Finally, an honest review that isn’t from an over analyzing tech person. I have the 12.9 and agree that it’s just too big of a monster to pull out every time you need to jot down notes or be productive. So I just ordered the iPad mini 6. Great video!
So glad you found it helpful, Richard! I totally glaze over when everyone starts with the “XYZ MRZ tech specs” 🫠 does anyone genuinely notice the differences?! lol. Enjoy your mini! They are fantastic and fully capable devices!
@@GinnyStLawrenceI honestly only ever had issues in relation to storage (not enough) but I’ve never a single time had an issue with a mobile apple device in relation to experience/process otherwise (not talkin abt shady os updates)
As a tech person, I have to say that this was the best device review I have ever seen (and I am serious). Love it. ❤ it’s not about having the most powerful device, but having a device that exactly fits your needs and use cases.
Wow, thank you for such a generous compliment! I really appreciate it. ❤️ i couldn’t agree more! It’s all about a device meeting your needs and improving your quality of life, if it does that, who cares if it’s top of line?
Hey Ginny, I also bought an iPad Mini solely based on how bad Chris Piascik made me want one after watching his video. I love this little thing so much. It's fast becoming my favorte device, too. Then, somehow, I've discovered your channel and couldn't be happier about that. I'm loving your videos and am really happy to follow you! Please keep up the great work!
Hey Chris! Aren’t they just the cutest and most practical little devices? 😍Thank you so much for stopping by! I’m so excited to be putting videos out here. I really appreciate your encouragement. Thank you for the kind words! 🙏 ❤️
Yesh! Thanks for the honest artist review - I mainly do all of my illustrations on a PC / wacom setup. When i'm on the go, i always have my sketchbook with me - and i love doing sketches while waiting at the doctor, waiting for the kids. But sometimes i really would love to actually do a finished illustration on the go, so i'm really dreaming about the ipad mini. But i'm trying to wait for the next apple event this september, to see if they upgrade the mini - and perhaps even make it compatible with the pencil pro. Thanks for the great vid!
Hey thanks so much for watching! I think you’d love the mini! There’s rumors of a new one coming in September! If so, that’d be hard to pass up! You can’t beat the size and power of these little devices, especially for illustration!
im always contemplating whether to buy it or not. the form factor is great, however i cant swallow to pay the price that it is asking. Plus, i also have the 12.9 m1 ipad pro, and i don’t like to buy a device that does the same thing but less. BUT. THAT. FORM. FACTOR. AGAIN. ghad. I wish there was an android tablet of that size that is as capable as the mini but less expensive. COME ON SAMSUNG DO SOMETHING
I agree! There are some lower end andorid brands with stylus support, Doogee T20 mini for example, the same form factor and is less than1/4 of the price, but you wont get the 6 or 7 years of support that you get from Apple, or (4 years from Samsung)
Many many years ago I had a tiny Samsung Android Tablet that I used as a nook. I’m pretty sure they discontinued them because they were catching fire 🫠. I fully support a mini device revolution. 😂
I have the Mini and I completely agree that it’s such a great device. I need to use it more imo but I always recommend it for people considering an iPad. Great video!!
This definitely sealed the deal for me now. I've been wondering if it was a bad idea to get the mini this year, but your video has helped resolve my dilemma on this. So thank you. ^^ [ goes out to buy one ]
Update* I’ve had it for 2 months now and it’s replaced my iPad Pro for art and it’s fun bring it everywhere with me. If you need to display reference for images you can use a iPhone with a stand or mirror it to a tv or a connect to external monitor.
Great review! I think that's the one i'll get as well. Could you animate properly on the mini though? Like, full length animations. Also, are the app interfaces too crammed on the ipad mini screen? That would be really helpful. Thank you!
Great questions. I do animations in Adobe Fresco and typically to add movement to my work, not full blown animation like a cartoon or something. So I can’t speak to that but it’s had no hang ups for what I’ve thrown at it so far. The apps don’t feel cramped to me. If you’re coming from a 12.9” pro, you’ll certainly notice the decreased screen real estate. Hope this helps you! Reach back out for any additional questions!
@@GinnyStLawrence Thank you! I'm torn between waiting for the new mini or get the refurbished pro 11 inch for animations. Would love to see a comparison video between the two (both illustration and animations)! Thank you!
This video just popped up for me. RUclips can read my mind. I also want a Mini to pair it with my Pro, but my Pro is an 11" so I am having a harder time justifying it to myself. I would use mine for note taking (Notability), Drawing/Animating (just casually) and coaching (soccer). Even the 11" feels too heavy to use single handed, but I feel like I am being wasteful. Would love to hear your take on having an 11" Pro + Mini. Oh, and I like your art style - I am still trying to find mine. Would love to watch a video on how you go about drawing on your Mini.
