This maybe is the 4th or 5th time I see this new video and I lost count how many times have seen your channel, Love your work and the videos you make! Thanks you for sharing it!
Hey Alexander...nice to see a new video from you! That lock spring is very innovative. I really like the uncluttered design of this knife. Definitely "less is more." This knife is quite handsome. I would say it is the second best looking knife I have seen from you. The best looking knife from you is in my pocket every day!!😂 THANKS for this video! Stay well. Kraz
Hi Kraz! Yeah its been a while! I can't take credit, similar springs has been made a lot, hehe. yes, it is a much simpler design. I think I will add a bolster in the front next time, just to make it more sturdy. We'll see. Haha I am really glad you liked it! You too! thanks!
I wanted to comment about deep cutout in locking bar right behind the tooth being huge stress riser, prone to snap off under minor loads, but considering tempering to "spring" hardness (on the softer side), it's not a concern any more. Rather, now it be better to check possibility of extensive wear of locking bar due to substantial difference in hardness compared to the blade.
I do not think that will be a problem at all. All corners have a small radius, and its not made to split logs. And for the concern of the spring temper. You can say the same about any slip joint. It will maybe get some blade play after many years of use. If you have any suggestions on how to make a better lock-bar with integrated spring, I would love to hear it. Thanks!
I did save one, I just cant find it at the moment. Let me get back to you. Send me an email: inmyshed87@gmail.com so I can send it to you when I find it!
I'm working on a very similar lockback. My first folder actually. Identical clip point blade as yours. Literally identical. Plunge grind exactly the same too. Just need to with on the body now. My question is I still haven't drilled the pivot hole. Though i do have a design and i created and printed out to follow, on the template I just put the pivot hole in the center of the blade tang, height-wise. I've been holding back from drilling the pivot hole yet because I'm afraid it will somehow interfere with the body in some way preventing it from fully opening. How did you figure out where to drill the pivot hole to get the blade to fold out without interference?
Haha yeah we will run out of designs sooner then later. Erp, can you send me an email at inmyshed87@gmail.com? In order for me to explain I think i need to send you a drawing. hehe. As I understand it, the pivot hole needs to be dead center between where the spring touches in open position, and in closed position. If not, the back spring will have different levels in the handle depending on if it is locked or closed. Lets say its perfectly flush when open, and when u close it, it can stick over the liners or sink beneath them, depending on the error. I hope that made sense or someone can explain it better. Or just send me an email and i draw and explain it. hehe
I have a large hand and have no problems pushing it in. Would maybe become more comfortable to do with a bigger opening but I have no problems with it as is.
Mate, I'm only up to 9:54, it's nowhere near finished, and honest, I almost choked up, that brass and timber combination, untreated or finished but raw timber man, beautiful creation dude. 🫡

The lock release is kinda small..hard to get your thumb in to press the lock release...maybe make the opening a bit bigger

Super réalisation... Comment s'appelle la lime avec laquelle vous faites une grise sur la lame ?
