Must say as a concert musician myself. This is by far my most favourite version of the theme tune and the music itself. In fact it is my favourite film score and action adventure move of all time. And it's hard to beat Star Wars and other movies like that for me. A true masterpiece. Dead Man's chest is by far the best Pirate's of the Caribbean it has everything you want in a pirate movie. From epic sword fights, to funny moments, to good action, ghostly pirates, a ghastly villain, different scenery and places. A final battle with heavy rain. And most of all epic music to compliment it all. They say a film is only as good as the villain. I say it's only as good as the music. Savy? ;)

Dude I was not thinking of Conan the Barbarian and totally just pictured Conan O'Brien standing upon a mountain of fallen enemies with a sword and long blond hair. And that is far more awesome somehow.
This is my favorite of the He's a Pirate variations. The first is great, but nothing special. The third is amazing, but just because of the fact that Up is Down is tagged on (each He's a Pirate variation obviously having the theme from their respective movie included in addition to the classic melody; Original has a sped-up Medallion Calls, this has Davy Jones, third has up is down, don't remember fourth). Fourth is an odd variation on this tune, with some song added. This one, though, has a sort of deep, layered feel to the main tune, almost as if they added more background instruments, perhaps slurred a bit more, and added some more whole notes behind the main melody. I'd have to say this is my favorite, followed by Drink Up Me Hearties Yo Ho, followed by the fourth one, and ending with the not as amazing but still spectacular original. By the way, just because I mentioned it in passing does not mean I am acknowledging the existence of a fourth film. No sir. The problem with that film, not that it exists, is that that it included such normal land affairs such as courts, and legal things. That's not allowed! Everything in 1-3 was seafaring related. Not so with film four. That didn't work. And of course they got rid of half the main characters. That's bad. And they left out the amazing villain that was Davy Jones. Seriously, with the third movie they had a great, complex film that ended in the longest and most epic fight scene of all time, as well as killing the antagonist and ending the story arc began in film two. Seriously, perfect conclusion! But no, they had to screw it up.

This is my favorite of the He's a Pirate variations. The first is great, but nothing special. The third is amazing, but just because of the fact that Up is Down is tagged on (each He's a Pirate variation obviously having the theme from their respective movie included in addition to the classic melody; Original has a sped-up Medallion Calls, this has Davy Jones, third has up is down, don't remember fourth). Fourth is an odd variation on this tune, with some song added. This one, though, has a sort of deep, layered feel to the main tune, almost as if they added more background instruments, perhaps slurred a bit more, and added some more whole notes behind the main melody. I'd have to say this is my favorite, followed by Drink Up Me Hearties Yo Ho, followed by the fourth one, and ending with the not as amazing but still spectacular original. By the way, just because I mentioned it in passing does not mean I am acknowledging the existence of a fourth film. No sir. The problem with that film, not that it exists, is that that it included such normal land affairs such as courts, and legal things. That's not allowed! Everything in 1-3 was seafaring related. Not so with film four. That didn't work. And of course they got rid of half the main characters. That's bad. And they left out the amazing villain that was Davy Jones. Seriously, with the third movie they had a great, complex film that ended in the longest and most epic fight scene of all time, as well as killing the antagonist and ending the story arc began in film two. Seriously, perfect conclusion! But no, they had to screw it up.