The 11” always felt like an in between to me personally, but it’s a great companion to the mini. It does feel boujee (sp?) to have two iPads, but if it works for you, go for it! Thanks! I’ll start working on a follow up video about how I use the mini for drawing and animating, so look out for that!
Never even considered this until a few days ago when I got a mini into my hands by accident. What an absolutely lovely size. The first thing I did was try out the pencil with procreate, and I don't even consider myself an artist. It just felt right. Was looking for other opinions, and found this video. Thank you. Have been using a 12.9 for a few years now, and now need to sort my confusing urges for a mini 😅
It’s a treat isn’t it? I wish Apple gave more love to the mini line up. Those of us that love them, LOOOOOOVE them. 😂 If you google “apple refurbished” and find Apple’s website amongst the results, sometimes you can find refurbished minis for several hundreds of dollars off retail! And kudos to you for diving into iPad art! ❤️
A refreshing review, all too often reviews push sales, even when it is not needed. I enjoy hearing a review that focuses on the positives of said device. FYI i still have a iPad mini 2nd gen which i use daily. I love small tech too...
Traded my surface book 2 and surface pen for my first iPad (iPad Pro 11”). The combination of procreate and the Apple Pencil 2 changed my life (as an artist). Now I use the iPad mini 6 as my main device. I even sold my MacBook Air 2020. I love the portability. As you mentioned, you can whip it out and start drawing anywhere. On the kitchen counter, in bed when my back gets sore, and, you know, on the desk. I love small things too and this thing can go with me anywhere without weighing me down
Completely agree about the iPad and Apple Pencil being life changing as an artist. It opened up SO many possibilities and immensely streamlined all of our workflows! Doesn’t it feel awesome to reduce devices down to a tiny yet fully capable device? Stoked for you!! 🙌
I'm like neck deep in the ecosystem (14" M3 Max, 15PM, AWU2, AirPods Pro, and ofc the Mini 6), and when I travel, I just take my phone and Mini 6 with me and I couldn't be happier. I can get most work done if need be with a folding keyboard, but when I'm not traveling, my sling bag can easily carry my iPad and phone. I went from an 11" Pro down to the mini and have zero regrets
@@GinnyStLawrence I got the ProtoArc XK01 from Amazon; brilliant little keyboard when folded up, and when folded out, it's full-sized with a numpad too!
I really enjoyed your review! I was considering getting an e-reader or iPad for reading but would love using it to start drawing more as well. I was on the fence on whether the iPad Mini would suffice but you've explained it well and your enthousiasm and personality is contagious and captivating. I love your humor! You've not only convinced me to buy the iPad Mini but also got yourself a new follower. :) Thanks!
Dawwww this is such a super sweet comment!! Thank you for your generous compliments, Lisa.!(Love your username, BTW). The mini is such a cool, compact, and capable device. I think you’re gonna love it!! 🥰
If you can, try to find a store that has a iPad Mini on display, then you can understand whether or not you’d like the form factor. I personally did this and I instantly fell in love with the size of it. Got my iPad Mini 6 in August last year and I couldn’t be happier with the Mini. As a college student it’s very nice to write notes down and a plus imo is I get to not carry a physical notebook at all.
Welcome!! And thanks so much. I’d recommend Fresco. I release a video (it’s long) that goes over all the tools in fresco. I’m looking to put out another video going more into making art in Fresco and Procreate.
This video pursuaded me! bought mine, refurbished, I had an ipad pro that was not being used at all despite my good intentions, I normally draw in my notebook so this is a perfect size for me!
Welcome to the club! You’re going to really enjoy this device. Lugging around the iPad Pro for travel and quick sketches never happened for me (despite my good intentions as well). The mini changed that for me. So nice to have a digital sketchbook, and be back to daily art making. Good luck and enjoy your mini!
So relatable. I have an 11” Pro, and a Mini 6 (iPads) and I use them differently too. My Mini is my planner, my e-reader, and what I use to browse Pinterest which causes eye strain on my phone. I reach for the Mini way more than any other Apple product I have. It’s so good and so cheap! If I could only have one thing, it’s the same scenario. With the exception of just a couple things I need a bigger screen for, I would pick the Mini. In another world, it could replace everything including my phone since mine is cellular.
I use exactly the same two devices - iPad mini and iPhone Mini 13 - to write books! Love them. Especially suing voice-to-text on the iPhone. I hope apple brings out an updated iPhone Mini but I doubt they will....
More creatives using mini tech! 🙌 I love to hear this! I swear, the mini line up has a cult like following. Us mini users are die hard! Haha. Apple really should take notice, and keep the mini line up. 🤞for future mini’s!
