I started sewing over the pandemic. It’s absolutely understandable that a tailor would charge $35 or more for alterations. Most people don’t understand the time and wear and tear on a sewing machine. The cost of materials. All of that needs to considered. Fast fashion has made our society have an unrealistic view of the art and value of sewing and tailoring. I’ve learned so much sewing and tailoring my own clothes. Especially, if you find someone that you trust and can understand your body and do quality work. Pay the money. It’s worth it.

If you’re close to a military college, check to see if they are open to the public for alterations and dry cleaning. My mom and I started going to one and they are affordable and usually quick except of course when the cadets have big events.

Girl I feel your pain ! I took a thrifted sweater (6) and skirt and the skirt to be taken it was 35 dollars ! Never again . We need to learn to sew 🤦🏾‍♀️

Unfortunately, the $35 is pretty normal. If you are getting it for $12 or $18, definitely stick with that. I have my mom do mine as much as possible.
