It was founded by Yogi (Chojun's student from Okinawa who went to University) together with Yamaguchi Gogen, with the blessing of Chojun Miyagi, The later/larger organization headed by Yamaguchi Gogen was a breakaway after the 2nd World War.
I learned this art when I was 15 years old in Arizona. My Sensei was sensei Spalding. I could not see a time clock or a ref. I just did what I was taught. With that I was able to achieve the fastest pin in middle school history in Arizona. 9.3 seconds. At the weight of 189 lbs.