@@GinnyStLawrence I wear glasses too and for as long as I have, they always slide, so really, I just gave up hope finding the right pair that won’t because of think that’s glasses life. Makes them interesting and fun. The iPad thing really was relatable, I’m very close with my iPads and seeing that little text made me so happy since everyone here thinks I’m a crazy person 🤣 Keep up the good work!
@@LeahDykema 😂 you have a solid point. Easter eggs are always a thrill to find. I used to love discovering them in my jeep wrangler when I had one. Love that they hide them all over the car! I just subscribed to your channel. Cheers to growing together here! 🥂
Similar to your story, I’m a artist, photographer, and went from full Mac desktop set up, to MBP, to iPad Pro, and finally the mini 6, I do love it, great for travel,, Minimalist lifestyle, but I would love to see a mini pro option too.
Hey, I really enjoyed the B roll of your drawing, the NB iPad Mini Shot, and everything being in nicely matching colors. As a pretty tall guy, I consider the 11-inch iPad Pro and the 5th Gen iPad Air. I wonder what do you think. I am used to A5 Leuchtturm journals. I edit my stuff on M1 Max, and I am new to Procreate. Aw, you gained a new sub, btw. Awesome taste for Carhartt WIP.
Thank you so much! I love that you appreciate those little details and the carhartt hats. I have WAY too much of their stuff. An A5 is only sliiightly larger than the mini, but not by much. If links work here, check out this visual comparison of the two below. Hope it helps and thanks for being here! 🙏 Comparison of A5 to iPad Mini: comparevisually.com/en/compare-sizes/a4-sheet-vs-ipad-9-vs-ipad-mini-6-vs-a5-sheet-6eacbxws
@GinnyStLawrence Thanks for this thorough reply! I appreciate it. I'll likely go with the Air 5 and not wait for the Apple event. You definitely helped me. I'll also stay tuned for more content from you. Regards!
What app do you use for journaling? I've tried and failed to find one that works for me and keep going back to fountain pen and paper notebook. Thanks for the great video!! ❤
I’m using Goodnotes and loving it. I have several notebooks within the app and enjoy the ability to bounce from one to the next seamlessly. Stream of Consciousness aka my brain dump and daily journal, and my planner receive the most use at the moment. I use apple notes quite a bit to snag thoughts, ideas and dream projects, as they come to me, which is usually on the go. I’ve always loved how I can search within my notes app for keywords I know exist in a specific note that I’m looking for when trying to reference something I wrote days or months prior. (I abuse search features because I struggle with organization). This feature kept me from handwriting much of any note or journal to be honest. However, with Goodnotes, I can search my handwritten journal entries. 😳That feature alone keeps me using that app which is nice as I enjoy the process of handwriting my thoughts each morning. Good luck! Finding apps that stick can be tricky! And thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
At the risk of sounding like a dinosaur, I wish they had minis out when I was in college! Prime use case for such a versatile device. See if you can save some cash by buying one refurbished. Enjoy!
So helpful! I too have/love my iPhone 13 mini, and I chose an iPad Pro a few years ago rather than buy a MacBook but I have fibromyalgia, and I read ebooks in a variety of formats, so it’s always been at the back of my mind that something smaller and lighter would be handy at some point. This will work. ❤
Thanks for the generous comment ❤️ It’s a fantastic e reader! Check Amazon or Apple refurbished to save a couple hundred bucks if you do decide to grab one.
Love this video! As a long time iPad Mini user,I agree with everything you said! I still use my iPad Pro but LOVE my Mini. Props for the running glasses adjustment counter. 😂
Exactly the same that I did recently, and I love having both size options. It's so great to be able to work wherever I want without having to drag the large iPad with me, especially when there is not much space around me or note taking during a client meeting. It always felt weird to me to get out my large iPad in that situation, can't explain why.
I love the iPad mini too! I’m an artist, and chose the 11” iPad Pro over the 13” iPad Pro to replace my laptop. Mostly because The 13” iPad Pro is just too large to hold comfortably. I feel true tablets are meant to be held, and as my main device, the 11” iPad Pro is perfect. However, for when I really want to travel light, I always take my iPad mini as my digital sketchbook on the go. It’s so small it fits into my cargo pants pocket!
I am not an artist, but I similarly can't decide between the 12.9 Pro and the Mini, so Apple has me over a barrel owning both lol. I use my Mini way more than my Pro. It is great for reading books and using a controller attachment to play video games. I carry it with me all around the house to take notes or view recipes. It's great for scanning documents. Even though the Mini gets way more use, I can't let go of the Pro, because it does things the Mini can't. I use the Pro to edit videos and to sort my photos. I use it in our homeschool classroom to have full paper sized writing assignments for the kids. I use it to read full size magazines and scans of large books with pictures. For my phone I use the 6.1 Pro models. The 6.7 Pro models might let me get away with doing some stuff I do on the iPad Mini, but they are just to heavy and unwieldy to use as a main phone device. So here I am with 3 touch devices in my life. Maybe a folding iPad could fix that one day.
