why are people getting so pissed that people are calling this genre emo? this is definitely the epitome of the emo genre. emo fuckin rocks as a genre as a whole.
Because it's a subgenre of rock. Being Emo isn't really a part of music, it's a part of Emo, you can listen to this type of music and not be Emo. And viceversa.
"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE

I agree, bottling up is no good, and one cannot be positive all the time. I am sick of the people that say you must only be positive and anything else is abnormal. It happened to me more than once. Also, I haven't tried to end myself in years. Only once back ago. It scared me. Yet people think mere crying or disappointment in stuff going on in the world or your life is automatically suicidal. Yes suicide is a concern, but being unhappy itself shouldn't be attacked and almost a crime.

I cant' focus on anything and this dark and evil side of me is showing itself. I'm terrified to be honest. This bastard isn't me almost. He puts words in my mouth. This wonderful girl I've come to love has no fucking clue how much she matters to me. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with her, but I can't get over her. She wants to go to all these shitty beer parties but I get so worried about her and I beg her not to go. We've been having stupid little arguments and fights over nothing lately and it's been tearing me apart. I haven't been able to talk to her face-to-face for about a month now. She always avoids me and makes it feel like I'm interrupting her. "You know you do you kill me well, you like it too and I can tell" That's her fucking with my emotions by disturbing our communication and being hostile. I ended up cutting the other day to avoid the pain. I know it may seem like I'm trying to get attention but I just need people to hear what I have to say. I can always come back to this song for comfort. Thank you Hawthorne Heights.
hey, if you need to talk im here... i started cutting when i was 12 because i get so much anxiety. when i had tests i used to take vodka to school to keep me happy. nobody knows though...
just stay away from the urges brother they will take you into a place...growing up when add first hit the scene the early meds ucked our heads up as children ...the drugs only worsen the depression..not to fault our parents but they ried I don't think they realized the ywere feeding us pharmaceutical meth at the time. but hey if your on ps3 add me secftw is my username
escuse me? I'm a scene chick and I do not have depression, I'm going to college and they're are people ur describing that go to my college. Emo/scene, goths, punks, metalheads, hey! I know a lot of them. Please stop judging. I can judge preps and Jocks and say "mostly they're into sex and showing off" but that's wrong. I'm sorry if u feel like this style causing people to do bad things. But it ur going to say that, you should say that about everyone, no one's perfect. I once heard a story that a cheerleader committed suicide. Was she emo? no! she was a cheerleader and her bf broke up with her, she hung herself. Also to do with a boy who had a lot of friend and he also committed suicide and was found in his closet hanging. Why don't you look it up or better yet get to know us. A cutter is called a "cutter" and a suicidal is called "a suicidal" thank you

I haven't thought of this song in years, but it recently popped into my head when I realized that my girlfriend is from Ohio and that my hometown is called Hawthorne, I thought it was a funny coincidence.
It's funny that I use to listen to this song when I was 13, living in Ohio, and now I'm 20 living in New Jersey and this song relates. My heart is in Ohio...Born and raised there, moved when I was 16.
I remember when I used to listen to this song in elementary school every Friday night while binge watching an entire season of Family Guy with my cousin. Those were the days.

