Nice video 👍 My understanding is you shouldn’t bottom out the studs on the block side. If you do then the tension is not fully on the top on the threads completely and the expansion of the block when heating up will push up on the stud potentially. It’s the same idea of head bolt. The factory bolt isn’t long enough to hit the bottom of the hole
I forgot how things can get kinda complicated when it comes to reassembling motors can get lol. Guess that's why most people tell the machine shop to do it.
I normally have the machine shop do all of the clearances minus piston rin gap. This time I wanted to go trough and film the process with the head. I honestly learned a few things myself while making this video

this is awesome. hopefully i can follow along with mine. i just spent my whole afternoon messing around with a 2jz. its been sitting forever and my friend just sold it to me. for some reason it would only rotate 90 degrees in either direction. thought it was off timing but im not sure, i pulled off the belt and i unscrewed the spark plugs it released a bunch of pressure and i was able to spin it 3/4ths of the way not sure what has it locked up but im going to tear it down tomorrow and make a video lol
Supertech are harder, more durable than oem . You can upgrade to oem shimless but there are cases where those wear out or deform under heavy abuse. The supertech ones have shim under bucket. That allow to set the clearance but won’t come apart
just a question arent you able to screw in the studs hand tight without the head on by hand and then use that as a guide for for the headgasket and head?
Did you replace the valve guides and seals? Debating if I should replace mine since the machine shop said nothing about them during the machining process.
What is the reason behind using the GTE valve covers? I'm currently for my build using a ge vvti head and ge non vvti block, would you recommend using the gte valve covers??
Hola estoy armando un 2jz pero no se como poner la posición de los anillos a la hora de ponerlo en el bloque . Me podrías ayudar con una imagen cual es la posición. Gracias
hey bro, I seen that you changed the process a bit, from the loosening and re torquing process for the head studs (newer procedure states using the moly lube from ARP does not require re torquing) and also not spraying copper gasket sealer on the head gasket, is there some new information you came across that states we should follow this new process?
Hey Alberto, great build! I'm not sure if I have been watching your videos in the right order for this build and may have missed this info. What bhp are you trying to reach? Secondly, what bhp does a stock 2J hold without a build? Thanks.
Awesome video! Do you heat cycle the head studs(hardware) to prevent any head lift? There was a video where you cold cycled the hardware 3 times but I did not see it here. would like your input on that. Thank you.
don't apologize about background noise you are filming in a shop brother, we understand
It was a bit hard to film and to edit this video 😅
This weird habbit of me when seeing a new BigBOOST video, I can't resist to press the thumbs up video!
go work on the server mofo :D
Thank you 😊
When you see how well engineered the head is you start to understand how beastly the 2JZ is!
its just like most 90s cylindr heads
I’m surprised these videos don’t have more views. Great job with showing how to put the 2JZ together.
one thing do...some of the lifter buckets cound just swap place to get the right value! Intake and exaust are the same size. great job Mr Boost
Yes. You can do that in some cases. But I will be using upgraded buckets 😬
Alberto with the videos that really make a difference, giving back 👌 knowledge is power.
I got a little more ways to go before starting on my 2jge build, but your vids have kept me inspired and motivated. I can’t wait to start on mines.
Vvti or non?

Just learnt so much way more complicated than a ls. I wanna build a jz now
The way you explain stuff is hella good thank you
The moment I've been waiting for 🔥🔥..
Best head job I've ever seen
Love the videos big boost, especially since I’m currently rebuilding a 2jz myself too!
2jz all the things! What’s it going on?
It’s going to be installed in a 1991 240sx (hatch back version)
Finally after weeks.
This was a hard video to make. The rest should be flowing every other day now 😬

Great Job Alberto!!
Hey Alberto what’s the advantage using supertech shimless buckets over OEM buckets and shims? Just wondering.
they are about the same, some people swap the supertech has better oc, just spec it out and run it.

Great video, i think this type of content suits well to your expertise and offers something more unique
Yay finally a upload, it's been almost a month without a video.

Thank your sir for the valve lash lesson 🤙🏼
It’s going to get wild in the next video 😬
gracias por instruirme. excelente trabajo.
Gracias 🙂

Ciao Alberto...ottimo video e tutorial como sempre 👍😉
Great video alberto but you forgot to share the torque specs of the cam caps. Would you mind sharing your cheat sheet of all torque specs?
I will cover those in the final assembly video. When I put in all the correct bucket sizes. Got it all covered 💪
@@ALBERTOBIGBOOST YTB Alberto!
I remember in old video you said torqued and loosen the 2jz head studs three time i did it and work great, but why you didn't do it in this build?
so basically get the shop to do it lol man those buckets look scary
Yeah I wouldn't trust myself with all that
Did you replace the valve guides and seals? Debating if I should replace mine since the machine shop said nothing about them during the machining process.
Let’s gooo 💪 Can’t wait to see the start up
really good video alberto really knows his shit
Alberto why you didn't do the loosen and Tighten 3 times on this head ?
Very cool video Alberto. Thanks

Great job 👍

Can we get a build list so I can copy this setup 😂🔥
I dont have a full list of everything together. But I am listing the parts that I am using in each video.
Alberto BIGBOOST thank you so much!! Love the in depth content!
What size of the cam lobes would make the 2jz an interference engine?
Why buckets with sims and not shimless ? A ticking bomb ;)
Hey Alberto, great build! I'm not sure if I have been watching your videos in the right order for this build and may have missed this info. What bhp are you trying to reach? Secondly, what bhp does a stock 2J hold without a build? Thanks.
Thanks for the knowledge!
You are welcome 🙏
Great video. Very helpful!
How do you go about turning the cams over with it on the block and not having interference?
Great video 👍 Good content
alberto ur for some reason really cool and can u tell adam to stop trolling us
Big boost? There's another company out there that builds turbo kits for bimmers, allied?
Is the bump around the cylinder down or up?

I thought you like to use Copper Gasket Spray too; is there a reason you didn't use it? Just curious
Didn’t need to use it. Surface is so perfect I am using the gasket bare
What happened to the rotary motor?
The rotary build is in hold untill I finish this one. This way I can get back to the track