I can so relate. When I go into the Find My and see the list of “My Devices” I always curse Apple. Haha. But also, so much of my day to day involves all three devices - iPad Pro, Mini, and iPhone.. (plus more from their line up like the AirPods and Apple Watch 🫠). It is what it is at the point 🤷♀️The mini is my favorite by far.
The glasses adjustments 😂😂 Also, I love the honest review! Im not sure I’d use it for art like you do, but glad to know it’s worth its. (Also currently looking for a new laptop 🫠)
I think there’s rumors of a new mini coming out. Idk if it’s happening for sure. Oh man! That’s gonna be a hefty bill! The MacBook airs seem super legit these days. Lightweight and very capable!
@@GinnyStLawrence Agreed! We have an older MacBook Pro, but they’re getting priced out of my budget. I wouldn’t mind investing in a new microphone and possibly begin to do some talking head videos. Lots of thoughts swirling around for my channel, plus expenses lol
I enjoyed your short and sweet video. But I have a question. If a carpenter, mechanic or other trade worker has 2-5k worth of tools to complete their work what is the difference for an artist to have multiple iPads? Does a carpenter need 5 different types of saws/cutting tools? A good carpenter, probably not. But, does it make them better at their job, faster and more productive? Yes. For an Artist and content creator to have multiple computers, iPads, cameras etc it's no different. It's acquiring the tool set to accomplish the work.
Great point. Like anything, it’s never the tools, but what you do with them. I was gifted the mini and am making the absolute most of it. I replaced my laptop with my iPad Pro. That is now my “computer” to do any heavy lifting, video editing, adobe illustrator work, and anything the mini is incapable of doing with my tools of choice. My mini has become my dedicated daily e-reader, journal, and digital sketchbook. For me, this set up works great for my current workflow. Are two iPads necessary? Absolutely not. Does it increase the fun factor for me? Absolutely does. As long as you’re having fun with your craft, more power to ya. Thanks for the great comment!
Great idea! I posted a long video about Adobe fresco, but that’s more a demonstration of all the tools and features of Adobe Fresco. I’ll add all art apps to the list! Thanks 🙏
I love your video editing, didn't expect the "tech bro" part xD initially I wanted a bigger ipad like ipad pro or ipad air but in the end I get a steam deck instead, i know they're total different devices but i made a promise to myself that either im choosing getting a laptop (technically steam deck is a portable pc) or an ipad, i learned some parts here and there on how to navigate steam deck since they use linux and i was able to connect my wacom one display to it (just plug in and play, no need wacom program install) it's still portable-ish in some cases if im only drawing in the house or something i did try using my friend's ipad pro at their house to test it like around 30 mins ish sitting on the sofa drawing, and it is way too heavy for me, thanks to your video i think ill look out for the mini since i do want to do some sketching while im outside the house, but i think ill hold off first and see if they gonna announce ipad mini 7 anytime soon c: ipad minis are so adorable i think ill have fun decorating the cover/case if im going to have it in the future *my main drawing tools are desktop + wacom using clip studio paint
Haha! I’m glad you appreciated that part. I’ve never heard of the steam deck, looks interesting! I love having a small device that’s always ready to go for travel or couch doodling device. I’m curious to see what Apple brings with the mini 7!
I use a 7th generation iPad bought from the Apple refurb site in December 2021. For $279 ya can’t go wrong. Seriously looking at a refurb Mini 6. If Apple releases a Mini 7 then the Mini 6 refurb price drops. Watching for a 13 Mini to replace the iPhone 6 I’ve been using for the last 9 years. (definitely got my money’s worth!)
Refurbished is such a great way to go. Devices are always solid and prices are hard to beat! You may be looking for a 13 mini for a while… those suckers have a cult like following! 😂Def worth it if you can find one!
I have a similar story and have come to similar conclusions regarding my 12.9” Pro and mini 6. I love my mini so much!! It does feel kind of lame having two iPads 😂 But, I don’t do video editing so I might not replace the Pro. I’m using my mini 95% of the time as it is.
Yeah, I'm with you. I've got the latest M2 chip 11" iPad Pro, which has awesome power, but frankly, I don't need all that power! I'm not even an artist like you. I've been holding off on getting an iPad Mini as a replacement for my Kindle Paperwhite, which is quite frankly an incredibly compromised device, even for reading. Yeah, the battery lasts a long time, and the display can be read in sunlight, but those aren't enough to offset the really poor UI and touch screen responsiveness slowness and erraticness. The iPad Mini running the Kindle app is SO much better! I use the Kindle app on an old iPad Air 8.3" and it's great, but it gets heavy to hold, and the iPad Pro is even more awkward to hold. So, I *really* hope Apple upgrades the Mini specs this year: it hasn't been updated in over 900 days! And I hope they fix the "jelly role" scrolling problem, but I probably won't be bothered much by that anyway.