Thank you Hawthorne Heights.
hey, if you need to talk im here... i started cutting when i was 12 because i get so much anxiety. when i had tests i used to take vodka to school to keep me happy. nobody knows though...
sure i have a facebook account for gaming if you want to add me x Katie Wilk
just stay away from the urges brother they will take you into a place...growing up when add first hit the scene the early meds ucked our heads up as children ...the drugs only worsen the depression..not to fault our parents but they ried I don't think they realized the ywere feeding us pharmaceutical meth at the time. but hey if your on ps3 add me secftw is my username
Johnathon Williamson
not all of us do drugs
A cutter is called a "cutter" and a suicidal is called "a suicidal"
thank you
I’m 15 and this song is my favorite. I don’t understand why people don’t like it anymore or make fun of people for listening to Hawthorne Heights. Sad
im 32 this song hit back then it will always hit
never really listened to this band much when i was a kid but here we are and its stuck in my head somehow after all these years.
This song will forever be in my heart. Always.
It’s been 9 years is it still in your heart?
It’s been 9 years is it still in your heart?
It’s being 11 years is it still in your heart? I hope yeah
someone told me about this band a few days ago. this is the first song i’ve listened to by them and so far i’m loving it!!
havent heard this song in years... sooo good. takes me back to high school, every time.
Yes 💯💯💯 I feel so old now 😩😂😂
this is mine and my boyfriends song because he lives in Ohio and i live in Las Vegas so this song is perfect. i cant make it on my own cause my heart is in Ohio
Hope you two are still together.
This takes me back to when I was 15. I was so emo haha
This song was huge when it came out, still rocks! I live in Ohio, and alot of people's hearts are here! It is the heart of America after all.
Nothing better then listening to this during quarantine
Everyone is like "I LOVED THIS IS MIDDLE SCHOOL" and I just graduated middle school and I like it now... it's funny, cuz all the Emos nowadays suck
Most of them like the fashion but listen to pop and rap
@@insomniacbritgaming1632 You're on point, I've been noticing and telling people that for months. Btw most of 'em ain't emo, they're "eboys/egirls" There's OG emos out there you just gotta dig deep and they're mostly on IG and SpaceHey. I can barely find people to talk about genres like this with now. It sucks.
God damn. 32, I can still hear myself crying driving around in my neon 15 years ago
Dito but i didn't have a car back then I just partied and hung out with my friends 😂 I am 31
this was my MySpace song for a hot minute
Aly H mine as well lmao was just talking to a friend about that when I saw this song lol
I forgot all about this song. I love it 💞
It's been a long 10 yrs. Wow. How time flies...
I love that the latest comments are from at least 3 years ago I’m like is there no one here now listening to this some it’s amazing still ♥️🖤♥️🖤
This song brings back memories
having vietnam war flashbacks to my most embarrasing phase.
Anne Storms it's not a phase BITCH ASS CONFORMISTS
Were you embarassed then? If not, then just write it off as "I was a teenager" we all do things like that when we're young. :)
We were embarressed to have you too
Got that PTxD
🤣🤣🤣🤣
gawd such memories, this song takes me back in time, feeling sad out of nowhere now, thanks hawthorne heights :(
Im 45 yrs old now and remember when this came out. Still one of my favorite songs.
Going on 30 and this is still my jam!
Hell yeah 31 here
the good old days , walking around town at odd hours of the night just playing and singing this song. good times
Brings back SOOOO many memories!
10 years go by fast I remember getting this album for my 7th birthday and I still have it...
I haven't thought of this song in years, but it recently popped into my head when I realized that my girlfriend is from Ohio and that my hometown is called Hawthorne, I thought it was a funny coincidence.
ohio really is for lovers tho. my heart is in ohio :(
yes ma'am
Are you from Ohio?
no but it seems I am, I'm hopelessly always looking for love and some of the greatest relationships I've been in were with guys from Ohio.
Oh, well we are a different breed lol
why is that
God this is still good and Nikki fm! Love these guys!
It’s been a while and my mom listens to them still! And so do I and I remember listening to there music when I was 6 still feels like it never aged ❤️
It's funny that I use to listen to this song when I was 13, living in Ohio, and now I'm 20 living in New Jersey and this song relates. My heart is in Ohio...Born and raised there, moved when I was 16.
when i first heard this song i never thought id ever be relating to it....
This is my favorite track from all of 'em , I instantly felt in love with this song !
Those screams are beautiful U-U
Kids today are like “I’m so emo, I love Billie eillish” we used to literally listen to music about killing ourselves lmao
Every high schooler in Burbank today combined, doesn't have the amounts of rubber bracelets that my freshman year classmates in Jersey had in 06.
I remember when I used to listen to this song in elementary school every Friday night while binge watching an entire season of Family Guy with my cousin. Those were the days.
All of these songs bring back times that I went through my whole scene phase I think every teen goes through it although I still love the songs I've definitely changed even seeing pictures from back there bring back memories haha
Going to see them soon! Man this song brings back memories.
I am a proud emo for life. I've changed a lot since my high school years, but when this song comes on I am 16 and very chill.
Most emo song ever and I still unashamedly love it in 2021, also still living in Ohio
This is about as emo as that poser who dyed his hair because he wanted to be cool
2
The most emo song ever written is probably something by Pg.99
@@V2ULTRAKill hey, let people enjoy music,if someone thinks it's the most emo song, its their most emo song. amd nobody gives a fuck about posers, they move on
@@vampire_bitez facts dont care about your feelings
@@V2ULTRAKill I could legit say the same about your opinions, it's all opinions, what are you gonna do? Call me a snowflake now, just let people enjoy things
@@vampire_bitez except what is and isnt emo isnt an opinion
Is a clearly defined genre of punk
So yes, facts dont give a single fuck aboit your feelings that this definitely NOT emo song might be emo
Emocore, midwest emo, and screamo are the subgenres that encompass the emo genre, and this song doesnt fall under any of them.
Jimmy eat world and Cap'n'Jazz are what midwest emo sounds like, Rites of Spring, Moss Icon, and Thursday are what emocore sound like, and pg.99 is the signature sound of screamo
Hawthorne heights is too clean and produced to be punk, much less emo.
went to this concert couple weeks ago...best time ever
I used to listen to this when I was 13, im 24 now and still blast it
This fucking song man
All rise for the 2000s emo teen anthem!
Got to see these guys in concert with my brother. He took me to see them for my birthday. Thanks bro!
30 years old and still jamming 👌
in university and reminiscing of life before student loans
i miss middle school lmao. 2007 to be exact
2017 and i still love this song.
It was awesome to see them at Warped Tour. :) First time I actually heard them too. Love them now!
my heart is broken...
i know the feel..
So is mine
For me, this song reminds me of when I was strung out on Oxy's, the "You kill me well, you know you do" and "you never stop until my final breath is gone" that being the drugs, and the intro being about me screwing up an amazing relationship. Not that anyone on RUclips gives a shit, lol. I just wanted to state my interpretation of it from shit 3 years ago. Sorry for the pity party. ~_~
I agree with rockstar. I think that's great you're saying what you feel regardless of what people think. It's really therapeutic to do that. In fact, I'll do that right now,
oh wow haven't heard this in years.. definitely a throwback.
23 and still love this band since middle school 💙
Oh God..
Too many memories >_
My boyfriend and I have been wanting to move to Ohio for the past 2 years. And we saved up enough money, and we are going to be moving there! I found this song and showed it to him and he smiled. I love this song so much. On our way to Ohio I'm going to play this in the car.
Good luck ohio sucks lol
2019 and i still have band tees and all the cds.
im 30 years old and used to listen to all this music in high shool --- no music or band comes close to any of the music i used to listen to -- SILVERSTEIN, HAWTHORE HEIGHTS, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, ETC
