Pro tip here. Instead of using the cleaning solution in the tank, just put water in that tank. For the cleaning solution, use either a spray bottle, or even better, a garden sprayer. Soak the surface to be cleaned with the cleaning solution, agitate with a brush and then use the machine to spray water and extract at the same time.

I got the Bissell one a couple of years back - it's one of those products I could buy without getting too much flak. I told the better half I'm getting it to tidy up the kids mess - she assumes it's the house, but I mean for the car!
@@MrAarongilbey I was happy with it - I mean I only use it every once in a while so I'm not using it like a pro does. I use just warm water in the tanks, and 1% Surfex so I don't lose the colour. It can be fiddly, but only when loading and emptying the tanks. I got the Bissell one for Pets about 18 months ago, and just waited for it to be on sale. It doesn't have that self clean function, so that's where I'd say the Vax one here might be better.
I bought the new Bissell Spot Wash a couple of months ago (for impending, new puppy accidents) but saw the potential straight away for the car. This type of cleaner is ideal for tight areas so perfect for car seats and carpets. Spray on, leave, agitate then vacuum off to nearly dry. Dead easy to dismantle to clean and I also use the purge through for the hoses to keep them fresh. Don't know how I ever did without one.
Had the George for years, and I've only ever used that for spot cleaning really. It's unwieldy and getting a bit temperamental now. Fell for this hook line and sinker with the £30 quid off. Thanks a lot Jon!
I've been looking at spot cleaners for a couple of months now and your excellent review and discount prompted me to order one today. I was unsure whether to go for the Bissel or Vax, as they do basically the same thing, but thirty quid is a substantial saving for the amount I will use the cleaner. A great offer Jon and much appreciated.
Like a few others i've got the Bissel spot cleaner, great bit of kit and was shocking to see how much dirt came out of my car seats, also great around the house and wouldn't be without it now.
Bought one yesterday after watching this video. Ninety-nine pounds only. From Curries. I was surprised how much dirt it sucked out of my Honda S2000's thick velour carpeted footwells, that had mats from new as well. I thought the carpets were immaculate but no they weren't. The carpets are now a very rich charcoal colour again now after working the nozzle until the water in the waste tank became crystal clear. Works brilliantly, I love the long hose. Decent little powerhouse of a machine. Cracking investment.
Following my previous comment, the Vax unit arrived within 24 hours, as promised - excellent. I read all the material and assembled the unit with ease. Within a couple of hours I'd cleaned the seats in my wife's car and the floor mats in mine. In both cases I was astonished at the dirt the Vax extracted, particularly the Fiesta seats, which I considered to be fairly clean. According to the instructions, the small bottle of solution would only be sufficient to perform one large clean, so I decided to fill with water just above the small clean line and added about a quarter of the bottle as a tester. I know Vax want you to use their product for obvious reasons, but other reviewers seem to have used other products quite successfully and as Surfex HD is low foaming I decided to take the risk and used a spray bottle as well with a 1:20 solution. Both the seats and mats look astonishing and I'm so pleased the Vax is now in my cleaning arsenal. Thanks Jon - really appreciated.
Hi , great video Jon I use the Rug Doctor spot remover which I've been delighted with for the last 4 years Nice to see that vax have come up with a very similar machine at a great price . Worth mentioning that 4 litres of Rug Doctor carpet solution is about £18 (bargain),smells great and works well Keep up the good work
It reminds me of the Bissel one that has been out for years. Personally I have a bissel pro heat which combines both. It has the hose and tool like the vax but is also an upright machine for the house. Plus it heats the water as you go along. I just add my usual APC to it rather than using their fluids.
I purchased the Vax Home wash duo a couple of weeks ago but not tried it out yet. Looks a good addition to my detailing kit. Thanks for explaining the process very timely and helpful.
I'll be getting the Bissel one eventually as my car is now 6 years old and overdue for a good wet vac. The Bissel spot cleaner looks very similar and works the same way as that Vax Spot Wash. Thanks for the review, good to know these units really are powerful enough to get really good results.
I’ve the Bissell spotclean pro (they all are pretty similar in this price range) just the pro had slightly larger liquid capacity (at the time of purchase). They’re super handy machines to have. We have a puppy that’s toilet training so it’s been spending a lot of time in the house dealing with accidents. Such versatile little machines for the car and the house!
I bought this just before Christmas 2022 and it's excellent, also purchased the Vax cordless version for doing stuff in my car. I could run an extension lead out to the road for this one but I like cordless in situations where I'm not near a power outlet. Cheers
I have a similar compact extractor made by Bissell, the SpotClean model. Now, thanks to you Jon, I’m heading in the garage to clean my carpets and mats.