You make so many great points. I haven’t touched my kindle (which is ancient) since having the mini. I too am curious to see what Apple does with the mini lineup… fingers crossed!
@@GinnyStLawrence Yup. One thing I *don't* like about the Mini is the squared off edges. I wish it was more rounded so that it would be even more comfortable to hold when reading. But, sadly, Apple often seems to elevate style over function for no reason other than "Thinking Different" just for the sake of it!
¡Bienvenido a bordo! ¡Gracias, Diego! 🙏 Aprecio tu generosidad. (I used ChatGPT to translate that for me!) English: Welcome aboard! Thank you, Diego! 🙏 I appreciate your generosity.
I would love to have one for quick note-taking for school and working on my syllabus and calendar but it's just a bit too expensive for me. I'm looking for a used one and it's still expensive.
They are expensive. Google “Apple Refurbished” Apple’s refurbished website has them for sale for about $400, which is a heck of a savings and the peace of mind of an Apple guaranteed device. Good luck!
I also have a 12.9 inch and the mini and I love them both and use them both every day for different things (so I keep telling myself to justify) but in all seriousness I use the 12.9 for drawing and 3d sculpting and the mini for journal/notetaking, reading, gaming...leisurely fun stuff
I am so torn between a mini 6 and an air 5, I really liked your comparison to little things. I too like little things, and have the smallest version of my android phone that I could get haha I might be sold on the mini for it's sketch book form factor. A galaxy note 10 (standard size, still thought it was a huge phone) was my main digital tablet for a long while, so I'm thinking it's gonna be ok for me lol
Both are SUCH great devices you really can’t go wrong with either or. A quick visit to the Apple Store could be helpful if you’re really torn. I’m partial to the mini of course. Lol 😂
thanks for this vid.. Planning to buy an ipad air m2 11 inch ... But to expensive for me.. And Ipad mini 6 would be the best option ... I love minis to.. I have a mini sketch pad with mini palette .. So cutie
I have a 1 ST 11 inches iPad Pro , and I want to buy a mini , but there are many rumors that the mini 7 is coming , feels a bit struggle is it the right time to buy the mini 6
Hey! Hopefully you can answer your opinion if you have some time I have a great drawing tablet for my computer but for the next two years I'll be home mostly on weekends so I'm looking into getting an ipad for simple animations, I can get a second hand pro gen 5 with a pen for around the same price of a new mini 6 with a pen, the pro I feel like it'll be enormous to draw on compared with the mini but I can't feel but paying for the smaller thing the same amount is kinda of a waste? Have you tried animating with your mini? I know Apple likes minimal design so I don't think the screen will be too densed but I couldn't find any video of someone showing how it is
Great question! I animate in Adobe Fresco on both iPads. The condensed screen real estate on the mini is noticeable compared to the 12.9 when drawing, however it doesn’t hinder to the point of it being a waste of time or convince me to return it, etc. I’m happy to create a quick comparison video here on YT or I can email it to you directly probably much faster. Shoot me an email if you’d like me to send that over. I’m happy to show you how it looks on both iPads (vertical and horizontal screen positions). Cheers!
i honestly prefer Oppo find n2 over ipad mini , similar form factor and the software for foldables is getting better. Too bad it doesn't have a stylus support and it's not available here in India. If iPad mini would make calls like a phone though... i might consider buying it.
As an artist, the iPad Mini might just be the perfect sketchbook that fits in your pocket! With the new features and portability, it’s like carrying a mini studio wherever you go. But... will it finally cure my never-ending search for the 'perfect' tablet?
The fact that the glasses adjustment was numbered is hilarious!😂 ( I wear glasses and do this a lot too). I'm tech challenged and have never created art in a digital format. I know I have a huge learning curve, but this video has been very helpful - thanks
Haha, I’m glad you appreciated that! 🤓 I’ve got a video (it’s long) about Adobe Fresco you can check out and see if that’s a platform you’d be interested in making art in. Should be posting some follow up videos over the coming weeks on all things making art on the iPad! Cheers!
3:25 It's me right now... I have an Ipad Pro 11" but at work now, that I needed to have a notebook for jotting down notes, meeting details, deadlines and such, made me think of having an iPad Mini due to it's size and what desire for using digital notes instead of reaching out to paper. I'm still so confused coz I heard a new ipad mini is coming out soon, I guess I need to wait. 😕😵💫
That’s exciting! They are rumored to have an update to the mini this year… possibly September. If you can wait, it might be worth it. If not, snag the mini and upgrade down the road. I journal, note take and to do list in mine daily. Couldn’t be productive without it!
