+Saad Elahi It is mandatory to recite attahiyath in tashahud. After reciting that in second rakat,if you're gonna continue to third,u don't need to recite salawat to the prophet Muhammad (saw). Only in the last tashahud, you should recite salawat and end the prayer. (Fath ul Bari Vol.6 407 and 408) Also after the salawat before the end salam,its better to recite this as dua. Because dua asked at that time has more chance of getting fulfilled by Allah Azwajjal. "Allahumma 'ínnee 'a'oothu bika min 'athaabil-qabri, wa 'aóothu bika min fitnatil-maseehid-dajjali, wa 'a'oothu bika min fitnatil-mahyaa walmamaati. Allahumma 'innee 'a'oothu bika minal-ma'thami walmaghrami" (Al Bukhari 1/202) (Muslim 1/412) I got these from "Hisnul Muslim" android app which claims to have all duas and recitations from authentic hadiths. yet to be verified ..Allah knows best. Na'am. You can. Only the salah and the Quran must be recited in Arabic as far as i know. Dua can be recited in any language because dua is how you ask Allah. Its what u ask Allah. Its the communication between you and Allah. Allah understands all language. If you wants evidences just ask yeah? Allahu a'lam
The scholars have said that if you know the duas in Arabic then you MUST recite them in Arabic but if you don't then it is permissible to make dua in any language. Nevertheless we should strive to learn Arabic and the Arabic duas of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
