    Hi! Thanks for checking out my mining rig build video. For anyone who comes across this video in the future and is considering this case, I've scanned a copy of the manual and posted it here:

    As an update to my previous comments, I wanted to add that after installing NetHash Miner on this rig and running it for a few days we noticed a pretty consistent 100% CPU utilization with the original dual core Pentium chip. Windows was frequently unresponsive and we had difficulty accessing it through our remote connection.
    I replaced the original Pentium G640 @2.80GHz chip with an i7-3770 @ 3.4GHz (4C/8T). It was a bit tricky to install because of all the brackets/screws and had to slide the baseplate from the original CPU mount out from under the motherboard, but once installed the machine detected the new processor and powered right up. I also set up a 64GB page file on the new (larger) hard drive we installed. Still have more testing do do but so far it is a big improvement!

    Thanks for such a great video. I learned a lot from the video. I literally just ordered the same mining rig off Amazon 5 minutes after watching your video. I hope to post a video about the unboxing and setup soon. We will see how it goes. I am wondering if the mining rig will run the Cudo Operating System? My thoughts are that if it can run Windows, it can run Cudo Operating System which is a 'Lite" form of Linux. I will post a video to see if setting up Cudo Operating System on it actually works and if Installation of it is as easy as the Cudo website says. Thanks Mike.

      Hi! Thanks for the comment. Yes, it's a pretty good value case for the price, once you get all the screws and wires installed correctly (LOL). Personally I upgraded the ram to 8GB, the storage to 256GB, and replaced the Pentium processor with an i7-3770 (pics of the processor upgrade in the video comments). Once I did all that it's working well for us.
      I'm not familiar with Cudo OS but if it's able to run on those hardware specs it should be fine. We are running Windows 10 because it needs to fit in with our office environment and be compatible with our office security software. If it weren't in our office we might consider an alternate operating system like NiceHash OS. Good luck with Cudo, let me know how it goes!

Mine is missing too, but the only cords I have seem to be power cords for the GPU. Hi! Thanks for the comment. These cases have some assembly issues for sure. For the 8th cord I just plugged in one of the longest extras coming off the PSU. There are more than enough, even if you run eight video cards in the rig.
      For booting off USB, are you using the Microsoft tool (off the MS website) to create a bootable installation drive? Brand shouldn't matter, the tool will take care of formatting it correctly so that it can be read by just about anything. Just insert it, power machine on, and press DEL key on keyboard to enter BIOS and change the boot order to USB as #1.

      @CompTechMike I suppose there's a good argument to be made there... I myself only know the basics of GPU Mining and never practiced it, I would really love tho, more for a hobby then anything since GPU mining is practically dead. When I got into crypto it was a much easier time due to ASIC's being widely available and basically a plug & play operation.
      If only GPU Rigs wasn't so darn expensive to build; even with prices nearly cut in half on hardware GPU's are so high it would make it a VERY EXPENSIVE hobby that im not sure I would even end up liking

      Have you added your video cards yet (could be a power problem if your cards are drawing too much)?
      I would start by checking Windows Event Viewer logs and resource monitor logs for any significant issues. Also 4GB is not enough, on our system we're using 8GB real ram + 72GB of virtual mem for Nethash Miner. Good thing we upgraded the storage over what it comes with stock, lol. 😉

    • @CompTechMike
      @CompTechMike 2 года назад +1

      @@thiagotrevisan Hi! Thanks for the comment. I'd just go back and revisit some of the same suggestions/ideas.
      - When you looked at Windows Event Viewer and Resource Monitor, what exactly did you see? Windows is usually pretty good about logging causes of a crash. Did you get any specific error codes? Are you seeing any spikes in processor or memory usage?
      - Are you running on 110v or 220v? I believe the power supply supports both, and is "switching". It is capable of providing 2000W on a higher capacity circuit (as opposed to 1600W on a 110 plug). Maybe try running it on a higher capacity circuit (if possible) to give it a little more room to breathe, power-wise.
      - The power supply is definitely removable (I removed mine when replacing the processor), but it is not any size of standard form-factor that I'm aware of. I don't see any make or model numbers on the power supply itself so it may be challenging to find a direct-fit replacement. However if you're open to running the power supply outside the chassis I'd imagine you'd have a lot more options. I believe that's why there's the slot on the left side with access to the second bank of power connectors.
      - What exact version of Windows did you install? I recommend using the Microsoft media installation tool to install a fresh copy of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Note that a 32-bit version can't support more than 4GB. Also recommend making sure it is properly licensed.
      - What mining software are you using? Do you get any logs from that software? We're using NiceHash Miner here.
      - If you're running it fully loaded (8 GPU's) try moving it down to 4. Any difference in the issue then?
      - Have you used any tools like HWMonitor to check the thermals of the system, to verify it's not overheating?
      Really it's just a matter of "trial & error" and reviewing logs to identify the source of the crash. Good luck!

    Really no reason for the upgrades. Instead of using Windows for a dedicated mining rig, most miners use HiveOS or similar. It's a dedicated mining OS needing much less resources than Windows. This is why the server comes with 4GB of RAM and only a 128GB HDD. Using HiveOS, these should be just fine and no need to upgrade. And using "Crypto" instead of "Bitcoin" in the title would be more accurate. But we understand you are a hardware guy and don't know much about mining yet. Great video!

    • @CompTechMike
      @CompTechMike 2 года назад +2

      Thanks! I read a little bit about HiveOS. Sounds like a more optimal solution. As a Windows system administrator I went with something I'm familiar with. This way we can run our standard Windows antivirus, patch management, and remote access tools. This was kind of a silly project for the boss's kid - build a crypto rig and then run it connected to the office domain (guess so they don't have to foot the power bill at home 🤷). A lot of those security requirements were because of compliance policies for domain-joined equipment. I must've done something right, because it is still running well and generating a bit of cash.
      But if I had it to do again, I would look into alternate OS's - and not run it on an office domain, lol. 🤷🤣