Haha that’s awesome. It’s a feature I’ve used a time or twelve 😂 yes! It’s not the super tiny field notes sized one but also not the printer paper sized one. I’m not sure if those dimensions are helpful?
i wish ipad pro rear-camera is not highend or no camera at all- so maybe itll be less-expensive? and the refreshrate is just BS not enough justification for overpricing i think ram and storage is more important
I’m not much of an in between type of person. I typically go to one extreme or the other. 😂The 11 inch feels misplaced to me personally, but I’m sure it can be the perfect size for many!

I have the Mini and I completely agree that it’s such a great device. I need to use it more imo but I always recommend it for people considering an iPad. Great video!!
The mini and the Apple Pencil is a hard to beat combo! Glad you enjoyed it!
The portability is amazing. And you never feel helpless in any situation. This little things also never betray you! Never seems slow or overwhelmed.
Right?!I’m impressive with how it holds up. I throw the same programs I run on my pro (Sans Final Cut Pro) and the mini handles it effortlessly.
This definitely sealed the deal for me now. I've been wondering if it was a bad idea to get the mini this year, but your video has helped resolve my dilemma on this. So thank you. ^^
[ goes out to buy one ]
Glad I could help! Enjoy it! It’s a fantastic little device that will go everywhere with you!
I have one and I’m a full on Android user but there’s no equivalent product. A very compelling video. Apple should employ you!
An Android user with an Apple product?! That’s sacrilegious! lol 😂 such a great device!
Thank you for this review. Please keep posting!
Thank you!! 🙏 Working on posting more here, thanks for the encouragement!
That back pocket shot is really tempting me to buy this over the ipad 11 inch 2022. 🐱
lol!😂 It really is like a big iPhone
That settles the Air v Mini debate for me. Thank you.
Happy to help. I’d take the mini over the air any day!
I’m in Figma daily and was looking for something to read on while traveling. Thanks for this honest review
Happy to have helped out! Love my mini, especially for reading. I think you’ll enjoy it!
Yep. iPad mini for the win. I just retired my 2017 pro model. I’m keeping and upgrading my mini, it will be my daily driver from now on.
Seriously the best decision. It’s my little workhorse. (Or should I say pony 🥹)
A refreshing review, all too often reviews push sales, even when it is not needed. I enjoy hearing a review that focuses on the positives of said device. FYI i still have a iPad mini 2nd gen which i use daily. I love small tech too...
Glad it was helpful! The minis are the best devices in my opinion and experience. You just can’t go wrong with em!
@@GinnyStLawrence Yeah definitely ❤️
I'm like neck deep in the ecosystem (14" M3 Max, 15PM, AWU2, AirPods Pro, and ofc the Mini 6), and when I travel, I just take my phone and Mini 6 with me and I couldn't be happier. I can get most work done if need be with a folding keyboard, but when I'm not traveling, my sling bag can easily carry my iPad and phone. I went from an 11" Pro down to the mini and have zero regrets
So rad! Which folding keyboard do you use? Brilliant idea I may need to try!
@@GinnyStLawrence I got the ProtoArc XK01 from Amazon; brilliant little keyboard when folded up, and when folded out, it's full-sized with a numpad too!
Thank you! I’m such a sucker for num pads and love that it comes with a carrying case. Fantastic recommendation!
As a college student it’s very nice to write notes down and a plus imo is I get to not carry a physical notebook at all.
just found you. love you. this was helpful ...what software programs do you think a newbie artist should learn?
Welcome!! And thanks so much. I’d recommend Fresco. I release a video (it’s long) that goes over all the tools in fresco. I’m looking to put out another video going more into making art in Fresco and Procreate.
Can’t go wrong with Procreate. $9.99 total. No cost for upgrades etc. Lots of features for artists at all levels.
@@GinnyStLawrence I will, thanks again! ;-)
it’s been almost 2 years of thinking about this ipad so im now saving up!
You’re gonna love it!
It’s too good. Cellular would be epic! I have the WiFi model.
🤞for future mini’s!
this is my combination too!
Love the continuous glasses adjustment count and the “Lovingly petting dear mini,” that’s me and my iPads 😅
🤗 I really need to get some new frames. Haha. I love that you picked up on these details! I’m glad I’m not alone over here 😂 Thanks for saying hey!
@@GinnyStLawrence I wear glasses too and for as long as I have, they always slide, so really, I just gave up hope finding the right pair that won’t because of think that’s glasses life.
I’m a fellow RUclipsr and since the best way I see the world is through videos due to my poor vision as well as being observant, I love to find the little Easter Eggs in videos. Makes them interesting and fun.
