I watched this video last night and used the online software on Astroseek to determine my zodiacal releasing periods. I am totally new to this, so I’m probably doing something wrong, but as a test I looked at certain years that had major events to see if the ruling sign matched the event, and they did. Most notably, ALL of my serious romantic relationships started close to when my chart went into Libra and the relationships all lasted at least through the duration of Libra. What’s depressing is that I’m not currently in a relationship and my chart doesn’t go into Libra again for 10 years. 😭 Unless I’m supposed to be using the part of Eros. Anyway, interesting new (for me) tool. I love and appreciate your podcast and teachings. Looking forward to reading your book. 🙌🏼
You need to check the Solar Arc Directions because they trigger fated events and in every Solar Return chart you can see what's ahead from birthday to birthday. Also combine all that with Age Profections. Astrologers never use only one technique to predict.
Never use astrology like a glorified slot machine (you will only be severely disappointed trust me) use it more like a musical composition. We are here to Express ourselves as well as Experience what life has to hold for us. But too often we forget that life doesn’t happen to us, but THROUGH u even though the bulk of the functions of fate are very much UNCONSCIOUS to most of us. All astrology does is afford for our puny egos to see what those functions are.

Churchill's peak period started from 1937 and of course the early part of the 1930s though considered the wilderness years for him were spent understanding Hitler through the lens of history & Louis XIV. And Rob Hand's peak period coincided with his foray into traditional astrology, the translations, the discovery of Sect, his work with the 2 other Roberts. It's a brilliant tool. And I'm grateful to Chris Brennan for introducing me to it.
Personally I've struggled since learning Hellenistic astrology since there is such a fated/deterministic quality to its predictive techniques. Could you please do an episode on traditional philosophic views in astrology on fate and determinism?? I'd love to know your thoughts or other Hellenistic astrologers' thoughts.
I think that it is important as astrologers to try to formulate our philosophical views based on what the astrology seems to imply or be telling us, rather than coming to the techniques with our views already fully formulated and then attempt to view the techniques through that lens. When you do this I think it allows you to let go of the need for things to not be fated or deterministic in any way, and instead to start to work more within the context of what the astrology itself seems to say. There is something freeing about that in general, and zodiacal releasing was really the catalyst for that change in my philosophy when I first learned it back in 2005. I guess that part of what I'm saying here is that learning how to be ok with some degree of fatedness is inherent within the techniques of Hellenistic astrology, and it is part of the process of learning them.

Hi Alyssa, I have a different perspective. I don't believe in fate as determined outcomes but rather as currents of energy. We have many fates, depending on how we work with the currents. As a witch, I believe that the strings of fate can be manipulated to create the lives we want. Life is sacred. It cannot be purely fated, otherwise it is not sovereign and therefore not sacred. We are part of the cosmic whole, the microcosm in the macrocosm. This system is divine, therefore we are divine. When we speak our will out loud, those vibrations interact with the fabric of reality on the astral and infernal planes. There are some who believe the planets are the sources of those currents and of every deific mask.
A book on the mystic Shelly Trimmer said he held the view that there are two things that the astrology chart will not tell you about someone, how deeply one person feels love towards another and how progressed they are on the spiritual path. That is to suggest that astrology is about the wheel of creation, not the forces beyond that.
Interesting lesson. Seems as though both parts move into a new sign the same time for me - when I turn 43 in several years. I had an instinct to check the transits and progressions for the same year and what do you know - my Progressed Sun conjoins my natal north node at the same time as my two parts change signs (among other things). It’s these interesting to see how the timing of significant life changes are usually shown using multiple tools.

Hi Chris, These are some points I have. How accurate can techniques be, that are based on the Lot of Fortune and the Lot of Spirit, which are calculated from the ascendant ? There were no accurate time keeping devices two thousand years ago. Also, there is the complex issue of translation. I heard an interview with a translator of the Nag Hammadi library, and he was extremely cautious admitting there are difficulties when it comes down to translating ancient texts. Just some general points I wonder about. Thanks. Liz

In a calculator I have used, there is an option of using the "valens adjustment" do you use this? it completely changes my calculations, obviously. Thanks.

The concept of Lots were originally developed within a whole sign framework in order to assign additional topics to signs, and they probably still work the best within that context of that framework today.

Beginner astrologers should do my full Hellenistic astrology course, which builds up to zodiacal releasing and then eventually introduces it at the end. More advanced astrologers may be able to learn ZR on its own, although it takes for granted other Hellenistic concepts like Lots and sect.

2-Hour videos are not meant for watching. They are meant for playing on your cell phone while walking. With RUclips Premium, it keeps playing, even when you turn of the screen to drop it in your pocket. You walk around, run errands, buy groceries. Then you come home, turn it off and get working on something. Next time you go out, you tap 'Play" on the same video and it picks up at the same place you left off. Like any podcast. Different content for different purposes. For example, it is very irritating to put on a video with a topic you love and start a walk and the video is over in 3 minutes. You pull your phone out, select another video and that one is over in 2 minutes. Very irritating. So...some for laptop, some for phone.

Yes, Delphic Oracle is the main program that I use to calculate zodiacal releasing, although I use Solar Fire for most other basic chart work.