Just purchased this mate many thanks for the review and £30 discount I inherited my Mother In-laws VAX but it’s massive and also an accessory box and takes up a whole top layer of storage on my rack in the garage! I’ve never used it- got stains on my wife’s seats my daily and my M3 mats need doing so looking forward to using this (and I’ll sell the inherited VAX!) 😝
I've got the bissell pet spot cleaner for exactly the same purpose. The amount of grime it lifted out of my 150,000 mile seats was unreal and the car smelt brand new! THE thing that I dislike about these smaller machines is the hoses are just a shade too short (1.5m isn't enough at all), another 50cm or more on them and it'd be great / perfect. Even if they could make a hose extension kit that'd be helpful!
Good video Jon, thanks for that. I do think it's worth throwing in a caveat or two to it though. Or at least my own personal ones: 1. Unless you're actually detailing regularly, this might be a slightly more luxury purchase. If your home has a large amount of carpeted space, you probably would be better off buying a full sized machine. I have a Bissell Pro Heat pet pro machine, which is an upright vacuum cleaner style machine and it came with a long hose and car-specific tools. It works fantastically for the car aswell as the house in general. Just have to be slightly careful not to pull the machine too far and send it banging into your paint. 2. If you have a detailing product you use and trust for upholstery cleaning, you CANNOT run it through these machines or you instantly invalidate the warranty. I tend to use Surfex HD for decently soiled interiors, so of course that goes in a pump sprayer.
Very nice points. I bought an upright one I haven't had the chance to use it yet but our home does have a decent amount of carpet. I may buy one of these to keep in the garage and use the upright for the house.
Forgot to mention, the hose on mine is bloody massive! I can leave the machine in the hallway and the hose easily reaches to the top of my stairs. It must be 2.5 to 3 metres long I'm sure.
This looks the same as my Hoover Spot Clean but blue instead of red. I got when I bought my first car which was used, but I wanted to make new to me. Great option for DIYers. Plus it works amazing with using a drill brush to agitate and loosen up dirt before with a carpet cleaner in a spray bottle and just hot water in the extractor (similar process to when I do custodial work at a college).
Was thinking of getting a George as the wife was looking something to clean the stairs but you have me sold on this Jon. It looks & sounds like a great bit of kit.
I picked up a bargain, it was brand new and unwanted I paid £80 for a £300+ machine (or so I thought) it was a brand new vax big carpet shampooer with a hose for doing stairs and small areas, however I made the fatal mistake of lending it to someone it got damaged, vax sales direct offer extended warranties, but from third parties you need to check. Mine got damaged, I was more than happy to pay for a repair or at least check the viability of getting it repaired. But despite the plethora of vacuum cleaner repair places, nobody repairs shampooers. Without the extended warranty Vax offer no repair for damage caused. So you have to weigh up the pros and cons of having a machine that is made of brittle plastic that could be easily damaged and of no further use.
Great review. Just looking at them this week on the Amazon Prime deals. You’ve reassured us that we should order one. We’re going for the Duo for an extra tenner as it has the pet tools - handy as we have a young cat who sometimes barfs on the light coloured living room carpet 🙄. This will be perfect 👍🏼😁
I am also a Vax 6131T user (the big orange one) and it's brilliant but changing from dry vac with a bag to wet vac is a bit of a faff. I'd rather have this and a separate smaller dry vacuum, which I might end up doing, to save changing between the two.

Just got a Bissell pet pro, the build quality is far superior to the Vax, comes with a standard 3 year warranty, there is absolutely no way that there back up support and customer service can be anywhere near as bad as VAX. So my unbiased opinion 😀 is that VAX appears good at new and whilst working, back up depends on where and who you buy it from. APPARENTLY, theY subscribe to the EEEE regulation that gives the manufacturer a set time to keep replacement parts, apart from the likes of us guys who will use it more than us, it is for normal domestic use so a defect may manifest itself whilst the machine is relatively unused but quite old.

Excellent, wife likes Zoflora so I'll use that instead of the Vax detergent and I'll use my concentration of carpro inside in this unit. Been holding off getting one but not anymore. Bought.
Just returned mine as it was awful, leaking, fizzing & unusable. Cheap looking. The guy in returns said “didn’t meet expectations” well no it was simply rubbish or faulty. I video’d the issues I had but they weren’t interested. So based on my experience do not buy. Plus note returns process is simple 👍🏻

Hey Martin thx It's not a review it's a payed for promotion. If you wait a couple of weeks there's a promo deal coming where u get extra litre of cleaner free. It's a good machine
What is everyone doing for sulution. The 250ml bottle all went on cleaning my couch to test it out. I'm thinking some BH Surfex maybe 1:50? I got one to replace my George. It's much less chunky but I already miss the hose legnth. Vax is far more civilised to use and I don't have to mess about getting George in wet mode
I use the the George wet and dry vac but find the suction nozzle a little bulky for use in cars. I’m considering buying one of these but really not sure as I want the same performance as the George or better. Would you have one of these over a George Jon or would you suggest ti just stick with what I’ve got?