The iPad thing really was relatable, I’m very close with my iPads and seeing that little text made me so happy since everyone here thinks I’m a crazy person 🤣
Keep up the good work!
@@LeahDykema 😂 you have a solid point. Easter eggs are always a thrill to find. I used to love discovering them in my jeep wrangler when I had one. Love that they hide them all over the car!

@@GinnyStLawrence Thagb er! I just subbed to your channel too!
Similar to your story, I’m a artist, photographer, and went from full Mac desktop set up, to MBP, to iPad Pro, and finally the mini 6, I do love it, great for travel,,
Minimalist lifestyle, but I would love to see a mini pro option too.
A mini pro would have me selling my iPad Pro so fast

@GinnyStLawrence Thanks for this thorough reply! I appreciate it. I'll likely go with the Air 5 and not wait for the Apple event. You definitely helped me. I'll also stay tuned for more content from you.

Thank you for being the only RUclipsr that doesn't complain about the stupid Jelly scrolling stuff 🙏🏻👍🏻❤️
Haha. Do people really notice those things? I can’t even detect it!

Just got a refurb mini 256 gb for $400. What a deal! Thanks for the video.
The refurbs are such a steal. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the new mini! Warning: it’s gonna become your most used device.
I’m a college student and always on the go I think the iPad mini would be great for me:) you just convinced me
At the risk of sounding like a dinosaur, I wish they had minis out when I was in college!
Thanks for the generous comment ❤️
It’s a fantastic e reader! Check Amazon or Apple refurbished to save a couple hundred bucks if you do decide to grab one.
Love this video! As a long time iPad Mini user,I agree with everything you said! I still use my iPad Pro but LOVE my Mini. Props for the running glasses adjustment counter. 😂
Haha so many adjustments! 😅 Thanks for the kind comment, John! I can’t give up my iPad Pro just yet either. Cheers from one mini lover to another!
@@GinnyStLawrence Thank you!! Keep rocking those glasses 😉
lol
Exactly the same that I did recently, and I love having both size options. It's so great to be able to work wherever I want without having to drag the large iPad with me, especially when there is not much space around me or note taking during a client meeting. It always felt weird to me to get out my large iPad in that situation, can't explain why.
It’s weird to whip out the 12.9 sometimes, right?! Mini for the win! 🥇
Loved the review! What app do you use for journaling on your mini?
So glad you enjoyed it! I use Goodnotes and can’t recommend it enough.
@@GinnyStLawrence thanks! Will check out now 👌🏼🙏🏼
My iPad pro is huge and heavy, I was considering purchasing the mini for work also it’s more durable for travel.
Since getting the mini, I no longer need to lug around the pro for travel. Such a great size to travel with!
I’ve debated sizing down from the 12.9” to the 11” whenever I do upgrade for this exact reason… I have the iPad mini to blame 😂 it’s just too good!
Whoa ! This is such a unique content, thank you for bringing your whole self to it - that’s why I loved it! ❤
Aww thank you for this sweet compliment, means a lot 🥹
I love your drawing/ animation style!
Thank you so much for the compliment! 😊 I’m excited to share more of my art and drawing/animation process in future videos here on RUclips.
Hi, I would love to see a video of the apps you use to create art on your iPad mini! Please keep up the excellent content!
Great idea! I posted a long video about Adobe fresco, but that’s more a demonstration of all the tools and features of Adobe Fresco. I’ll add all art apps to the list! Thanks 🙏
Wow! what kind of iphone mini color case is that!?
It was a rather cheap one from Amazon, not Apple!
I haven’t touched my iPad Pro since I downloaded procreate on the mini. The portability is just amazing.
Right? It’s light years ahead of the pro in terms of fun to draw on and use.
I love your video editing, didn't expect the "tech bro" part xD
initially I wanted a bigger ipad like ipad pro or ipad air but in the end I get a steam deck instead, i know they're total different devices but i made a promise to myself that either im choosing getting a laptop (technically steam deck is a portable pc) or an ipad, i learned some parts here and there on how to navigate steam deck since they use linux and i was able to connect my wacom one display to it (just plug in and play, no need wacom program install) it's still portable-ish in some cases if im only drawing in the house or something
i did try using my friend's ipad pro at their house to test it like around 30 mins ish sitting on the sofa drawing, and it is way too heavy for me, thanks to your video i think ill look out for the mini since i do want to do some sketching while im outside the house, but i think ill hold off first and see if they gonna announce ipad mini 7 anytime soon c:
ipad minis are so adorable i think ill have fun decorating the cover/case if im going to have it in the future
*my main drawing tools are desktop + wacom using clip studio paint
Totally agree! The mini is so hard to beat
Muy buen video, me encanta la honestidad y el mensaje enfocado hacia lo que nos haga felices es lo que cuenta, nuevo suscriptor!!

