast was transmitted live from the disco-club Rolling Stone in Milan, May 29, 1984.
I was there, and at the end of the show I met Keith.
He was sitting alone on the floor, doing drawings on a block.
I spoke with him, I take some photos too, and Keith make me a draw on the sheets of paper I was holding in my hand.
I will never forget, Keith you will always be alive in my soul.

Te lo spiego io. Mister Fantasy è stato uno dei rari approcci di cultura musicale commerciale, all'interno di uno dei contesti più fossili delle TV di Stato del mondo, quale è la RAI Radio Televisione Italiana. La tv non è solo mezzo di controllo delle masse, eccessivamente proiettata all'attività spartitoria delle ideologie, esclusivamente cattolica, una tv di flusso, ma anche strumento di divulgazione del mainstream internazionale musicale anni '80. Così, dal 1981 al 1984, l'idea di proporre la videoarte e i videoclip sembrava la strada per svecchiare la programmazione dell'Italia. Poco dopo nacquero VideoMusic, MTV, Music Box, VH1, Super Channel, TMF, M6, VIVA, Magic TV, etc. che avviarono l'inizio delle tv tematiche. Mister Fantasy fu un programma tuttosommato di nicchia, che entrava nelle case degli italiani, meno legati all'atavica tradizione culturale da custodire e preservare. Visto da cultori e da giovani spettatori che potevano tentare di liberarsi da quel passato ingombrante, aprendosi all'attualità. Carlo Massarini (il conduttore che dà la parola a Haring), direttore di un giornale musicale, ha vissuto fuori dall'Italia (non ha conosciuto il '68 italiano), per anni legato alla scena radiofonica giovanile, quando Boncompagni e Arbore erano l'unica alternativa possibile, a parte l'ascolto delle radio pirata e delle emittenti estere.
