For someone who looks so young and probably is, so much control even at this pace ! And the fast paced sequences so much in tune even at the ati-taar-saptak ! Remarkable! With the audience for classical music having become so broad-based, the masses have to be catered to. If the performer keeps to the sombre mood of Bageshri and plays only according to it, I guarantee these masses will not be impressed.
Mehtaab bhai waise to aapki saari performance lajawaab hain lekin gaud Malhar ki clip is heavenly... Uski poori bandish upload krne ki inayat ho jaye to majaa aa jaye.. sangeet ki bandagi zaari rakhein... Shukriya
True that! Well I would like to suggest you to listen to the whole 1 and a half recital of the same concert from the link given in the description and then re-consider your thoughts since this is just a small drut part from the whole performance. :)
@@mehtabaliniazi_ Since you seem concerned, let me clear this up. I do not possess any personal grudge against you. I would, in fact encourage the new generation artists to take up the art. However, performing for mere applauses is not fair. I think you have matured enough to understand what I meant by "lack of aesthetics", if not, you really might want to return to the old generation maestros(Enayet khan, Mohammed khan, Vilayat khan, Rais khan, Nikhilbabu among those coming to mind right now). In ICM, we have a thing called Thehrav. The gap between two consecutive phrases is an art in itself, and must be mastered. Your recital lacks this. Also, phrases should not be put anywhere you want just because you have mastered them, remember, we are always trying to paint a complete landscape, using the phrases. Just like you cannot put any colour you like on a canvas merely because you possess them, you cannot place any phrase anywhere. Lastly, the most crucial thing is raag-ang and raag bhav. Frankly, you could not evoke the bhav of bageshree, at least to me; though you did not borrow phrases from other raags. Sorry if I hurt your sentiments, but I think criticism is more important than applauding the artist; criticism leads to the growth of an art. P.S.- Yes, I listened the whole recital, then wrote my opinion. :)
I'm very happy to see this comments thread. You've shown your maturity about how one should handle criticism, Mehtab! :) There'll always be things to improve. But your mastery on the instrument is commendable. I'm sure that it's the result of many hours of rigorous riyaz. You'll be one of big names in sitar. Good luck! :)

This lacks aesthetics. Mere jargons of notes does not create music.