Good luck!
@@GinnyStLawrence I actually went to my carrier and added it to my plan. It was only an additional $45 added to my bill.

I also have a 12.9 inch and the mini and I love them both and use them both every day for different things (so I keep telling myself to justify)
but in all seriousness I use the 12.9 for drawing and 3d sculpting and the mini for journal/notetaking, reading, gaming...leisurely fun stuff
Such a great combo! I’ve never considered gaming in the mini but I bet with a controller, it’s a ton of fun!
Lol 😂

I have a 1 ST 11 inches iPad Pro , and I want to buy a mini , but there are many rumors that the mini 7 is coming , feels a bit struggle is it the right time to buy the mini 6
Totally personal preference! There are rumors of a new mini. It will be interesting what Apple upgrades about them. Can’t go wrong either way!
I'd wait a bit if you can. Apple will probably update at the least the chip in the mini to an A17 (currently an A15) within the next 6 months.
I’m an artist and I draw on my iPad Pro & my iPad Mini 6. I love drawing on both.👍
Such a great drawing experience!
I have both and love them !! No buyers remorse here
Amen to that 🙌
Hey! Hopefully you can answer your opinion if you have some time
I have a great drawing tablet for my computer but for the next two years I'll be home mostly on weekends so I'm looking into getting an ipad for simple animations, I can get a second hand pro gen 5 with a pen for around the same price of a new mini 6 with a pen, the pro I feel like it'll be enormous to draw on compared with the mini but I can't feel but paying for the smaller thing the same amount is kinda of a waste?
Cheers!
@@GinnyStLawrence it'll be awesome if you can! Is there a way to send the email privately or should I write it in a comment and then delete?

Apple never should've stopped making smaller phone like it
Right? They are so cute and perfect ❤️
i honestly prefer Oppo find n2 over ipad mini , similar form factor and the software for foldables is getting better. Too bad it doesn't have a stylus support and it's not available here in India. If iPad mini would make calls like a phone though... i might consider buying it.
until then 11" is the preferred tablet form factor for me
I think technically you can receive calls on it if you have cellular right? (Fact check me on that)
I want one, I’m just waiting for the iPad mini 7 and usb c
Hopefully they drop one this year!
As an artist, the iPad Mini might just be the perfect sketchbook that fits in your pocket! With the new features and portability, it’s like carrying a mini studio wherever you go. But... will it finally cure my never-ending search for the 'perfect' tablet?
Ipad mini 7 need to have more ram added to it. I love my mini 6 but sometimes i went to far using my nomad sculpt that it crashes.
Curious to see future mini capabilities!

Haha that’s awesome. It’s a feature I’ve used a time or twelve 😂 yes! It’s not the super tiny field notes sized one but also not the printer paper sized one. I’m not sure if those dimensions are helpful?
@@GinnyStLawrence Yep - I’m an OG moleskin girl so that’s perfect, thanks!
i wish ipad pro rear-camera is not highend or no camera at all- so maybe itll be less-expensive? and the refreshrate is just BS not enough justification for overpricing i think ram and storage is more important
A camera free iPad would be interesting. I don’t believe Apple would ever make one as so many utilize them for document scanning.
Great video!
Thanks Austin. Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this videoooo!
Thanks so much ❤
Like mini size ❤❤
Me too!
I have a mini too
i will have one to play and i can’t wait 😅
Enjoy!!
Hi
Great video
🇬🇧
Thanks Michelle! I’m glad you liked it
I find it a bit expensive for its size, still like the ipad mini tho.
I agree with you, especially considering the argument for upgraded memory. That aside, I still love it 😍
what do think about 11 inch instead of the mini??
I’m not much of an in between type of person. I typically go to one extreme or the other. 😂The 11 inch feels misplaced to me personally, but I’m sure it can be the perfect size for many!
2:15 caught me off guard so hard lmfao so random
Haha 😂 I’m here for the random moments
My neurons activated for the orange accessories for the ipads
Haha as someone who also oranges (real verb, promise) I feel this! 🍊
Lol I have the 12.9 pro and I love it but I think I would love the mini even more 😅 I’m gonna send my husband to this video so I can convince him that I need it 😂
Haha. You’re gonna get me in trouble! They are dope little devices!!
I have a 2018 ipad pro 12.9 and i got my wife a mini 6 about a year ago and i use it more than she do😂
😂 I understand why! It’s such a great device!
I am super crazy because I've got 3 iPads :), 2 pros and one mini lol
😂 you know how to iPad. Lol
ipad mini 6 = swiss knife
Yes! That is such an accurate description!
