This video reviews content from the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game formerly known as Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game and The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game. I just realised I didn't give you likes for the previous episodes of Pelennor Fields battles and unboxing so I went to your videos and liked every one about LotR SBG cause you deserve all of them :) I love your videos, keep up the good work! We want more Lord of The Rings SBG :D Cause it's awesome and since my hometown is small I didn't have a friend who was interested in playing board games so all I did was collect and paint those figures :( Watching your videos is like watching my childhood dream come to real life

Great batrep, looking forward to some Harad action hopefully! One thing I'd like to see is an army summary at the beginning of each battle report, it's always great to see other people's painted models up close.

Excellent battle report mate, I enjoyed it so much I purchased the game. As a Wargamer of thirty plus years I'm not really sure how LotR SBG had slipped under my radar.

Very entertaining video! After watching numerous videos using this new boxed set, I still can't tell if the two armies are completely unbalanced in favour of Rohan, or if all Mordor players just roll lower.. Well done though!
bob smith thanks dude! I'm not sure it's perfectly balanced, it's probably a bit easier for beginners with Rohan, the scenario special rules make it very easy on them. But the witch king is hectic when used properly.

We got this wrong in our games too! We put the army of the dead on the opposite side to the Witch King! Proves we were all too eager to play we forgot to read the rules hahaha!!

What an amazing campaign, really loved all the scenarios, Orry was really unlucky and the army of the dead rohirrim combo was brutal
Great mat. Where did you get that grass? The scenario is flawed though I think. It's silly that the Orcs need to move out and charge the cavalry?! It should be setup so that the Rhohirim need to get clear an objective behind the orcs in a given time. This wold help signify the grand charge and clearance of Pelennor fields before the Orcs overwhelm Gondor.
Thanks dude, it's just a Heki Grass Mat that I've done a bit or work too layering with some more colours :D Yeah it's just a beginner scenario, not the best, but stay tuned for part five coming out in a month or two where we use 3500pts a side and play the Pelennor Fields on my hectic new 8x6 board :D
You are quite right: The concept for the scenario is for Theoden to be in the middle and then Rohan hits the Orcs with a mighty charge.
What we're watching are two seasoned professionals of the game who know how quickly the game turns on a die roll.
It's a bit weird to see the army of the dead attack without Harad in there to support Mordor. Even without the unfavorable dice it seemed really hard for Mordor against these warriors of the dead!
Yeah it was a bit of a tough draw for them haha!

Have a question though, what do you think about the rules regarding how cavalry charge? I just don't get the feeling of an awesome 100km/h furious cavalry charge smashing into the orcs with 4 str 3 hits often resulting in no dead orcs (cause no big 6) or riders backing away.... just doesn't really feel natural imo, but it's the rules I find odd.
Clearly this video showed that it was the army of the dead that cut through the orcs like butter

That's correct my dude! Unless you're automatically knocked prone by a charge from monstrous cavalry :)

Soon! We're hoping to film in February after Arda Unleashed, the next couple of videos on finishing the board will be out this week and next, she's almost done!
So because of the rules where you have to move (when losing a fight) directly back and only one model may move out of he way, does that make Isengard pike walls (with 2 pikes supporting one Uruk) pointless now?
Not completely, you can have the back pikeman off to the side to form an L shape, but it does limit marching maneuvers.
What Might, Will and Fate should the Witch King have in this scenario? Is it the base M0, W10, F0?

For the troll and the witch king you mentioned courage instead if strength when rolling to wound. Why is that?

feels strange that your undead need to make a courage test to charge a troll (don't they cause terror too?)

well, i just checked my "war of the ring" it's the same... good thing troll have a high command.

played it once, it's somehow popular in some clubs among historical players as a fast easy rule. I don't see real movement or tactics in the pellenor fields series, your battle companies seem to be more interesting . war of the ring felt more like warhammer, but with limited magic and less special rules (that break the game in warhammer). On the other hand u can't play competitively since some troops are over priced (cavalry for example is extremely pricey) and monsters in big numbers can be overpowered. Good system to play friendly scenarios with lots of models. regarding the movement trays, i had to make my owns out of wood, since GW makes them very expensive. i don't know if i"ll play this system or the kings of war system when my armies will be complete. For truly huge battles, the KOW system seems much better.
when i say "better" just understand that it plays faster and without having to know 100 pages of rules.

Hopefully by the end of October, have to finish the board first haha :D I've finished part one, and part two should be done within the week :D Working 70hour weeks at work at the moment which is slowing me down haha. However money must be made :(

Nah definitely just your normal shoot value man. If you move of gets a +1 penalty, so Riders of Rohan would shoot on a 5+ if they have moved.