Whats the difference between this model your using the duo !as opposed to the identical looking red model that dosen't have duo in its name please and thanks
Hi Jon, what are your thoughts on the merits of a carpet cleaner like this against a Steam Cleaner? I have the Dupray Neat Steam cleaner which is great at freshening things up in car and home and also cleaning tough plastics but if I'm perfectly honest its not the best at removing deap stains from upholstery or carpets. Also, I'm guessing this is something that shouldn't be performed too often on car seats or even headlining given the foam/glues used in construction. So far as I can see this looks great for carpet and seats but is there an argument for having both the carpet and steam cleaner or did I buy the wrong machine?!
Jon you are a bad man, buying a gift for the missus and then using it once the novelty has worn off and claim it as your own, that's definitely something I do on a regular for my misus. Only thing is she's cottoned on to my way of thinking and busts me for it. I know vax has paid for the promotion of this video and you can definitely tell that Jon is in full sales pitch mode. Looks great, I'm still thinking about the Bissel though. I'll Google the specs on both including the longer hose (not a pun) and think about ways and situations in which would cause me to get frustrated or areas where it could be compromised. An extractor is on the cards but will do my homework first on the best product for my needs
Pro tip here. Instead of using the cleaning solution in the tank, just put water in that tank. For the cleaning solution, use either a spray bottle, or even better, a garden sprayer. We have small flat would this be better for carpets rather than big model Vax for large areas.x
Bissell spot clean 👍
Excellent, wife likes Zoflora so I'll use that instead of the Vax detergent and I'll use my concentration of carpro inside in this unit. Been holding off getting one but not anymore. Bought.
Can you please give some feedback on the use and ratios of non-vax cleaning fluids. Cheers in advance
Just returned mine as it was awful, leaking, fizzing & unusable. Cheap looking. The guy in returns said “didn’t meet expectations” well no it was simply rubbish or faulty. I video’d the issues I had but they weren’t interested. So based on my experience do not buy. Plus note returns process is simple 👍🏻
sounds faulty paul. it should not be leaking.
Goo d review we’ll explained thank you. I’m buying one ASAP. I’m disabled and this will do my sofa bit buy bit and the two sofa chairs I’ve been waiting for some like this for years. I did and still have a Electrolux Z85 and I bought it in the 1990 but my spine and neck and knee caps I can’t us it.nice one 👍
Hey Martin thx It's not a review it's a payed for promotion. If you wait a couple of weeks there's a promo deal coming where u get extra litre of cleaner free. It's a good machine
Looks good just purchased this product will comment after using it.
I have been looking at one of these for a while, thanks Jon - purchased
Just ordered one, thanks for the review and discount Jon 👍
Just picked mine up, I can't see solution lasting very long. I've used it and it goes through the solution quickly..
Great saving! Thanks Jon30 😜. Just ordered for the cars and Mrs 💪🤫👌
Misses just ordered me one for my birthday cheers for the code John 😃 👍
I think my hubby follow your advice 14:35 Buy one for your Misses she will love it but in reality is for you. 🤣👍it works!
Love the dirty headboard Jon! 😂
Thank you very much for a great review. Just ordered mine using jon30 for £30 off !
Nice one Jon, I have been looking for one of these and the £30 off deal pushed that on, just ordered, look forward to trying it out :)
Looks a great bit of kit Jon. Thanks for the review. Now I just have to decide between this or the Bissell Spot Clean Pro!
i might need this very soon
Thank you. And thank you for the promo code 😊
Whats the best product to use for pet smells in furniture etc
You need to to extract. If it still smells after extraction then you could use valet pro enzyme odour eater
I have this. Best thing I've ever bought. Can't say how good these are cheap and good
Jon you are a bad man, buying a gift for the missus and then using it once the novelty has worn off and claim it as your own, that's definitely something I do on a regular for my misus.
Thanks , ordered one, video was helpful.
Great review, thanks for the discount code, ordered one today.
I got the red version of this to clean my car seats and carpets. Unfortunately it leaks a lot from the clean tank side
Are you sure the tank is seated properly in the machine?
Could you recommend any other cleaning solutions you could use if you wanted to buy a bigger bottle?
There's. Deal coming soon where you get a litre free.
